World powers hold talks on Iran's nuclear program

Only days after Iran was accused of secretly building a second uranium plant, world leaders sat at the table with representatives of the Iranian government to discuss their controversial nuclear program even as Germany said that Iran was failing to cooperate in the talks. As 5 members of the United Nations Security Council; Britain, China, France, Russia, and the United States plus Germany met with the Iranians, the head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog agency reported that Iran has been on the wrong side of the law in hiding the uranium plant, breaking a requirement of all members of the United Nations.

As these meetings are going on in Geneva, Switzerland the world is watching - especially the nation of Israel as they sit under a threat from Iran who said that Israel must be wiped off the Earth and they then test fired missiles that they say can reach any target in Israel.

Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News

As world leaders meet with Iran to discuss the threat of their nuclear program, a student of Bible prophecy realizes that this scenario can be found in the prophetic passages of God's word.

The game plan for the leaders of Iran over the years related to their nuclear program and the development of a weapon of mass destruction has been to talk until the talks fall apart, wait for some time, and then start new talks. This procedure has been repeated over and over and now a group of 6 major world powers have fallen into the trap and are now talking with the Iranians. This delaying action by Iran has only allowed this rogue nation to move closer to a nuclear weapon of mass destruction as they continue to enrich weapons grade uranium.

This scenario has set the stage for the prophetic scenario for the last days that can be found in Bible prophecy. Iran, referred to in Ezekiel 38: 5 as Persia, has given evidence that they want to have Israel removed from the Middle East, in fact, the entire world. Iran's president, Ahmadinejad, seemed to quote Psalm 83:4 when he called for Israel to be destroyed and her name be forgotten forever. Though Israel is preparing to defend itself from an Iranian nuclear attack, the Bible says that the Lord will intercede to protect the Jewish nation from Iran (Ezekiel 38:18 - 39:6).

Talks or no talks in Geneva - Bible prophecy will be fulfilled.

Warning Signs That Your Church May Become Emergent:

  1. Scripture is no longer the ultimate authority as the basis for Christian faith.
  2. The gospel of Jesus Christ is being replaced by humanistic methods promoting church growth and a social gospel.
  3. Little to no teaching on the second coming of Christ and the coming judgments.
  4. That Jesus Christ will rule and reign in a literal millennial period is considered unbiblical and heretical.
  5.  That the church has taken the place of Israel and Israel has no prophetic significance.
  6. That the book of Revelation does not refer to the future, but instead has been already fulfilled in the past or is allegorical.
  7. An experiential form of Christianity begins to be promoted as a method to reach the postmodern generation.
  8. Teaching that Christianity needs to be reinvented in order to provide meaning for this generation.
  9.  The pastor may implement an idea called "ancient-future" or "vintage Christianity" claiming that in order to take the church forward we need to go back in church history and find out what experiences were effective to get people to embrace Christianity.

10.  While the authority of the word of God is undermined, images and sensual experiences are promoted as the key to experiencing and knowing God.

11.   These experiences include icons, candles, incense, liturgy, labyrinths, prayer stations, contemplative prayer, experiencing the sacraments (for protestants), particularly the sacrament of the Eucharist.

12.  A strong emphasis on ecumenism indicating that a bridge is being established that leads in the direction of unity with the Roman Catholic Church. This will ultimately lead to the one world religion of Revelation.

13.  Protestant leaders are saying that the Reformation went too far. They are re-examining the claims of the "church fathers" saying that communion is more than a symbol and that Jesus actually becomes present in the wafer at communion.

14.  Some suggest there are many ways to God.

15.  Members of churches who question or resist the new changes that the pastor is implementing are reprimanded and usually asked to leave. If you are over age 50, your opinion will not even matter.

If you see any of these things happening in your Church, move your feet as fast as you can and get out of that church!

Tony Blair is Set to be Made the First President of Europe in Weeks,

He will be nominated by EU leaders in Brussels if, as expected, Ireland backs the hated Lisbon Treaty in tomorrow's referendum.

A senior Government source said: "If we get a 'Yes' vote it will all move very, very quickly. Tony could be named by the end of October."

The leaders of the EU's 27 nations, not the voters, will choose the president.

Former PM Mr Blair would not formally take up the powerful position until all EU countries ratified the Treaty.

Even if Ireland votes "Yes", Poland and the Czech Republic are still to decide. But Sweden, which currently holds the EU presidency, wants a president named by the end of this month - and Mr Blair is favourite.

Asked if Mr Blair was the only real candidate, French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner replied: "For the moment, indeed."

A senior French diplomat added: "Who will dare say no to Tony Blair?" He played down concerns about Mr Blair's support for the Iraq War.

Art's Commentary.....The new President of the EU could be the Antichrist, though he will not be known until after the church is raptured. This new President will be given unprecidented power over the EU nations. This certainly will be the office which Antichrist will occupy. The pace is quickening in the preparations for the final drama of the age which seems soon  to begin. In every area of endtime Bible prophecy the same quickening pace is evident. This perhaps is our last opportunity to sound out a warning to a world about to fall under the Day of the Lord Judgment. Though we do not know the day nor the hour, it seems we are at the very doors of the calling home of the church. Some will be ashamed at his appearance, let us be ready and watching.  The prophet said "Arise and be doing and the Lord be with thee".

Netanyahu Warns UN Against Accepting Goldstone Report

Netanyahu Warns UN on Goldstone Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu issued a last-gasp warning on Thursday to the 47 countries of the United Nations Human Rights Council, currently convening in Geneva. The Council is expected to vote on Friday whether to endorse and pass the Goldstone report on to the U.N. General Assembly.

It is expected that the Council will vote to accept the Goldstone findings, which conclude that both Israel and Hamas committed war crimes during Operation Cast Lead earlier this year. Israel launched the offensive after Gaza terrorists rained down thousands of rockets on Israeli towns and cities, killing over 20 people and making havoc of routine life in Israel’s western Negev.

“A vote will [soo be held in Geneva in the so-called UN Human Rights Council,” Netanyahu said, adding that “this council has made, in recent years, more resolutions against Israel than any of the 180 countries around the world.”

He said that if the committee decides to promote the Goldstone report, it would cause grave harm in three areas: It would grant legitimacy to the Hamas terrorist practice of attacking civilian targets while hiding behind other civilians. It would deal a blow to the UN status, reducing it to making “absurd” decisions. It would gravely harm the peace process, discouraging Israel from taking risks for peace for fear that it will not receive international backing. “I hope a majority [of the Counci will come to their senses,” Netanyahu said, but added, “We have no confidence in it; there is usually an automatic majority there against us.”

“If a majority is found to negate this report, it will avoid this severe blow,” Netanyahu said, “but if not, the responsibility will be on those countries who didn't pull themselves together in time.”

Israel's U.N. ambassador in Geneva, Aharon Leshno-Yaar, has admitted it is likely that the report will in fact be passed on to the U.N. General Assembly. But he said he is still seeking justice and a moral victory in having the countries of the West support Israel’s position.

How to Survive the Coming Martial Law in America

Book Report - Posted on WND (Excerpts) “Former Political Insider Discovers The Shocking Truth About A Vicious New Plan To Institute Martial Law... And Reveals How To Get Out Of Harm’s Way Before Globalists Pull The Trigger”     I saw the list the government was compiling... I knew who was at the top... and I couldn’t believe what I was reading!” I wondered how this advance copy came to be in my friend’s hands, but thought better than to ask. I was simply glad to have it... because in a clear and concise way it explained exactly what is happening behind the scenes and what establishment insiders want to happen. Even more importantly, the manuscript detailed precisely how the global elite and their families are preparing for dangerous times.

Look, if you’re thinking this is all just conspiracy hype, just consider for a moment some recent headlines:

  •  “44,000 UN Troops Train in US in operation Agile Provider”
  •  “Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke Warns of Martial Law if Bailout Not Approved”
  •  “General Barry McCaffery Confirms Thousands of Foreign Troops Are in the US to Assist with Domestic Emergencies”
  •  “Federal Government Collecting GPS Data on Every American Household”
  •  “Homeland Security Report Leaks; Tax Protestors, Abortion Opponents Are Terrorist Suspects”
  •  Pennsylvania Chapter of NAACP Urges Martial Law
  •  H.R.645 and the New FEMA Concentration Camps

The last one, H.R.645 was part of the plan I had read before and actually calls for Homeland Security to build no fewer than 6 national facilities for holding civilians. Trust me when I tell you that there is a plan in place for the suspension of all Constitutional Rights of Americans. The plan includes "interning" certain segments of the population if such a national emergency arises.

Almost daily you’ll find headlines telling the same story... and these are in establishment publications! The manuscript I had received ‘unofficially’ has now been rewritten to avoid security issues and copyright problems. It’s also been condensed to eliminate the fluff, tightly edited to deliver the more essential material and then finally republished with some very obvious pro-freedom observations.

The drumbeat goes on day after day, "He that hath ears to hear let him hear". We are living in the days of the final preparations for the closing drama of this age.

Iran Ready to Discuss Nukes in Return for Global Disarmament

Iran ready to discuss nukes in return for global disarmament | Jerusalem Post Iran is willing to discuss every aspect of its nuclear program, including all military aspects and the facility at Qom, recently revealed by US President Barack Obama ahead of a UN General Assembly meeting last week but monitored by several intelligence agencies over the past three years, if Western powers agree to discuss global nuclear disarmament, Israel Radio reported Thursday afternoon.

In England, Foreign Secretary David Miliband warned Iran that it must cooperate with international talks in Geneva about its nuclear program.

Miliband told an annual conference of Britain's governing Labour Party that discussions involving Iran, the US and five other world powers are vital to hopes of persuading Teheran to freeze its nuclear activities.

The US and allies accuse Iran of attempting to develop a nuclear weapon. Teheran rejects the claim, and insists it is constructing a civilian power program.

"Our message to Iran is simple: do not mistake respect for weakness," Miliband said, speaking in Brighton, southern England.

"After 16 months of prevarication, they need to get serious. Over the next few months, the stakes could not be higher - the Arab world on tenterhooks, Israel on alert," Miliband told delegates.

Britain has sent a senior diplomat, Mark Lyall Grant, to the Geneva talks.

The US and five other world powers began the high-stakes talks Thursday with Iran to demand a freeze of its nuclear activities, with a senior US official saying Washington is open to rare one-on-one talks with Iranian diplomats. A private Iranian-US meeting would be the first of its kind in over 30 years.

The EU's Javier Solana, who is formally heading the one-day negotiations with chief Iranian negotiator Saeed Jalili, was upbeat before the start of the talks in an 18th century villa in Geneva. The US official briefed reporters, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the private nature of the talks.

A bilateral meeting with Iran would reflect Washington's determination to get results from the meeting.

The fact that the meeting is taking place at all offers some hope, reflecting both sides' desire to talk, despite a spike in tensions over last week's revelations by Iran that it had been secretly building a new uranium enrichment plant.

Yet Teheran's acknowledgment that it had kept silent on the plant - which can make both nuclear fuel and fissile warhead cores - has left the Western powers with only modest expectations about the success of the talks.

While the West fears that Iran's nuclear program aims to make a bomb, Iran insists the program is strictly for peaceful use and has refused to negotiate any limits on it.

If the talks fail, the US and its Western allies are expected to renew their push for a fourth set of UN Security Council sanctions.

In addition to the United States and Iran, the countries meeting Thursday include members of the UN Security Council and Germany. The US delegation is headed by William Burns, the under secretary of state for political affairs.

The State Department stressed its hope that the session would open the door to more in-depth dialogue about ways Iran could alleviate concerns that its emerging nuclear program may be secretly developing nuclear weapons.

If Iran is willing to address the nuclear issues, then there likely will be subsequent meetings, State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said in Washington.

"That process will take some time," Crowley said. "We're not going to make a snap judgment on Thursday. We're going to see how that meeting goes, evaluate the willingness of Iran to engage on these issues."

Russia's UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin, asked what Moscow hoped from the talks, said: "To have a start that has a continuation."

Chinese diplomats have also been urging Iran to negotiate with the six powers, UN diplomats said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Crowley noted that US President Barack Obama has said he intends to take a few months to assess Iran's position and consult with negotiating partners before deciding what next steps to take.

Diplomats at UN headquarters in New York said there has been no discussion of a new sanctions resolution. Several said they wanted to wait for a report from the UN nuclear agency on its inspection of Iran's newly disclosed nuclear facility and to see Teheran's response to the incentives if it starts negotiations.

In Teheran, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the talks will gauge others' respect for Iran's rights.

"This meeting is a test to measure the extent of sincerity and commitment of some countries to law and justice," Ahmadinejad said Wednesday, according to the official IRNA news agency.

The US, Britain, France, Russia and Germany are being represented by senior officials. Only China, which appears most opposed to new UN sanctions on Teheran, is sending a relatively low-level representative.

A US government official confirmed to The Associated Press that commercial satellite images taken of the purported nuclear site near Iran's holy city of Qom are generally accurate.

At least three private sector imagery analysts in the United States have focused on the site because it fits the description given by the US government: it is 30 kilometers from Qom, it is built into a mountainside and it has features consistent with a secret nuclear facility, parts of which the US government says are underground.

Neither the US government nor Iran has officially confirmed the location or the accuracy of the commercial imagery analysis.

At best, Thursday's talks could start lowering passions over the hidden plant, Iran's three-year defiance of the UN Security Council's enrichment ban and Western assertions that Teheran is a supporter of terror - and lead to another meeting later this year.

That, in turn, could be the start of a process that could not only end the threat of an Israeli or US strike against Iran's nuclear facilities as a last resort. It could ultimately lead to an agreement on a limited Iranian uranium enrichment program - but under tight international control meant to banish concerns that it could be turned toward making warhead material.

Such hopes are tenuous. Since the five nations first proposed political and economic concessions to Teheran for a full stop to its enrichment activities three years ago, Iran has expanded the program. It now has more than 8,000 centrifuges set up in its cavernous underground facility at Natanz, with most working to churn out fuel-grade enriched uranium.

The initial set of UN sanctions in 2006 focused on banning trade with Iran in materials, equipment, goods and technology that could contribute to Iran's uranium enrichment program. Iran says its program is intended to provide fuel for civilian power reactors, but the US suspects it could be used to make nuclear weapons.

UN sanctions against Iran were expanded in March 2007 by banning arms exports from Iran and imposing a freeze on the financial assets of 28 individuals and entities. More sanctions in March 2008 restricted the import by Iran of dual-use technologies - those that can be used for both civilian and military purposes.

God's Promise to Israel

God promised Abraham three things:

  a  Land

  a  Seed

  a  Blessing

The Blessing

“And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:  And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”  Genesis 12: 2, 3

First Blessing -  Salvation made available to all mankind through Abraham’s seed. “For unto you is born this day in the city David, a Saviour which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11

Second Blessing - A glorious, earthly kingdom of righteousness and peace, which will stand forever. “And, behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb and bring forth a Son, and shalt call His name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the highest; and the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of His Father David: and He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever and of His kingdom there shall be no end.” Luke 1: 31-33

The Seed

“And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth; so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered”. Genesis 13:16
“And I will establish my covenant between Me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and thy seed after thee.” Gen 17:7 Later God confirmed that the seed would come through Isaac and Jacob.

The Land

“And the Lord said unto Abram after that Lot was separated from him, lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward and southward, and eastward and westward: for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever.”  Notice - “to thee”, “to thy seed”, “forever”. The writer to the Hebrews says that “it is impossible for God to lie.”

If God CAN lie to Abraham about the Promised Land to Israel then He CAN lie to us about the promise of eternal salvation, but God CANNOT lie!

God’s purposes for Israel and for World Government are bound up in the land. God made two major covenants with Israel.

  • The first was a Works covenant. Two parties were involved, God and man. Both had to keep their promise, man failed, making the covenant of no effect.
  • The second was a covenant of Grace. It involved only one party, God. Man was not involved in it, he made no promise. This covenant will always stand because it depends on God and God alone.

In Genesis 15:8 Abram said, “Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?” (The land) Lord how do I know that it will ever happen? How do I know you won’t change your mind? How do I know that when my seed displeases you, that you won’t cancel the promise? Lord, give me assurance that you will do what you say. Lord, prove it to me.

In the verses that follow (9-18) God did just that, study them and you will see that God made an unconditional, one-sided, eternal, promise (covenant) to Abram, in which his seed would inherit the Promised Land forever.

God said to Abraham, as long as the Sun, Moon and the Stars are in the sky my promises to Israel will not fail. (Study also Hosea 3:4, 5 and Jeremiah 31: 8-10, 35-37.)

M.R. DeHaan stated “to take the promises God made to the nation of Israel in regard to Palestine and their future glory and restoration; and to spiritualize them to the Church is one of the greatest of all evils which has ever beset the Church”.

It blinds our eyes to grace and closes our vision to the program of God for the closing days of this age. God’s Grace is greater than all of Israel’s sin; the dividing line for individual Jews is faith or unbelief, not God’s Grace. Romans 11:26

Today the whole world is saying Israel must give up the land God promised to them and the land God restored to them.  On September 24, President Obama in an address to the UN, condemned Israel’s presence in Judea, Samaria and East Jerusalem. He said, “that he does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements” and called to “end the occupation that began in 1967.”
David Halvri, head of the Shromron Liaison Office, stated that, “President Obama’s speech reflects his failure to understand the basic issues,” which he went on to list:

  1. Jewish “settlements” in Judea are not illegal; Geneva 1V is not applicable.
  2. Israel has not illegally “occupied” anyone else’s land.
  3. The armistice lines of 1949 were never accepted by any Arab country as Israel’s borders; nor does Israel consider them as such.
  4. A second or third (Gaza) Arab Palestine state will not resolve core issues (refugees – Jerusalem – etc) the solution is regional and comprehensive, not local and piecemeal.
  5. Opposition to Jewish building in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria is rank discrimination.
  6. Palestinian terrorism and incitement are ongoing and officially sanctioned; it must stop immediately before anything else.

It is also true that prior to the war of 1948 there never was a Palestinian entity on the land they now claim. The 1967 war in which Israel gained control over Judea, Samaria and East Jerusalem was a miraculous war in which God so obviously intervened to give Israel victory and return them to the land He promised them.

Obama went on to say that the U.S. would put more pressure on Israel to accept Arab demands. Barack Obama, in the words of John Bolton, former US Ambassador to the UN, has put Israel on the chopping block. He has made America Israel`s enemy for the sake of pleasing the Arab nations. But not only has he made Israel his enemy, he has made God his enemy. God said to Abraham, “I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee,” Gen. 12:3.  It matters not that Israel is still living outside the place of obedience to God, He will deal with Israel. The President has placed America under the curse of God. Judgment will fall on America, only God knows when and what that judgment will be.

When I was a young man the British Empire dominated the entire world, they bragged that the sun never set on the British Empire. Then Great Britain, which had been Israel’s benefactor, turned against Israel in the same way Obama has done. History records, that in a few short years the Empire vanished and was no more.

The fact is that God has been sending warnings to America for some time now, those warnings have gone unheeded.  In fact, Obama, instead of heading the warnings, has plunged into total defiance of God. Today the signs of America`s soon coming demise are multiplying.

Peter Schiff, president of Euro Pacific Capital and author of Crash Proof 2.0 recently stated: "Ben Bernanke is keeping his record of perfection intact of never getting anything right. Once again he's gotten it wrong," Schiff says. "If the Fed really thought the economy was sound, why does he have it on life support? If he pulls the plug, our sick economy is going to die."
Although the Fed never said the economy is "sound", Schiff is referring to the FOMC's renewed pledge that "economic conditions are likely to warrant exceptionally low levels of the federal funds rate for an extended period."
Nothing that's occurred in the past six months has changed Schiff's view that America's economy is headed for disaster. In fact, he's even more convinced a true "currency crisis" awaits, and that China will soon stop enabling our reckless borrowing, the basis of our "phony" economy. The coming collapse of the dollar and bursting of the Treasury bubble will have devastating consequences for ordinary Americans, and any investors based in dollars, he says.

There are other warning signs of the imminent collapse of America, signs too numerous to deal with here. America has collapsed morally and spiritually. Obama is moving the country down the road to socialism, there is the possibility of a reaction which could have devastating effects.

The whole world is on a collision course with the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. That is the issue in our world today! God’s response will be, the Day of the Lord Judgment.

“I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead (judge) with them there for my people and for my inheritance Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted My land.” Joel 3:2
“Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the Day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand:” Joel 2:1

When Jeremiah warned Israel of the soon coming judgment of God upon them the people said, Jeremiah your crazy, you are not God`s messenger, everything will be just fine. They put Jeremiah in jail to shut him up. But the judgment of God did come upon them.

A Betrayal of Israelis and Palestinians Alike

Edited from the speech given by Israel's ambassador to the UN before the UN Human Rights Council on Tuesday.

Five years ago, in a remarkable gesture of peace, Israel removed every one of its soldiers and over 8,000 civilians from the Gaza Strip. And the states of the Human Rights Council (HRC), applauded this unprecedented measure. They told us in no uncertain terms that in the nightmare scenario that terror would take root, they would back us in our inherent right to self-defense.

Five years later, the greenhouses we left behind had been ransacked by Hamas, over 8,000 rockets and mortars had been fired on schools and kindergartens in Sderot and other Israeli towns, and an unceasing supply of weaponry was smuggled through tunnels into Gaza from terror-sponsoring states like Iran.

Israel's urgent appeals to the international community were to no avail, and our attempts to extend a fragile cease-fire were met with new, increased barrages of missiles from Hamas. All the while the range of the attacks was increasing. Now Ashkelon and Beersheba were within reach. One million Israelis had to live within seconds of a bomb shelter.

The decision to launch a military operation is never easy. It is even more challenging when we have to face an enemy that intentionally deploys its forces in densely populated areas and launches rockets from crowded school yards and mosques. These are new and horrendous challenges, and we sought to deal with them responsibly and humanely. Yet when we dropped millions of leaflets and made thousands of phone calls to warn civilians in advance of operations, we were witness to the callous and deliberate Hamas tactic of sending women and children onto the rooftops of terrorist headquarters and weapons factories. In such cases, missions were aborted, letting the terrorists escape. Israel protected Palestinian civilians that Hamas had put at risk.

IN GRAPPLING with these dilemmas we sought the guidance of other states. We may not have all the right answers but we struggle to ask the right questions. And in discussions between officials charged with securing the lives of their civilians we hear genuine admiration for our restraint. For example, when Colonel Richard Kemp was asked about Israel's conduct in Gaza, he replied: "I don't think there has ever been a time in the history of warfare when any army has made more efforts to reduce civilian casualties and deaths of innocent people than the IDF in Gaza."

In complex urban warfare, though, civilian casualties are tragically inevitable. There also may have been incidents in which soldiers did not always maintain the standards that we expected of them. The true test of a genuine democracy is how it deals with such cases. Following the Gaza Operation, Israel has opened over 100 separate investigations into operational questions, like damage to UN centers and medical facilities, as well as specific allegations of misconduct. Of these investigations, 23 have already resulted in criminal proceedings. And this process continues.

Israel struggles to deal with these tough questions, raised by terrorists acting within civilian centers.

But these questions seem to not occupy the authors of the shameful report which was presented to the HRC.

Like many other states, we could not support a resolution which only addressed one side of the conflict, and which established four separate mechanisms to condemn Israel and not even one to examine Hamas.

Like many of the distinguished individuals who rejected invitations to head the fact-finding mission with its one-sided mandate, we objected to a mission which, in the words of Mary Robinson, was "guided by politics, not human rights."

While Israel has cooperated with dozens of inquiries and investigations from international organizations into the events in Gaza, it refused to cooperate with this Mission. And the report presented Tuesday justifies that decision.

This is a report in which the right of self-defense is not mentioned, in which the smuggling of weapons into Gaza through hundreds of tunnels deserves not a word.

A report based on pre-screened Palestinian witnesses, not one of whom was asked about Hamas terrorist activity or the abuse of civilians, hospitals and mosques for terrorist attacks.

A report which gives credibility to every allegation or hearsay against Israel, and none to even direct admissions of guilt by Hamas leaders

AS JUSTICE Goldstone revealed in an open correspondence: "We did not deal with the problems of conducting military operations in civilian areas. We avoided having to do so in the incidents we decided to investigate."

The authors of this "Fact-finding Mission" had little concern with finding facts. The report was instigated as part of a political campaign, and it represents a political assault directed against Israel and against every state forced to confront terrorist threats. Its recommendations are fully in line with its one-sided agenda.

Unlike the Hamas terrorists who rejoice with every civilian death, Israel regards every civilian casualty as a tragedy and is committed to fully examining every allegation of wrongdoing, not because of this report, but despite it.

For let there be no doubt - this report will do nothing to ease the lives of those in Sderot and Gaza City, Kiryat Shmona and Jenin. In providing support and vindication for terrorist tactics, it is a betrayal of Israelis and moderate Palestinians alike.

Regrettably the report, claiming to represent international law but in fact perverting it to serve a political agenda, can only weaken its standing in future conflicts. It broadcasts a troubling - and legally unfounded - message to states everywhere confronting terrorist threats, that international law has no effective response to offer them, and so serves to undermine willingness to comply with its provisions. At the same time, it signals an even more troubling message to terrorist groups that the cynical tactics of seeking to exploit civilian suffering for political ends actually pays dividends.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we want to find a way to live in peace with our neighbors. This is the ultimate question that Prime Minister Netanyahu asked the General Assembly last week: "The same UN that cheered Israel as it left Gaza and promised to back our right of self-defense now accuses us ... of war crimes? And for what? For acting responsibly in self-defense? [...] Israel justly defended itself against terror. This biased and unjust report is a clear-cut test for all governments. Will you stand with Israel or will you stand with the terrorists? Because if Israel is again asked to take more risks for peace, we must know today that you will stand with us tomorrow. Only if we have the confidence that we can defend ourselves can we take further risks for peace."
