Uae 'seizes N Korea Arms Cargo'

The United Arab Emirates has seized a ship illegally carrying embargoed North Korean weapons bound for Iran, diplomatic sources at the UN have said.

A diplomat told the AFP news agency that the UAE had informed UN officials responsible for implementing sanctions on Pyongyang.

The UK-based Financial Times reported earlier on Friday that the ship was seized "some weeks ago".

It said the armaments included rocket-propelled grenades.

The arms had been falsely labelled as "machine parts," the Financial Times reported, adding that the vessel was still being held in the UAE.

The diplomatic source told AFP that the issue was being dealt with by the UN Security Council's sanctions committee, and declined to comment further.

A new round of UN sanctions on North Korea was approved unanimously on 12 June, following a nuclear weapons test by Pyongyang and subsequent missile launches.

The UN resolution, which aimed to cut arms exports as a source of revenue for North Korea, also called for tougher inspections of air, sea and land shipments to and from the hard-line communist state.

U.S. Eases Demands, But Israelis Still Don't Trust Obama

The Obama Administration was seen on Thursday to be slightly easing demands that Israel halt all settlement activity as a precondition for renewed peace talks, but a new poll showed that most Israelis still don't trust the new American president.

Speaking to reporters in Washington, US State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said that Washington's positions regarding the building of Jewish homes in areas claimed by the Palestinians had not changed, but that the Obama Administration was ready to be more flexible and certainly wasn't going to impose conditions.

Crowley added, however, that while the US was ready to be more flexible, it would be up to the Arabs to decide if they were willing to restart peace talks even while new Jewish homes are being built. For anyone familiar with the conflict, that is a non-starter that the Obama Administration is certainly not in the dark about.

But even with Obama trying to distance himself from the hardline demands on Israel and the right for Jews to live where they choose, a poll conducted this week on behalf of The Jerusalem Post revealed that a mere four percent of Israelis believe the American leader is looking out for their interests.

Fifty-one percent of respondents said they view Obama's policies as overtly pro-Palestinian, and 35 percent said the US president is managing to maintain a neutral position.

The Story of How Humans Evolved

Evolutionists claim humans have evolved over millions of years from brute ape-like creatures that were our ancestors. Further evolutionists claim they can document this alleged history of our ancestors based on clues from the fossil record. As proof, they often refer to the lineage of ape-human ancestors as “the story of our origins”.

But stop and think for a moment. Can “stories” be used to as the basis for “scientific” argumentation?

Ape Man: The Story of Human Evolution is the title of a book that has also been made into a television documentary claiming that modern man has evolved from brute-ape creatures. The book and the documentary are full of claims saying that “science” has discovered the truth about who we are and where we have come from.

For example, consider the following statement that is made in the introduction of the book:

Based on interviews with leading scientists working all over the world, Ape Man explores the story of our evolution, and of the people who have devoted their lives to discovering the truth about our origins. There have been many species of human-like creatures in the past. Now all but Homo sapiens are extinct.

It is true that science is supposed to be dedicated to the search for truth. It is also true that many scientists have dedicated their lives to searching for the truth. However, not all scientists, in their search for truth, are dedicated to the scientific method as a means of finding the truth.

The previous statement I quoted, although it seems to be made in support of the search for truth, actually indicates what some scientists do (in an attempt to become famous scientists). Rather than gather facts, they take fragments and turn them into ancestors.

What do I mean by that?

Well, recall what the statement said: “there have been many species of human-like creatures in the past - now all but Homo sapiens are extinct.”

The facts show, there are no living intermediates – all of the supposed ancestors of man have died out – they are extinct. Therefore it is the task of “science” to reconstruct these alleged ancestors. We have monkeys and we have humans in the world today – but we don’t have the living relatives between. It is the responsibility, therefore, of “science,” to fill in the gaps.

This is where it becomes interesting. Especially for people who are not so easily convinced that the “story of our origins” is “good science.” Good science must be based on good observations that provide sound conclusions. When I see a painting or a model of an alleged ancestor that is based on a fragment of a jaw, a toe bone, or a footprint that looks like my own, I wonder how scientific this “story” really is. Is it possible a story is being told that is based on biased assumptions in order to provide evidence that isn’t evidence at all?

I am convinced this may well be the case. Based on years of studying the claims of evolutionists and looking at the so-called evidence, it appears to me that some of the stories that have been presented in the name of science are nothing more than stories. Zealous promoters of science who use stories rather than science, may be convincing to the unsuspecting who have placed their trust in “scientists with credentials”.

However, this may not be science. In fact it would be appropriate to call it what it is - pseudoscience.

East Jerusalem Must be Included in Freeze'

East Jerusalem must be included in a freeze of settlement activity before Middle East peace talks can restart, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul-Gheit said Friday.

Aboul-Gheit told reporters in Stockholm that Jerusalem is Arab "and it will continue to be so." He added that the Arab world expects the area to be included in a moratorium on settlements.

The Egyptian foreign minister warned that peace talks would last only as long as a freeze on settlement construction was held in place. "If the Israelis announced that the freeze will last six months, then negotiations will last six months as well," he stressed.

US officials have denied reports that Washington has agreed to leave east Jerusalem out of the agreement and settle for a nine- to 12-month freeze in the West Bank.

Aboul-Gheit's comments came a day after NGO Ir Amim said that plans Plans to move an additional 750 Jews into Arab areas of east Jerusalem have been advanced throughout the first half of 2009.

The process of moving more Jews into such neighborhoods, where there are already about 2,000 Jewish residents, has been accelerated specifically for areas that "lie at the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," according to Ir Amim, a non-profit group that engages Israeli-Palestinian issues in the capital.

Art's Commentary.......The Arabs claim Jerusalem as their own and say that it belongs to them and not to Israel. God says otherwise in His Word,  "But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel,"  2 Chronicles 6:6. We know from scripture that the Lord, in refering to David, was refering to the greater son of David, Christ.  We read in Luke 1:32,33 about this future day when Christ will rule from Jerusalem on the throne of David. "He shall be great, and shall be called the son of the Highest; and the Lord shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end". Sorry Arabs, Jerusalem does not belong to you, you are playing with fire, the scripture says in Hebrews 12:29, "Our God is a consuming fire", think of Sodom and Gomorrah. To see the fate of those non Jews who claim the land of Israel and Jerusalem in the last days see Jeremiah 38-39.

 70% Likud Against Bibi Policies
Seventy-four percent of the public believes it is “not OK” that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu made unilateral decisions regarding a building freeze instead of consulting with his cabinet and coalition. The widespread opposition to Netanyahu's decision was revealed this week in a Maagar Mochot (Brain Base) poll, commissioned by Dr. Aaron Lerner's IMRA (Independent Media Review and Analysis).

The public also opposes the government policy of demolishing unauthorized Jewish towns in Judea and Samaria. Some 61 percent of those surveyed thought that the issue of unauthorized Jewish outposts should be solved by granting the outposts official government approval, instead of destroying them.

70% of Likud Against Netanyahu Policies

The poll found strong disagreement to Netanyahu's recent decisions among those who voted for Netanyahu's Likud party in the most recent election. Seventy percent of Likud voters said they opposed plans to freeze Jewish construction in Judea, Samaria and parts of Jerusalem, while 73 percent said the government should grant authorization to so-called “illegal outposts” instead of seeking to demolish them.

58%: Peace Now Really is a Virus

Pollsters also discovered that despite overwhelming media criticism of Minister Moshe Yaalon, who last week termed the Peace Now group “a virus,” the public tends to agree with Yaalon's remarks. Fifty-eight percent of those surveyed expressed agreement with Yaalon, and said that Peace Now has caused significant damage to the state of Israel.

Only 28 percent of those surveyed did not agree that Peace Now has harmed the state.
