UN Wants New Global Currency to Replace Dollar
Sep 10th, 2009

The dollar should be replaced with a global currency, the United Nations has said, proposing the biggest overhaul of the world's monetary system since the Second World War.

Crumpled dollar bill - UN wants new global currency to replace dollar

A number of countries, including China and Russia, have suggested replacing the dollar as the world's reserve currency

In a radical report, the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has said the system of currencies and capital rules which binds the world economy is not working properly, and was largely responsible for the financial and economic crises.

It added that the present system, under which the dollar acts as the world's reserve currency , should be subject to a wholesale reconsideration.

Although a number of countries, including China and Russia, have suggested replacing the dollar as the world's reserve currency, the UNCTAD report is the first time a major multinational institution has posited such a suggestion.

In essence, the report calls for a new Bretton Woods-style system of managed international exchange rates, meaning central banks would be forced to intervene and either support or push down their currencies depending on how the rest of the world economy is behaving.

The proposals would also imply that surplus nations such as China and Germany should stimulate their economies further in order to cut their own imbalances, rather than, as in the present system, deficit nations such as the UK and US having to take the main burden of readjustment.

"Replacing the dollar with an artificial currency would solve some of the problems related to the potential of countries running large deficits and would help stability," said Detlef Kotte, one of the report's authors. "But you will also need a system of managed exchange rates. Countries should keep real exchange rates [adjusted for inflation] stable. Central banks would have to intervene and if not they would have to be told to do so by a multilateral institution such as the International Monetary Fund."

The proposals, included in UNCTAD's annual Trade and Development Report , amount to the most radical suggestions for redesigning the global monetary system.

Although many economists have pointed out that the economic crisis owed more to the malfunctioning of the post-Bretton Woods system, until now no major institution, including the G20 , has come up with an alternative.

Art's Commentary......There are two very significant things involved in this proposal.   First  this will involve a major movement toward world government. Second  the US would loose the tremendous advantage it has had up to now.

Satan's Approaches

John 15:18-25 “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also. If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, they hated me without a cause.”

This world is not only under the control of Satan but he also has several approaches of deception and one of these is false religion because he knows that man has an innate desire to be religious and he also knows that he can use religion to captivate the minds of men. The greatest persecutors of Christianity under the direction of Satan have always been false religions and cults, even though they often operated under the guise or the appearance of godly living.

It’s amazing to see how the devil duplicates everything that’s considered Christian, so that people can appear to be religious without ever having had to repent of their sin and make a commitment to Jesus Christ. I was thinking about the many approaches that Satan takes and I just want to go through a few. First and foremost there’s religion and there are those who meet this need to be spiritual by being part of a group with religious overtones whether it’s a church that doesn’t preach the gospel or a group with a religious feel to it. They all have religious rituals, regular meetings, they usually open in prayer, they give money to the needy and they have a sense of belonging in that they’re committed to the group itself. It’s just like being part of the body of Christ without having to live for God.

Then there are others who advocate prayer, fasting or meditation and all these things are taught in scripture but many of these people are doing these things for reasons other than getting close to God. They pray in the sense that they talk to themselves and they tell themselves that everything is going to work out. It’s their way of forgetting what’s bothering them. They fast to cleanse their bodies from the impurities of their diets and balance their metabolic systems. (Whatever that means.) And then they meditate or make their minds blank to free themselves from the stress of the world. All this sounds good and religious but the Bible teaches us; we are to pray to communicate with God, we are to fast to get closer to Him and we are to meditate on the word of God to purify our hearts and minds.

And there are other areas where Satan has tries to get man to ignore God and the Bible like the issue of creation and the so-called intelligent crowd has gone to extremes to show us that the world came from nothing and is going no where. And do you know what always baffles me? This same crowd emphasizes how we all need to be conscious of the envoirment. Listen, if life is meaningless than why should we waste time worrying about the world we live in, the next generation or even the problems of those who are starving. After all, according to their theories of life everybody is going to die anyway and all the money we spend on them, we could have been wasted on ourselves. Now, it sounds like a selfish view of life, but if life is meaningless and ends up no where then why would it matter?

Then there’s the issue of salvation and Satan tells us, there’s no such thing as sin and so none of us needs to be saved since there’s nothing to be saved from. He just says our problem is that we haven’t evolved enough to overcome the concept of sin. And once the human race evolves on it’s own it will root out all the abnormal people who are abusive to others and then we’ll reach a level of perfection. But listen, does it look like the world is getting better?

Then there’s his approach to the church and he tries to get our attention focused on ourselves rather than on God where it should be. And that’s why we see things going on like bizarre rock concerts and Christian comedians rather than preaching and they call these worship services but that’s man centered religion.

Then there’s his approach to evangelism and Satan likes to either water down the message or use the means of reaching people to seem offensive. I remember visiting in the hospital a few years ago and I had a word of prayer with a lady who was very sick and even though she was a member of my church, since I was new in town and didn’t know her, I shared the gospel and then I left a tract for her to read.

Well, her daughter-in-law who was a member of a liberal church went completely bananas when she saw the tract and had her pastor call me; then he and I had coffee and he told me why she was offended. He said she thought I inferred that her mother-in-law wasn’t going to heaven and then he gave me a few tracts that weren’t as offensive. They sure weren’t. They would offend or influence anybody. They had real nice pictures of sheep and the twenty-third psalm inside. They were the kind of tract that any non-Christian would be glad to receive. In other words, it was Satan’s approach to evangelism.

Then there’s Satan’s approach to giving. And he would have us all give anywhere and any amount as long as it’s not used to get the gospel out. You see, my point is, there’s not an area of the Christian life where Satan hasn’t gotten in and tried to cause problems and misunderstanding. After all, he knows if he can get us busy fighting with one another then we won’t have the heart to fight the fight of faith. And why does he do all this? He does all these things because as Jesus says, he hates us and he not only wants us to fail in everything we do but he also wants us to fail in our attempts to reach other people as well.

Satan is called “the accuser of the brethren” in Revelation 12:10 and there are many ways he accuses us. He always makes bad things look good and convinces us that we’re really going to miss something great when it’s not worth seeing in the first place, then he tells us we’re better or smarter than we really are and convinces us that everything we do that’s wrong is private and no one is ever going to know about it; but as soon as we do the thing we know we shouldn’t have done in the first place, he tells us we’re useless and wicked sinners who really don’t love God or anybody else and we don’t deserve to be saved let alone used in the ministry. Listen, he’s not the funny little guy in the red suit. He’s the enemy of our souls and he will do everything he can to keep us from getting saved and then he does everything he can to keep us from being a witness to others. So, how’s he doing with you?

Oil drilling companies in Israel believe there could be a major source of oil at the Dead Sea

An oil drilling consortium which includes companies who found billions of dollars in natural gas off the Israeli coast are making ready to look for what they refer to as black gold in an area along the Dead Sea. Investors hope to find a major source of oil and this is based on seismic surveys in the Dead Sea area which is already a source of potassium and potash which have made the Dead Sea Works one of the world's largest exporters of the materials used for making fertilizer.

The Dead Sea, known in the Bible as the Salt Sea, is a body of water that has the densest concentration of salt and other materials in the world and is found at the lowest point on the Earth where fish and plant life do not exist in the highly salty water.

Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News

The possibility of a major oil source being found at the Dead Sea in Israel could well impact the end times scenario that is found in Bible prophecy.

For years speculators have believed that oil could be found somewhere in Israel. Some of these so-called wildcatters have raised millions of dollars to drill for the oil that could possibly be somewhere in the Jewish state. Now a very legitimate consortium of oil drillers are ready to invest their own money to see if there indeed is a major oil source at the Dead Sea as seismic surveys seem to indicate is the case.

Whether this consortium finds a major source or not the Dead Sea is already an economic money machine. The Dead Sea Works extracts potassium, potash, and other minerals and chemicals from the Dead Sea that has become a large part of Israel's economy.

Bible prophecy refers to some type of spoil that will draw Russia and the coalition of nations found in Ezekiel 38, Daniel 11, and Psalm 83 into Israel in an effort to destroy the Jewish state and reap the benefits of some type of a spoil (Ezekiel 38:12-13). In fact, verse 13 refers to gold and silver as the spoil and remember, the oil drilling consortium referred to the oil at the Dead Sea as "black gold". I believe, however, that there could well be real gold in the Dead Sea, a belief also held by many Israeli officials.

The latest natural gas find off the Israeli coast and the potential for oil at the Dead Sea continues to make Israel a prized prey for her enemies to come after. Bible prophecy will be fulfilled.

Obama Shows True Colors in Mideast Negotiations

A political activist and former presidential candidate is calling President Obama to task for arguing the Palestinian case against Israel on the question of new Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

Israel recently defied U.S. pressure to halt construction in its West Bank settlements by announcing it intends to construct about 500 new apartments there. But The Associated Press has reported that while the Israeli government announced its plans to build the new units, it is also outlining the idea of a subsequent partial freeze in settlement construction -- an apparent attempt by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to balance demands from both his conservative base and the Obama administration, which has called on Israel to halt all settlement construction.

In taking this action, Netanyahu risks angering both sides. The White House immediately criticized the new building as detrimental to achieving Mideast peace, while members of the prime minister's Likud Party opposed limiting settlement construction at all.

Gary Bauer, chairman of American Values, is a staunch supporter of the nation of Israel.

"Whatever happens, I hope this is the end of the White House pressuring Israel to make concessions on issues that ought to be in the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians," he says. "How in the world did we get into the situation where the president of the United States is basically at the negotiating table arguing the Palestinian case against our friends and allies in Israel?"

Bauer suggests there appears to be some sort of deal-making going on behind the scenes.

Israeli Minister: Land of the Bible is Ours!

Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Moshe Yaalon on Wednesday insisted that Jews have a right to live wherever they please, but especially in the ancient lands of their biblical forefathers.

"Jews have an unassailable right to settle anywhere, particularly here, the land of the Bible," said Yaalon during a ceremony marking 25 years since the founding of the Samarian Jewish settlement of Eli.

Yaalon, who also serves as one of Israel's vice prime ministers, said that communities like Eli "breathe life into the Zionist vision in the face of rising Arab nationalism," and urged the rest of Israel to follow the settlers' example.

Yaalon warned that previous Israeli withdrawals had whetted the appetites of the nation's enemies, and that any further concessions would only make matters worse. Yaalon was head of the Israeli army when former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was preparing to uproot the Jewish communities of Gaza. Yaalon opposed the so-called "disengagement" and was prematurely relieved of his post as a result.

Israeli Group to Start Drilling for Dead Sea Oil

An Israeli consortium that includes a group largely responsible for the recent discovery of natural gas deposits off the country's Mediterranean coast plans to begin exploratory drilling for oil at the Dead Sea next month.

The Delek Group headed by Yitzhak Tshuva previously headed the consortium that found billions of dollars worth of natural gas just 50 miles off the coast of the northern Israel city of Haifa. Tshuva is convinced that other sources of energy exist in the country, including oil deposits worth at least half a billion dollars under and around the Dead Sea.

Following his consortium's natural gas find earlier this year, Tshuva said he believed Israel would very soon become energy independent, and even start exporting natural gas, leading to a major economic revolution in the country.

But Tshuva won't be alone in his search for oil in Israel. Texas-based, Christian-run Zion Oil & Gas has been searching for oil in Israel since 2000. Founder John Brown says the Bible makes it clear Israel will be energy independent in the last days. The company's two exploratory drillings have so far given inconclusive results, but have sparked enough optimism for Zion Oil & Gas to continue its operations.

Iran Can Probably Already Build Nuclear Bomb

US envoy Glyn Davies told a gathering of the International Atomic Energy Agency's Board of Governors on Wednesday that Iran has probably already stockpiled enough enriched uranium to build at least one nuclear bomb.

Davies and other US officials concluded earlier in the year that Iran would not be able to field a nuclear weapon until 2013, at the earliest, and IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei insisted last month that the Iran nuclear scare was "exaggerated."

But those positions were quickly reassessed at Wednesday's meeting, where the US and its European partners agreed to urgently prod Iran to enter serious negotiations over its nuclear program.

"Iran is now either very near or in possession already of sufficient low-enriched uranium to produce one nuclear weapon if the decision were made to further enrich it to weapons-grade ... (This) moves Iran closer to a dangerous and destabilizing possible breakout capacity," said Davies in remarks carried by Reuters.

Iran reportedly responded to the renewed pressure by promising to start talks with Western power brokers "very soon," but observers noted that if Iran is really so close to building a nuclear bomb, there may be nothing left to talk about.
