Study: MERS virus may be deadlier than SAR
Since last September, the World Health Organization has confirmed 90 cases of MERS, the Middle East respiratory syndrome, including 45 deaths. Most cases have been in Saudi Arabia, but the mysterious virus has also been identified in countries including Jordan, Qatar, Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Tunisia. MERS is related to SARS and the two diseases have similar symptoms including a fever, cough and muscle pain. “At the moment, the virus is still confined (to the Middle East),” said Dr. Christian Drosten of the University of Bonn Medical Centre in Germany, who wrote an accompanying commentary. “But this is a coronavirus and we know coronaviruses are able to cause pandemics.”

Watch Issa’s stinging rebuke of IRS chief for obstruction: I’m issuing subpoena!
Clearly angry, and at times standing, Issa accused Werfel and IRS Chief Counsel William Wilkins – the only IRS official other than Werfel appointed directly by President Obama – of deliberately withholding information by redacting the documents it did provide the committee to the point of uselessness. At one point, Issa displayed a sheet of paper almost entirely blacked out. “These are important fact to get out and you’re obstructing them,” Issa said, overriding Werfel’s attempts at denial.

Radical black activist Jesse Jackson has hustled down to Florida, toting his fundraising arm, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition. “The Rev” came all the way down to tell us that “Florida is an apartheid state” and “the Selma of our time” — and to help his accomplice in blackmail, Al Sharpton, with Big Al’s campaign to boycott the state. Florida Gov. Rick Scott has denounced Jackson’s remarks, saying the so-called civil rights leader owes all Floridians an apology.

Iran May Try New Path to Nukes

Iran may be preparing to use a heavy water reactor for producing weapons-grade plutonium, according to U.S. and European officials cited in the Wall Street Journal. This is an alternative method for reaching a nuclear bomb, which joins its existing uranium enrichment project.

A heavy-water reactor is an easier target to hit than the underground facilities that house Iran's uranium-enrichment facilities, the newspaper notes.

In recent months, said the U.S. and European officials, the Iranian regime has made significant advances on the construction of a heavy water reactor in the northwestern city of Arak. The spent fuel from the reactor under construction can serve as the raw material for making two nuclear bombs a year, said U.S. and U.N. officials. India, Pakistan and North Korea have all built plutonium-based bombs.

Iran has notified the International Atomic Energy Agency that it plans to make the reactor operational by the second half of 2014 and could begin testing it later this year.

“The IAEA has been monitoring Arak since its construction began,” wrote the Journal. “But following Iran's latest timeline, the site's importance has vastly shot up for Washington and Brussels, said U.S. and European officials. 'It really crept up on us,' said an official based at the IAEA's Vienna headquarters.”

The paper quoted “a senior European official involved in the Iran diplomacy” as saying, "At this stage, our most pressing concern is dealing with the enrichment of uranium. But we are increasingly concerned about activity…at Arak.”

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu publicly warned Iran in July not to move forward with the commissioning of the Arak reactor.

"They're pursuing an alternate route of plutonium…to build a nuclear bomb," he said on CBS's "Face the Nation" on July 14. "They haven't yet reached it, but they're getting closer to it. And they have to be stopped."

Dempsey in Israel to Talk About Syria and Iran

INN - Elad Benari

The U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, arrived in Israel on Sunday for a work visit, the Israel Defense website reported.

General Dempsey arrived as a guest of IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz, the report said, adding that the visit will focus on improving the military cooperation between the U.S. and Israel with regards to regional developments, such as the ongoing conflict in Syria.

Reports published in the U.S. and around the world have attributed attacks within Syria to Israel.

On Saturday it was reported that President Barack Obama was behind recent leaks by U.S. intelligence on Israeli air strikes in Syria.

Diplomats told the World Tribune that the Obama administration has enabled the U.S. intelligence community to disclose details of Israeli military operations against the armed forces under Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad. These leaks include reporting Israeli air and naval strikes on advanced Iranian and Russian weapons that arrived in 2013.

Israel Defense reported that another issue to be dealt with during Dempsey's visit is the Iranian nuclear program and concerns in Washington over the possibility that Israel might launch a surprise attack against Iran.

According to the website, Washington’s concerns have been fueled by recent statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

Speaking about the issue of Iranian nuclear weapons program in an interview to CBS two weeks ago, Netanyahu said that "Israel will have to consider how to stop Iran. The leaders in Tehran are mistaken if they think that we will allow them to reach a nuclear bomb. I am determined to do whatever is necessary to protect my country against a regime that repeatedly threatens its very destruction."

Speaking Sunday at a government meeting about the swearing in of new Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Netanyahu said that "Iran's president might have been replaced, but the regime has remained as it was."

"One of Iran's intentions is to develop nuclear capability and weapons with the purpose of destroying Israel. This is a risk for both Israel and the whole world, and we are all committed to preventing this from happening," he stated.

Dempsey last visited Israel in October of 2012, meeting with then-Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Gantz and with President Shimon Peres.

A previous visit by Dempsey was in January, during which he also met Barak, Gantz and Peres. At that time Dempsey stressed the “mutual commitment” between Israel and the U.S.

Last year Dempsey admitted that Israel and the United States view the Iranian nuclear threat differently.

“Israel sees the Iranian threat more seriously than the U.S. sees it, because a nuclear Iran poses a threat to Israel's very existence,” Dempsey said, adding that he and Gantz regularly confer on the issue.

“We speak at least once every two weeks, we compare intelligence reports, we discuss the security implications of the events in the region,” said Dempsey, adding, “At the same time, we admit that our clocks ticking at different paces. We have to understand the Israelis; they live with a constant suspicion with which we do not have to deal.”

Today multi-billionaire Hugo Salinas Price told King World News in stunning fashion what he believes to be the frightening plan to control the world going forward.  He described the people planning this as “barbarians,” and said, “this is not going to end well.”  He also issued this ominous warning, “I have very serious doubts about the survival of our civilization under such people.”  Below is what the multi-billionaire had to say in part I of a series of incredibly powerful interviews that will be released today on KWN.

Hugo Salinas Price:  “With regards to the social question in the world, in 1929 a Spanish thinker by the name of Ortega y Gasset wrote a book that really shook up the world titled, ‘The Revolt of the Masses.’  He was talking about the appearance on the world stage of new individuals.

He was writing about the growth of the population and the appearance of new individuals coming in to the mass of humanity.  And these individuals evidently are (what he described as) ‘barbarians.’….

“They came too suddenly to be educated, and for the knowledge of how to keep the Western way of life alive.  These (barbarian) people have increased (in numbers), and now they have taken over power (in the world).

So now we are in the hands of ‘barbarians.’  They have no idea of how our society came to be, and what is necessary to keep it going.  They are fiddling with the controls:  You might think of a monkey flying a 747 (airplane) — they don’t have any idea what they are doing.  And this is not going to end well with the barbarians at the controls.
