The new man in Christ is a perpetual miracle
Oct 27th, 2013
Thought For The Week

The man of God, the true Spirit-filled man of God, is a perpetual miracle!

He has come to his knowledge of God by the wonder of the new birth and the illumination of the Spirit. Therefore his life is completely different from the world around him.

Consider with me the words of 1 John 2:27: "But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him."

John was a teacher and he says that your knowledge of God is not taught from without -- it is received by an inner anointing!

What are we going to do with this truth? Are we going to open the door of our personality -- fling it wide?

Let us not be afraid of the Holy Spirit -- He is an illuminator. He is light to the inner heart. He will show us more of God in a moment than we can learn in a lifetime without Him. He will not throw out what we have learned if it is the truth -- He will set it on fire, that's all! He will add fire to the altar.

The blessed Holy Spirit waits to be honored. He will honor Christ as we honor Christ. He waits -- and if we will throw open our hearts to Him, a new sun will rise on us! I know this by personal experience in my own life and ministry.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. (Romans 8:14)

Tensions Boil Over Between Bayit Yehudi, Hatnua Parties

Tensions are high between the Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) and Hatnua parties following public criticism on both sides over two controversial issues.

Bayit Yehudi is attempting to pass a bill that would make it difficult for the government to release terrorists from Israeli jails before their sentences are through – a move that Hatnua head Justice Minister Tzipi Livni strongly opposes. MKs in Hatnua added fuel to the fire by linking terrorist release to construction approvals for homes in Judea and Samaria (Shomron).

In the meantime, MK Elazar Stern of Hatnua ignited a separate debate when he accused Rabbi Dov Lior – the chief rabbi of Kiryat Arba and Hevron, and a leading figure in the religious-Zionist community – of racism against Ethiopian Jews.

But those present at the sermon during which Rabbi Lior supposedly made the comments have denied any racist comments were made.

On Saturday night, sources close to Livni caused further anger among Bayit Yehudi supporters with a statement claiming, “The spit in the face of IDF General Elazar Stern came from the mouth of [Bayit Yehudi head] Naftali Bennett and his gang" - a reference to an incident in which a teenager spat at Stern on Friday.

The statement went on to charge, “It is the Bayit Yehudi that prefers construction in settlements over any other national interest, or security interest.”

Minister Amir Peretz made similar accusations in an interview with Kol Yisrael (Voice of Israel) radio. He warned that “incitement” against Livni and her party among the Bayit Yehudi party could lead to disaster.

What begins with a spit in the face could end in murder, he declared.

MK Ayelet Shaked (Bayit Yehudi) dismissed Peretz’s warnings, which, she said, were based on lies. The youth who spit at MK Stern never claimed to have a political motive, she noted; rather, he was personally offended by Stern’s comments about Rabbi Dov Lior.

Shaked also denied claims from Hatnua that Bayit Yehudi chose construction approvals at the price of terrorist release. No offer was ever made to freeze construction in Judea and Samaria instead of freeing convicted terrorists, she said.

A similar argument came from none other than the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO). Senior PLO officials Yasser Abed Rabbo and Hanan Ashrawi both told AFP that there is no link between the release of Arab terrorist prisoners and Israel’s approval for construction in Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria.

“Establishing a link between settlements and the freeing of prisoners goes against all the undertakings made,” Rabbo said.

Ashrawi added, “Such reports are fabricated and malicious. The Palestinian side never agreed to such an exchange… The only linkage with the release of prisoners that [PA Chairman Abbas] approved is in delaying the pursuit of UN membership in international agencies and organizations.”

Moreover, sources close to Bayit Yehudi party told Arutz Sheva last week that if there was such a deal, Bayit Yehudi vigorously opposed it:

“The [Jewish] public in Judea and Samaria has very clear principles, and cannot be enticed with bitter candy,” said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity. “My suggestion to Netanyahu is that he give up these dangerous deals.”

“Many freed terrorists return to terrorism. An apartment in Judea and Samaria is not worth a terrorist attack,” he added.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Sunday that the debate over whether Iran should be allowed to produce 20-percent enriched uranium is no longer relevant because the Iranians have advanced to a capacity to jump directly from 3.5 pc to 90 pc – i.e. weapons grade – enrichment. He spoke at the weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem. He again called for harsher sanctions against Tehran. Regarding the ongoing negotiations with the Palestinians, Netanyahu said Israel desires a settlement, but will hold out for the satisfaction of its vital interests, especially security.

Germany to Israel: Attend UN Human Rights Council - or Else

Germany's foreign minister Guido Westerwelle has warned Israel to face a periodic United Nations Human Rights Council (U.N.H.R.C.) Periodic Review -- or face severe diplomatic consequences, according to a Haaretz report (Sunday).

Israel severed ties with the Geneva-based UN Human Rights Council in March 2012, after it announced it would investigate how the Israeli presence in Judea and Samaria would affect the rights of local Arabs.

This year, on January 29, Israel became the first country to boycott the UNHRC review, which is mandatory for every United Nations member country, after facing increasing criticism for building more Jewish homes in Judea and Samaria. The move, a protest measure against the UN directive stating that Israel's actions are to be reviewed at every UNHRC council meeting, created a media and political hullabaloo with rumors of a full Israeli pullout from the United Nations.

In a personal letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Westerwelle warned that Israel's failure to attend the periodic evaluation -- a review infamous for its anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian measures -- would alienate Israel's allies and cause "severe diplomatic damage", Haaretz reports.

The report adds a statement from an unknown source confirming that Westerwelle delivered the letter to Emmanuel Nahshon, the deputy chief of Israel's German Embassy in Berlin, with instructions for it to be delivered to the Prime Minister as soon as possible.

Neither Netanyahu nor German Chancellor Angela Merkel have released statements regarding the directive. However, an unnamed Israeli official, working under the condition of anonymity, has stated that a decision about whether to attend Tuesday's UNHRC meeting will be made later Sunday.
