The Phony Threat of a Palestinian Majority

A group advocating Palestinian statehood took out a full-page ad in The New York Times last week to warn that there will be "a Palestinian majority" in Israel in less than a decade unless such a state is created.

A reader of the ad might think he had fallen into a time warp and ended up sometime prior to the signing of the 1993 Oslo accords.

The ad, sponsored by the S. Daniel Abraham Center for Middle East Peace, was headlined "Separation Between Israelis and Palestinians is Essential."

It featured what it called a "population breakdown from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River" - a frightening chart that showed the current Jewish population and that of projected estimates; in 2015, 52 percent Jewish; in 2020, 49 percent Jewish and in 2030, 44 percent Jewish.

Those statistics are not merely ignorant; they constitute deliberate deception.

The number of people between "the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River" is not the same as the number of Israeli citizens. That territory consists of two entirely separate bodies of people: Israeli citizens and Palestinian Authority residents.

Among Israeli citizens, there is an approximately 80 percent Jewish majority, and it will remain that way for a long time to come. Among the PA's residents, there is a 100 percent Arab majority and that will not change.

Israelis vote in Israel's elections. PA residents vote in Palestinian elections (when their dictator permits them). Israelis and Palestinians lead geographically separate lives. The cities where 98 percent of the Palestinians reside are governed by the PA, not Israel. Israelis do not venture into those cities. (When they accidentally go there, they risk being lynched.)

In short, the number of Palestinians has no effect on Israel's demography. Even if there were, right now, twice as many Palestinians in the PA areas, Israel would still have the same 80 percent Jewish majority.

Back in the 1980s, the "demographic argument" was one of the main weapons in the rhetorical arsenal of Jewish supporters of the Palestinians. They even got then-Sec. of State George Shultz to embrace the idea that Israel faced "a demographic time bomb."

Pundits such as Thomas Friedman of The New York Times wrote innumerable articles about how Israel could not be both Jewish and democratic unless it allowed creation of a Palestinian state.

Then Yitzhak Rabin came along and turned everything on its head.

The Peace Now camp at first embraced Rabin's Oslo accord because they thought it would lead to creation of a Palestinian state.  But Rabin wanted to test the Palestinians first. He wanted to make sure they were sincerely committed to peace.

So, before agreeing to a state, he signed the Oslo II accord, in September 1995, which provided for Israel to withdraw from the areas where the Palestinians live.

But a Palestinian state did not follow, because, instead of embracing peace, the PA decided to sponsor terrorism against Israel, shelter terrorists from arrest, and inculcate its young people with anti-Israel and anti-Jewish hatred.

All of which brings us to today.  The "occupation" is long over. The "separation" that the S. Daniel Abraham Center is now demanding was already implemented 21 years ago. The "demographic time bomb" was defused. Israel is still both Jewish and democratic.

Now you can see why the advocates of Palestinian statehood feel so frustrated. They've run out of cogent arguments. All they can do now is try to wind the clock back to the days before Oslo, so that they can portray Israel as an occupier.

That is nothing less than a callous, cynical attempt to manipulate the public. And it's a grievous insult to the memory of Rabin.

Rabin's separation plan tested the Palestinians. They failed the test. Now it's time for the statehood advocates to admit this painful truth and stop living in the past.

The Government is Turning the Entire United States Into a Debt Prison

Since the United States was founded, citizenship has represented a safe haven from oppressive regimes around the world. By preserving the principles of small government and free markets, those who were willing to work hard found success, and America became a magnet for innovation.

But as the U.S. continues to erode personal and economic freedom, more people than ever before are handing over their U.S. passports to seek better opportunities abroad.

The staggering amount of debt held by the American empire ensures the public will be working it off for generations to come. The government has already begun its campaign to make it more difficult to leave the country, and it has also begun to crack down on the finances of the eight million Americans living abroad.

Regardless of whether you're a millionaire with multiple foreign bank accounts or a recent college graduate with a boatload of debt, the status of being a United States citizen brings with it a burden that will only grow heavier over time.

Since 2008, the number of individuals giving up their citizenship has increased by almost 560%, setting new records each of the past three years. Some of these expats are motivated by the extra tax load paid when working abroad while others are trying to avoid student loan debt. Others have just had enough of the encroaching police state.

Every taxpayer left in the country now owes more than $149,000 of the national debt, so it's no surprise the tide is beginning to turn. By hook or by crook, in the coming years, citizens will be fleeced of that money through higher taxes, savings that are inflated away, and an overall drop in their standard of living.

Many can see the writing on the wall and have become determined to protect themselves from the years of economic repression coming down the pipe.

Draconian steps have already been taken to slow the rate of expatriation. For one, the IRS has broadened its reach into foreign bank accounts through the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act.

Through agreements with over 100 nations, the law is able to require all financial institutions abroad to report the account details of any American customers they have. With access to this new information, the IRS can revoke the passports of potential tax evaders and hinder their ability to travel using yet another additional power the agency was granted last year.

The Internal Revenue Service is one of the most powerful agencies of the federal government and has a track record of persecuting groups for political reasons. The fact that they have now set their sights are expats shouldn't surprise anyone.

The Tea Party movement, whatever your views on it, experienced this first-hand during the 2012 elections. Jenny Beth Martin, national coordinator of Tea Party Patriots spoke on the targeting scandal:

"The IRS has demonstrated the most disturbing, illegal and outrageous abuse of government power. This deliberate targeting and harassment of tea party groups reaches a new low in illegal government activity and overreach."

While penalties are being levied against those with enough money to work around the world, the most impactful measures are aimed at those just making ends meet. The initial paperwork for renouncing citizenship used to cost just $450, but it has skyrocketed to $2,350, making it the most expensive fee of any country in the world.

It may not seem like much in the grand scheme of things, but this additional expense directly targets the young and working class, creating a huge barrier to even starting the process. As an added bonus, the price increase has raised over $12 million for government coffers in just over a year.

The $19.5 trillion in debt that has been amassed through decades of interventionist policies and clandestine operations can only be maintained by taxing the government's human livestock. After all, the federal government counts student loans as almost 30% of their net worth.

If the young and productive workers of the future are allowed to leave, U.S. power and wealth will go with them.

The Millennial generation has been completely duped by the federal loan programs, pumped out to any 18-year-old with a pulse. The $1.3 trillion in outstanding student loans is akin to indentured servitude for those entering the dismal job market.

And students themselves aren't the only ones on the chopping block -- 90% of these loans are co-signed by the parents, attaching the ball and chain further up the family tree.

For those tempted to jump ship and disappear into another country, their families will be held responsible in their stead. It's reminiscent of North Korea, where the families of defectors are punished.

Noah Brown, president of the Association of Community College Trustees wrote:

"If you default, your financial life is ruined. You have to deal in cash for the rest of your life. It used to be death and taxes were the only certainty. You can throw in student loans now."

Many are learning the hard way that these loans are unique and can't be wiped away by simply declaring bankruptcy. Instead of the collateral being a house or a car, it's future earnings that can be seized.

Those who find themselves with no way out have been offered a deal with the devil -- work in the public sector for 10 years and you will be granted your freedom. This has created a perverse incentive to work directly for the state, placing fresh cogs in the military, police, and bureaucratic machines.

The policies seen so far are soft measures compared to what may be tried in the future as the government grows and the economy weakens.

A new type of debt prison is being built in the U.S., and as the inmates realize their predicament, the rush for the exits could be chaotic -- so long as people can afford to pay the fee to leave.

Those who understand the fragile state of our economic and political system can see that when politicians start building walls, it may be more about keeping people in than out.

Despite the brainwashing often conducted in public schools, many are realizing the future for U.S. citizens may look very different than the past.

The freedom and opportunity that have been synonymous with U.S. citizenship are being transformed before our eyes. When America abandoned its core values and let loose the scourge of oppressive big government, the countdown to when citizens would pay the price began.

Biochip Technologies: from Fringe to Mainstream

Biochip technology is becoming big business, but not everyone is embracing the changes. There are concerns about the potential dangers these technologies can offer.

Right now, implants are already being designed that will provide your medical information, act as a key to your home, and store business card information.

These are not wearable devices that you can put on and take off, but actual implantable devices that are placed under the skin. The implants work through RFID technology, which can be read by smartphones and readers that allow people access to buildings through ID cards or badges

Current estimates indicate that some 50,000 people around the world may already have these implants and be using them for access to their homes and businesses, contact details, and more.

While it is becoming a popular trend in some circles, there are real worries about where the use of these kinds of devices may take society.

The tags only work when the scanner activates them, so there is no worry about dead batteries, and they take only seconds to implant under the skin. That makes it sound almost too easy to get and start using these implants for all sorts of daily things.

Will This Become Mandatory?

One concern for many people is that the "chipping" of human beings may eventually become mandatory. Similar to how pet owners in some areas have seen the optional chipping of pets now

become mandatory.  In that case, these chips would be needed as identity markers, much the same way people now carry a driver's license or ID card.

The implants could also be used to open doors, pay for things, and store medical and other types of data. But the argument against this is strong, coming from both religious individuals who feel the implants are similar to the "mark of the beast" that is mentioned in the Bible, and scientific individuals who worry about the long-term health effects of the chips on the human body.

Will New Advancements Mean Additional Implants?

As technology moves forward, more options will be available to be implanted in human beings. These implants are the size of a grain of rice, but how many of them is too many, and how much data can they hold? Will they ever fail and need to be removed or replaced?

With so many questions still circulating when it comes to how these implants will be handled, it is entirely possible that advancements in technology will mean that new and better implants will come along.

Since there are a number of good choices for placement of these implants, people could theoretically have an increasingly large number of them for different information and functions.

But What About Informed Consent?

Among the biggest hurdles to the use of these tags is consent. While a healthy, competent adult could certainly choose to have a tag implanted, there may be others who would not be able to say yes or no to the procedure.

That can include very young children, and the elderly who may have Alzheimer's disease or other types of dementia.

Additionally, those who have mental impairment or mental illness may struggle with understanding what the tag is for, and may not be able to consent to its usefulness and implantation.

Viruses and Hacking of People Instead of Machines

Computers and RFID scanners can get hacked. So can humans, if they have these implants. While storing data on a chip located inside the body may seem like the ultimate way of being safe when it comes to protecting information, that information can still be stolen under the right conditions.

In theory, medical data, access to a home or a secure facility, and anything else that was stored on the implant could be the target of a hacker and could be something that a person would not want accessed by others.

Controlling this kind of attack is very difficult, and data breaches happen every day in the technology sphere. Avoiding that with humans when it's so common with machines may not be realistic now, and may never be realistic, putting many people's data at near-constant risk.

One can only imagine what would happen to a society that relies on such chip implants to function if it were struck with a widescale virus.  In 2010, Dr. Mark Gasson from the University of Reading had a

chip inserted in his hand which was then infected with a virus.

In trials, Dr Gasson showed that the chip was able to pass on the computer virus to external control systems and if other implanted chips had then connected to the system they too would have been corrupted, he said.

"With the benefits of this type of technology come risks. We may improve ourselves in some way but much like the improvements with other technologies, mobile phones for example, they become vulnerable to risks, such as security problems and computer viruses."
