Two Young Pigeons - Leviticus 12:8

These were the offerings of the poor, of those whose means did not suffice to buy a lamb. All these offerings pointed to the one great Sacrifice which was to be offered on Calvary.

The blood of Christ is within the reach of the poorest and feeblest. - None can say that it is beyond them, that they cannot afford to procure it, that they are too poor. To the poor the Gospel is preached. The Divine call is to those who have no money. Salvation is to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly. "It is nigh thee."

The faith that apprehends but a part of the Saviour's work saves. - The pigeon may stand for the meagre apprehension of Christ that is the portion of the faltering and timid; but it saves equally with that fuller conception of His saving work, which might be compared to the bullock of the priest. The question is not as to the quantity but the object of faith. Is it fixed on Jesus? All faith directed to Him cannot but be genuine. It may but touch His garment's hem, yet it saves.

The beneficence of God's law. - What tender touches there are through this strong ancient code! There is such a one here, framed partly in anticipation of the mother of our Lord, who gladly availed herself of its provision. What a glimpse into our Master's humiliation! He owned the cattle on a thousand hills, yet He so emptied Himself that His parents were compelled to bring the poorest offering the law allowed. He stooped that we might rise; emptied Himself that we might be full; became poor that we might be made rich; was made human that we might be made Divine.

Experts are warning us that this will be a "freezing, frigid, and frosty" winter, and even though the official beginning of winter is still over a month away, it already feels like that in much of the country right now.  Over the next several days, it will literally feel like it is mid-January in much of the central and eastern portions of the United States.

Many areas will be hit by temperatures that are 30 degrees below normal, and heavy snow is expected in some areas of the Midwest.

Unfortunately, this bitterly cold weather is coming at a very bad time for corn farmers.  According to the latest USDA crop progress report, only 52 percent of the corn in the middle of the country has been harvested.  So about half of the corn is still sitting out there, and these extraordinarily low temperatures could potentially be absolutely devastating.

In essence, this cold front threatens to put an exclamation point on an absolutely horrific year for U.S. farmers.  According to the National Weather Service, we could possibly see "170 potential daily record cold high temperatures" over the next three days...

"The National Weather Service is forecasting 170 potential daily record cold high temperatures Monday to Wednesday," tweeted Weather Channel meteorologist Jonathan Erdman. "A little taste of January in November."

The temperature nosedive will be a three-day process as a cold front charges across the central and eastern U.S. from Sunday into Tuesday.

We are being told that low temperatures in certain portions of Texas could plunge into the teens, and all across the Upper Midwest we could see low temperatures that are well below zero.

Of course this is not the first wave of record cold weather to come rolling through this season.  During the month of October, a couple of major blizzards roared through the Midwest and countless new cold temperature records were established.

And unfortunately we should expect a lot more bitter weather in the months ahead.  Both the Farmers' Almanac and the Old Farmer's Almanac are projecting that this upcoming winter will be unusually cold and snowy...

Not long after the Farmers' Almanac suggested it would be a "freezing, frigid, and frosty" season, the *other* Farmer's Almanac has released its annual weather forecast--and it's equally upsetting.

While the first publication focused on the cold temperatures anticipated this winter, the Old Farmer's Almanac predicts that excessive snowfall will be the most noteworthy part of the season.

The Old Farmer's Almanac, which was founded in 1792, says that the upcoming winter "will be remembered for strong storms" featuring heavy rain, sleet, and a lot of snow. The periodical actually used the word "snow-verload" to describe the conditions we can expect in the coming months.

So why is this happening?

It is actually quite simple.

During a solar minimum, solar activity drops to very low levels, and that tends to mean lower temperatures on Earth.

Earlier this year, a panel of experts gathered to discuss the current solar minimum, and they came to the conclusion that it "could last for years"...

If you like solar minimum, good news: It could last for years. That was one of the predictions issued last week by an international panel of experts who gathered at NOAA's annual Space Weather Workshop to forecast the next solar cycle.

If the panel is correct, already-low sunspot counts will reach a nadir sometime between July 2019 and Sept 2020, followed by a slow recovery toward a new Solar Maximum in 2023-2026.

"We expect Solar Cycle 25 will be very similar to Cycle 24: another fairly weak maximum, preceded by a long, deep minimum," says panel co-chair Lisa Upton, a solar physicist with Space Systems Research Corp.

But that would actually be a best case scenario.

There are others that believe that we have now entered a "grand solar minimum" such as the one that our planet experienced several hundred years ago.  That one was known as "the Maunder Minimum", and it resulted in a "little ice age"...

The extreme example happened between 1645 and 1715 when the normal 11-year sunspot cycle vanished. This period, called the Maunder Minimum, was accompanied by bitterly cold winters in the American colonies. Fishing settlements in Iceland and Greenland were abandoned. Icebergs were seen near the English channel. The canals of Venice froze. It was a time of great hardship.

Ultimately, the longer winters and shorter summers during the "Maunder Minimum" resulted in famine all over the globe, and multitudes ended up perishing...

The Maunder Minimum is the most famous cold period of the Little Ice Age. Temperatures plummeted in Europe, the growing season became shorter by more than a month, the number of snowy days increased from a few to 20-30, the ground froze to several feet, alpine glaciers advanced all over the world, glaciers in the Swiss Alps encroached on farms and buried villages, tree-lines in the Alps dropped, sea ports were blocked by sea ice that surrounded Iceland and Holland for about 20 miles, wine grape harvests diminished, and cereal grain harvests failed, leading to mass famines.

The Thames River and canals and rivers of the Netherlands froze over during the winter. The population of Iceland decreased by about half. In parts of China, warm-weather crops that had been grown for centuries were abandoned. In North America, early European settlers experienced exceptionally severe winters.

So far in 2019, there have been more than 200 days without a single sunspot on the sun.

We do not know when solar activity will return to normal, but for now we should all prepare for a bitterly cold winter.

Despite all of our advanced technology, we remain deeply dependent on the weather.  Even a year or two of bad harvests could potentially be absolutely catastrophic, and the mainstream media will not tell us the truth until it is way too late to do anything about it.

Jim Jordan Explains Why Trump Held Up the Money to Ukraine Without a Quid Pro Quo

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, speaks during a House Intelligence Committee hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington, Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, during the first public impeachment hearing of President Donald Trump's efforts to tie U.S. aid for Ukraine to investrigation

In the first public impeachment hearing on Wednesday, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) cleared up misconceptions about why president Donald Trump held up the military assistance funds that Congress had approved for Ukraine. Democrats insist that this delay was part of a corrupt quid pro quo — "bribery," "extortion," and whatever the next term may be — to force Ukraine to investigate Hunter Biden, the son of former vice president and 2020 Democrat Joe Biden, as a political attack on his potential rival.

The Democrat narrative seems disturbingly plausible, but Jordan gave a far better explanation for why Trump held up the money.

"There was a delay on sending hard-earned tax dollars of the American people to Ukraine," Jordan admitted. "We’re not talking any country, we’re talking Ukraine. Ernst & Young said one of the three most corrupt countries on the planet. … So our president said, 'Time out. Time out, let’s check out this new guy. Let’s see if Zelensky’s the real deal. This new guy who got elected in April, whose party took power in July. Let’s see if he’s legitimate.'"

Jordan continued, "Now, keep in mind, in 2018 President Trump had already done more for Ukraine than Obama did. That’s right, President Trump — who doesn’t like foreign aid, who wanted European countries to do more, who knew how corrupt Ukraine was — did more than Obama because he gave them Javelins, tank-busting Javelins to fight the Russians. Our witnesses have said this, others have said this: 'Obama gave them blankets, Trump gave them missiles.' But when it came time to check out this new guy, President Trump said, 'Let’s just see, let’s just see if he’s legit.'"

"So for 55 days, we checked him out. President Zelensky had five interactions with senior U.S. officials in that timeframe. One was, of course, the phone call, the July 25 phone call," the congressman explained. "And there were four other face-to-face meetings with other senior U.S. officials. And guess what, in not one of those interactions — not one — were security assistance dollars linked to investigating Burisma or Biden."

So what happened during those 55 days? "U.S. senators, Ambassador [John] Bolton, Vice President Pence, all became convinced that Zelensky was, in fact, worth the risk. He was, in fact, legit and the real deal and a real change. And guess what? They told the president, 'He’s a reformer, release the money.' And that’s exactly what President Trump did."

Jordan's telling of events squared with the testimony of former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor, who admitted that there was "no linkage" of funding to Biden investigations in any of the three meetings he had with Zelensky during the time in question.

Jordan's version of events also makes sense considering the fact that Trump released the funding without Zelensky opening an investigation into Hunter Biden, Burisma, or alleged anti-Trump Ukraine meddling in the 2016 election. Yet Democrats will continue to push the quid pro quo "extortion" narrative, because it's politically convenient.

"Now over the next few weeks, we’re going to have more witnesses like we've had today that the Democrats will parade in here and they’re all going to say this: 'So and so said such and such to so and so and therefore we’ve got to impeach the president,'" Jordan continued. He summarized testimony from Gordon Sondland to make his point: "Ambassador Taylor recalls that I told Mr. Taylor that Mr. Morrison, who conveyed this message to Mr. Yermak, in conjunction with Mr. Pence’s visit to Warsaw, for his meeting with President Zelensky."

Whatever the Democrats say, the congressman insisted on four key facts that they cannot deny: "The call shows no linkage between dollars and the investigation into Burisma or the Bidens; President Trump and President Zelensky have both said on the call there was no linkage, there was no pressure, there was no pushing; Ukrainians didn’t even know the aid was withheld at the time of the phone call; and most importantly as has been pointed out, Ukrainians didn’t take any specific action relative to investigations to get the money released."

Jordan concluded by lamenting that Democrats will not bring in the whistleblower responsible for the whole impeachment inquiry.

"We will never get the chance to see the whistleblower raise his right hand," he said. "This anonymous so-called whistleblower with no firsthand knowledge, who is biased against the president, who worked with Joe Biden, who is the reason we’re all sitting here today, we’ll never get a chance to question that individual."

This conclusion reminded Americans of what Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) had exposed earlier. Not only does the Democrats' quid pro quo version of events not match up with the story of Trump's Ukraine policy, but the entire impeachment push began with a hyperpartisan whistleblower who is represented by a lawyer who celebrated a "coup" against President Trump and predicted his impeachment — in the days after his inauguration.

There are many key reasons why not a single Republican joined Democrats in voting to formally open an impeachment inquiry, and why two Democrats joined Republicans in voting against it. Jim Jordan revealed it for what it was, and explained the real reason why Trump held up the money.

Israel Foils Worldwide Jihad After Killing Terrorist Mastermind

On Tuesday night, the IDF launched a surgical airstrike that killed Baha Abu Al-Ata, a senior commander for Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Al-Atta's wife was also killed in the blast.

"Abu al-Ata was promoting preparations to commit immediate terror attacks in various ways towards Israeli civilians and [Israel Defence Forces] troops during the recent few days," the IDF said in a statement. His killing, it added, was a "direct act to remove an imminent threat."

"Abu al-Atta was responsible for most of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad's activity in the Gaza Strip and was a ticking bomb," it said.

Less than one hour later, three missiles hit the Damascus home of an Islamic Jihad political leader, Akram Al-Ajouri. The terrorist group released a statement saying Ajouri survived the attack but his son was killed. Israel did not respond to claims that it was responsible for the attack. Israel has launched airstrikes into Syria but has a policy that it does not comment on military activities outside of Israel.

At least 150 rockets were fired towards Israel on Tuesday morning. Several Israelis were injured, including an eight-year-old girl who collapsed while running for shelter in Holon. She was evacuated to Wolfson hospital in serious condition.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) is the second most powerful entity in Gaza. An occasional partner of Hamas in terrorist attacks, both groups originated as offshoots from the Muslim Brotherhood. PIJ is supported by Iran and is closely allied with Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The state goal of the PIJ is the establishment of an Islamic political entity in place of Israel. The organization expressly rejects any, stating that its goals can only be achieved through military means. It is responsible for countless terrorist attacks inside Israel and rocket attacks targeting Israel from Gaza.

Many people outside of Israel may perceive the IDF's actions as part of Israel's political interests, but Dr. Mordechai Kedar, a senior lecturer in the Department of Arabic at Bar-Ilan University, understands the agenda of the Islamic Jihad in a global context.

"Israel is the front line against Islamic Jihad, fighting a war that is intended to arrive at America and Europe," Dr. Kedar told Breaking Israel News. "Jihad is the effort to spread Islam all over the world. This could be by military force or unrestrained terrorism. The ends entirely justify any means. This could also be through education or economic means but the goal and motivation remain the same."

Dr. Kedar compared Islamic Jihad to the terrorist organizations the U.S. is currently fighting in Syria.

"Islamic Jihad is one step down from ISIS (Islamic State)," Dr. Kedar said. "They do not accept any other possibility except Jihad. Hamas is less bad. Hamas has to run Gaza, cater to the people, so they have other considerations that force them to postpone the Jihad. Islamic Jihad does not have those restrictions. Hamas tries to control the Islamic Jihad in Gaza when it suits them but also lets them loose when it suits them."

"It would be foolish to think that the Islamic mandate for Jihad is only targeting Israel. It is a struggle against anything that is not Islam. Just as there is BDS that targets Israel, there is a large movement in the Islamic world to boycott anything made in the U.S."

Dr. Kedar referred to a manifesto written by the Muslim Brotherhood, Isalmic Jihad's mother organization. The Musli Brotherhood's strategic plan for the United States titled "An Explanatory Memorandum: On the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America" was written in 1991 by a member of the Board of Directors for the Muslim Brotherhood in North America and senior Hamas leader named Mohammed Akram.

It was approved by the Brotherhood's Shura Council and Organizational Conference and was meant for internal review by the Brothers' leadership in Egypt. The document identified 29 groups as Muslim Brotherhood fronts, many of which are still among the most prominent Muslim- American organizations in the United States.

The manifesto describes the first step in global Jihad as "Settlement", the process in which Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood become a part of a host country.

"The process of settlement is a 'Civilization-Jihadist Process' with all the word means," the Memorandum read. "The Ikhwan [Muslim Brotherhood] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and "sabotaging" its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions."

Dr. Kedar noted that this subtle, non-violent method of Jihad is nefarious and subtle but contains the same goal as violent Jihad.

"The Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) movement is a monetary Jihad," Dr. Kedar said. "Anti-Israel activity on campuses is also a jihad. Usually, they will not name it 'jihad' because they are afraid to expose the real nature of their actions."

Though these activities may appear secular to Westerners, Dr. Kedar emphasized that they contain powerfully religious motivations.

"There is always a combination of religion and politics or worldly issues but in Islam, there is no separation between religion and state like there is in the West," Dr. Kedar said. "They are two sides of the same coin. Any worldly issue is deeply connected to religion. This is in sharp contrast to Western culture. The battle with Israel is multi-layered but the basis for Arab nationalism is religion."

"For our enemies, they see Allah as their chief combatant, the warrior that goes out to battle with them in the Jihad."

Dr. Kedar served as an officer in IDF Military Intelligence for 25 years and is intimately familiar with decision-making in the upper echelons of the Israeli government.

"Most Israeli politicians are secular cannot cope with the religious aspect of our conflict with Arab Muslim nations. They tell me not to turn it into a religious struggle but I respond that it already is a religious struggle. Religion is deeply woven into everything in the Arab states. Here in Israel, especially in the IDF, we try to avoid bringing religion into our perception and actions while coping with a conflict that is essentially religious."
