Yes, I Do Believe in Conspiracies
Dec 3rd, 2009
Commentary
Joseph Farah - WND
Categories: Commentary;World Government;Warning

I am sometimes accused of believing in and promoting "conspiracy theories."To this charge, I must plead guilty.

For a long time, I have warned of a massive conspiracy to persuade the American public, in fact the population of the entire world, that life as we know it is threatened by a phantom crisis. This conspiracy is so massive and bold it seeks literally to usher in a new age of global governance, even though there is no evidence to support the claims behind the imminent threat to the planet.

Nevertheless, most of the news media, most government institutions, most politicians of both parties, nearly all schools and universities – even most corporations – promote this conspiracy.

And, later this month, a United Nations global convention in Copenhagen aims to build upon the work of this conspiracy in the hopes of promoting unaccountable global governance – turning people in formerly free countries like the United States into little more than serfs far removed from their masters.

I speak, of course, of the widespread conspiracy and increasingly obvious fraud known as man-made, catastrophic climate change.

For years, we have been told that "scientists" have a reached a broad consensus that man's activity on the planet, particularly through the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, is causing "global warming."

It has never been true that such consensus exists – despite broad efforts at seduction, intimidation and coercion of scientists through the use of government grants, foundation support, academic appointments, peer pressure and, ultimately, blacklisting of those who don't go along with the charade.

But recently, strong evidence of that intimidation and blacklisting of scientists has surfaced.

It came in the form of e-mails from prominent scientists from the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia clearly trying to "shout down" those with opposing views. The e-mails show a willingness to manipulate data to make it fit the theory. What's worse, a preliminary investigation of the e-mails shows those responsible have destroyed much of the original data so it can no longer be independently verified in light of the scandal.

Yes, I do believe in conspiracies.

And global-warming hysteria is a textbook example of how they work in the real world.

In order not to believe in conspiracies you would have to be naïve. You would have to believe there aren't bad people in the world working in their own self-interest. You would have to believe that politicians and university professors and scientists are all incorruptible and above reproach.

Do you believe that?

Do you believe government always works in the best interest of people?

Or, do you believe that power can corrupt and absolute power can corrupt absolutely?

In my lifelong work as a journalist, I have found that when bad things happen, there is usually more than one person responsible.

Oftentimes, these people have actually "conspired" together – which literally means breathed together or planned the results.

Despite the "global-warming" propaganda barrage most Americans have endured for the last 20 years, I think the majority now see through the carbon smokescreen.

Nevertheless, the fix is still in.

Plans are being made to change your lifestyle to fit within the agenda of those promoting this pseudo-apocalyptic nightmare scenario.

These plans are on a fast track.

You will hear more about them next week from Copenhagen.

Still, for some reason, none dare call it conspiracy.

Yet, that's what it is.

It's happening right before your eyes.

So don't be so quick to accept those "conspiracist" labels when they are cast about.

Sometimes, even the "paranoid" who claims "they're after me" is right.

The "climate change" crowd really is after you. They're after your money

, your freedom and your life.

U.S. Set to Fund More Stem Cell Study
Dec 3rd, 2009
Daily News
Washington Post - Rob Stein
Categories: Today's Headlines;Contemporary Issues;Moral Decline

The Obama administration has begun approving new lines of human embryonic stem cells that are eligible for federally funded experiments, opening the way for millions of taxpayer dollars to be used to conduct research that was put off-limits by President George W. Bush.

Launching a dramatic expansion of government support for one of the most promising but most contentious fields of biomedical research, the National Institutes of Health on Wednesday authorized the first 13 lines of cells under the administration's policy and was poised to approve 20 more Friday.

"This is the first down payment on what is going to be a much longer list that will empower the scientific community to explore the potential of embryonic stem cell research," said NIH Director Francis S. Collins. "Today's announcement is the first wave."

An additional 76 stem cell lines are awaiting vetting, and researchers have indicated that they plan to submit at least 254 more for approval.

The NIH has already authorized 31 grants worth about $21 million for research on human embryonic stem cells, money that was contingent on new lines passing government muster. The grants are for a variety of research, including work aimed at developing cells that could be used to treat diseases of the heart and nervous system.

Many other grant requests have been submitted by researchers hoping to use some of the $10 billion the NIH received as part of the economic stimulus, Collins said.

"We've been waiting with bated breath to get started," said George Daley, a stem cell researcher at Children's Hospital in Boston who created 11 of the lines approved Wednesday. "We could do today what we couldn't do yesterday."

Bush severely restricted federal funding for human embryonic stem cell research because of moral objections to the destruction of human embryos to obtain the cells. Federally funded scientists were limited to studying 21 existing cell lines that many criticized as flawed and inadequate; had to erect cumbersome bureaucratic procedures to separate government-funded research from privately funded work; and were sometimes prevented from sharing ideas.

Now, although embryonic stem cell lines will still have to be created using private funding, federal funding will be permitted for experiments using a much larger array of lines, once those lines have been scrutinized to make sure they were created from embryos obtained ethically. That will vastly expand the number of scientists and types of experiments using taxpayer dollars.

"This is what we've been waiting for," said Amy Comstock Rick of the Coalition for the Advancement of Medical Research, which has been leading the lobbying effort to loosen the federal restrictions. "We've very excited."

Opponents see 'tragedy'

But the announcement was condemned by opponents of the research, who argued that the work is not only unethical but unnecessary, because of the availability of adult stem cells and other more recently identified alternatives.

"Ethically, we don't think any taxpayer should have to fund research that relies on destroying early human life at any stage," said Richard M. Doerflinger of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. "But the tragedy of this is multiplied by the fact that no one can think what the problem is that can only be solved by these cells."

Collins, a geneticist and evangelical Christian whose appointment raised concern among some scientists, defended the work.

"I think that there is an argument to be made that what is being done is ethically acceptable," Collins said, "even if you believe in the inherent sanctity of the human embryo."

Many scientists believe embryonic stem cells will yield fundamental insights into the underlying causes of a host of diseases and could be used to cure diabetes, Parkinson's disease, paralysis and other ailments. But extracting the cells destroys days-old embryos. In an effort to prevent tax dollars from encouraging the destruction of more embryos, Bush on Aug. 9, 2001, restricted federal funding to studies involving lines that were already in existence.

Critics have long complained that those cells had shortcomings, such as defects that could make them dangerous to transplant into people.

In the meantime, hundreds of newer lines have been developed that offer a host of opportunities. Many, for example, carry defects for specific diseases and could yield crucial clues into how those illnesses develop and might be cured.

U.S. researchers who wanted to study them have had to use private funds and go through complicated bureaucratic hoops, sometimes essentially creating parallel laboratories with carefully segregated staff and equipment to keep federal funds from being used for the experiments.

Guidelines ordered

President Obama fulfilled a campaign promise in March by signing an executive order lifting the Bush restrictions and ordering the NIH to develop guidelines to decide which lines could be ethically used.

In a political compromise, the guidelines finalized in July limited funding to lines created from excess fertility clinic embryos, as long as they were deemed to have been obtained ethically. The lines have to meet a strict set of criteria, such as making sure couples were not offered any financial incentives, knew the embryos would be destroyed for research and were offered the option of donating them to other couples.

Some proponents of the research criticized the guidelines for not going further and allowing, for example, federal funds to be used to create embryos specifically for research purposes or by cloning techniques. Federal funds are also still barred by Congress from being used to create the cell lines.

The final NIH guidelines created an elaborate process for vetting cell lines. Those that meet the criteria set forth by the guidelines could be approved by the agency's staff, while those that are more questionable because they were obtained under less stringent requirements will be vetted individually by a special advisory committee to the NIH director.

It was unclear whether any of the 21 lines originally approved by Bush would qualify; so far only one has been submitted for review. The lines approved Wednesday -- 11 at Children's Hospital and 2 at Rockefeller University in New York -- met the basic requirements.

PM Meets With Settler Leaders, Asks for Cooperation, Leadership

Some 22 heads of councils from Judea and Samaria and a handful of heads of the Yesha Council met with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and discussed the recently-announced 10-month settlement freeze on Thursday.

The prime minister was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Zvi Hauser, PM Bureau Chief Natan Eshel, IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi and Netanyahu's spokesman Nir Hefetz.

According to the Prime Minister's Office the atmosphere at the meeting was respectful, in contrast to some reports from the settlers' camp.

Stressing the necessity for cooperation and leadership, Netanyahu said, "I want you as leaders to hold the steering wheel with us, but there is one thing that is not legitimate: you can protest, demonstrate and express your opinion, but it can't be that you don't abide by a decision that was lawfully taken. The real solution is through dialogue and finding solutions during this limited time period."

Netanyahu said that the decision to freeze settlement construction was "taken in the cabinet was the best one for Israel during this complicated diplomatic situation." Remarking on the obvious dissatisfaction of the leaders with the prime minister's decision, he said, "order is not easy for you or for me, and we will work so that its implementation will be as easy as possible on the public"

He explained that it was necessary to freeze construction, "We took this difficult decision in order to move Israel's widest interests forward. This step makes clear to the central actors in the world that Israel is serious in its intentions to achieve peace, while the Palestinians are the ones refusing to start peace negotiations. There is a side that wants, and one that doesn't, and that side made clear who are the peace resisters."

In his closing statement he told the community leaders, "This is a very important meeting, I wrote down 30 points about implementation of the order you raised, and I will talk about it with [Defense Minister Ehud] Barak." He also asked that they speak with Barak themselves and pledged to respond to the points raised in the meeting within the next few days.

Netanyahu reportedly implied that certain measures might be taken in the near future to alleviate the situation in the field. The settler leaders pledged to continue and resist the moratorium.

The settler representatives, however, did not find much consolation in the meeting on the building freeze, which besides great concern, is causing financial predicaments to people invested in West Bank construction.

The settler leaders reportedly told Netanyahu that they had not come to negotiate with him, but rather to express their objection to the freeze. It is our feeling Barak is garnering a political victory in the move, and you are disconnected from the field, they told the premier.

Settler leader Dani Dayan called the three-hour meeting in Tel Aviv "difficult" and "emotionally charged." Speaking on Israel Radio, he said the settlers would continue their struggle against the freeze, both through civil disobedience and legal challenges. The settlers have scheduled a mass demonstration next week in Jerusalem.

There was no immediate comment from Netanyahu's office.

Following the meeting, Efrat Mayor Oded Revivi said that "Our impression was that Netanyahu is aware of the problems with the orders' content, their ambiguous style, the way they were implemented and their complete revocation of the councils' authorities.

"I look forward to seeing Netanyahu fix these mistakes in the coming days," Channel 10 quoted Revivi as saying.

However, before the meeting began Pinhas Wallerstein, the director-general of the Council of Jewish Communities of Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip, told Army Radio that possible financial benefits would not stop settlers from "using their bodies" to prevent the implementation of the construction freeze.

"If they give me ten more shekels or allow me to enclose a porch it will not matter," Wallerstein said on Thursday. "The settler leaders have no intention to stop their struggle despite the benefits' package being prepared by the Prime Minister's Office. We will use our bodies to prevent this, in an unequivocal way, and we are willing to pay with great pain."

Likud Central Committee chairman, Communications Minister Moshe Kahlon, expressed opposition to the security cabinet's decision, saying another way should have been found to "iron out the difficulties" with the Palestinians.

"We didn't expect a thank you, but we did expect some kind of gratitude. It took [Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas] 24 hours to respond," Kahlon said in a Thursday interview with Army Radio. "Europe is unilaterally declaring east Jerusalem [as the Palestinian capital] and the US did not send us flowers following this move. We should have found a different way to iron out the difficulties."

Earlier Thursday, the subcommittee of the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee dedicated to matters pertaining to Judea and Samaria urged Barak to freeze the moratorium until a mechanism to compensate those liable to be financially hurt by the move is agreed upon.

Besides the parliamentarians, attending the panel were also senior civil administration officials and settler leaders.

Meanwhile in the West Bank, dozens of Kedumim residents gathered at the entrance to the settlement on Thursday morning to prevent civil administration building inspectors from issuing stop-work orders.

The inspectors arrived at the settlement but decided to turn back when they saw the crowd, Army Radio reported.

Netanyahu: We Won't Freeze Settlements Again

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday tried to drum up international pressure on the Palestinians to return to the negotiating table by warning that Israel's current settlement freeze is only temporary and won't be repeated.

Government inspectors began handing out stop-work orders at construction sites in Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria on Monday in line with Netanyahu's decision last week to comply with international demands that Israel stop building homes for Jews in areas claimed by the Palestinians.

But while addressing an economics conference near Ben Gurion Airport, Netanyahu insisted that the 10-month time limit on the freeze is firm, and that he will never make such a gesture again if the Palestinians do not respond in a positive manner.

"This is a one-time and temporary decision," Netanyahu said. "Just as was written in the security cabinet decision, and just as I have made clear in both public and private meetings, we will go back to building at the end of the suspension."

But as most observers of the Middle East conflict know, once Israel makes a concession, international pressure makes it very hard to go back on it. Israel's current settlement freeze is likely to become a new red line for the Palestinians, and most Palestinian red lines have been happily accepted by the world.

Jews Attacked As They Move Into Jerusalem Home

A Jewish family was violently attacked by Arab and foreign protestors as they moved into their new home on the eastern side of Jerusalem, which is claimed by the Palestinians as their future capital.

The assailants, which included many left-wing Americans, used stones and clubs to attack the family and the security guards present at the site. One security guard was wounded before police could bring the rioters under control.

While the Arabs claim the property is theirs, in reality is belonged to the Sephardic Community Committee and housed Jewish family up until 60 years ago, when the Jews were driven out by invading Jordanian forces. Israel's Supreme Court recently ruled that the original owners may legally reclaim possession of the property.

EU: Let's Ensure Division of Jerusalem
Dec 3rd, 2009
Daily News
Jerusalem Newswire - Stan Goodenough
Categories: Today's Headlines;The Nation Of Israel;Anti-Israel

European leaders plan to publicly demand next week that Israel's capital be cut in two, to be divided between the Jewish state and the non-existent state of "Palestine."

The EU will issue its call newly empowered by the Lisbon Treaty, which came into affect Tuesday, and which Europeans regard as placing them on a par with the United States.

While the Palestinian Arabs have never had a state, Jerusalem became the capital of the Jewish people in approximately 1000 BC. In the three millennia since, no other nation has designated the city as their capital.

Nonetheless the EU, along with the rest of the international community, is keeping relentless pressure on the Israeli government to give the Arabs sovereignty over half the city.

And over half their historic land.

According to reports running in the Israeli press Tuesday and Wednesday, a Swedish-drafted statement will be read out on December 7 after approval by the EU Commission. It will be the "first official EU articulation of a solution" for the issue of Jerusalem in the Middle East peace process.

Ha'aretz reported that the draft "refers directly to the situation in East Jerusalem, calling on 'all parties to refrain from provocative actions' and stating the EU Council 'has never recognized the annexation of East Jerusalem. If there is to be a genuine peace, a way must be found to resolve the status of Jerusalem as capital of two states. The Council calls for the reopening of Palestinian institutions in Jerusalem in accordance with the road map. It also calls on the Israeli government to cease all discriminatory treatment of Palestinians in East Jerusalem.'"

The statement furthermore applauds Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad's proposal of a unilateral declaration of statehood, and commits the EU to "at the appropriate time, recognize a Palestinian state."

Israeli officials have slammed the EU for ITS provocative meddling.

But Europe is resolved to interfere in a way it believes will intimidate Israel into wilting under the pressure.

Measures recommended include:

Ensuring an EU presence at Israeli court cases on house demolitions or evictions of Palestinian families and where there is a risk of demolition or eviction of Arab families.

Holding EU celebrations, commemorations and national or Europe day events in "East" Jerusalem.

Regularly hosting Palestinian officials for dinners with senior EU visitors at European missions with offices or residences in "East" Jerusalem.

Avoiding having Israeli security personnel accompany high-ranking EU officials visiting the Old City or "East" Jerusalem.

Refusing to meet Israeli officials in their "East" Jerusalem offices.

Sharing information on "violent" settlers in East Jerusalem to assess whether to grant entry to the EU.

The European Jewish Congress (EJC) on Tuesday reacted with "alarm and extreme concern" to reports of the EU's intentions.

It said that by taking this step, Europe would be creating an "impediment to peace."

According to a report on EUobserver.com, "a number of EU officials voiced surprise that the provisional statement evoked such a hostile reaction.

"Jerusalem should be the shared capital of two states. I think this is a position which has been stated often enough," Lutz Gellner, the spokesman of the EU's new foreign relations chief, Catherine Ashton, said.

Comedy Central Scoops Network News on Climate - Gate Scandal

Fox News - Diane Macedo
Categories: Today's Headlines;Warning

ABC didn't cover it. CBS didn't either. And NBC apparently wouldn't go near it.

The network news broadcasts have ignored a growing scandal over evidence of a potential climate cover-up — and now they've even been scooped by the fake news at Comedy Central.

"The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" produced its "reporting" on Climate-gate Tuesday night, when Stewart quipped, “Poor Al Gore. Global warming completely debunked via the very Internet you invented. Oh, oh, the irony!”

Stewart described leaked e-mails from Britain's University of East Anglia, including one referring to a researcher's "trick" to "hide the decline" in some temperature readings in recent decades.

"It's just scientist-speak for using a standard statistical technique — recalibrating data -– in order to trick you," Stewart said sarcastically.

Nearly two weeks since news broke of the e-mail scandal, climate change skeptics have gloated; a leading climate scientist has resigned; at least one U.S. lawmaker has called for an investigation, and countless prominent news outlets have deemed the story worthy of major reporting.

Still, according to a report Wednesday morning by the conservative Media Research Center, "none of the broadcast network weekday morning and evening news shows addressed Climate-Gate or the incriminating Jones development. ... This marked 12 days since the information was first uncovered that they have ignored this global scandal."

The Business & Media Institute had just as much trouble finding the networks' Climate-gate coverage.

"An examination of morning and evening news programs on ABC, CBS and NBC since Nov. 20 yielded zero mentions of the scandal, even in the Nov. 25 reports about Obama going to Copenhagen to discuss the need for emissions reductions," the Institute reported Wednesday.

But during that time, the Institute says, "the networks reported on pro-golfer Tiger Woods' 'minor' car accident at least 37 times. They also found time to report on an orphaned Moose and the meal selection at the president’s State Dinner."

Media Research Center President Brent Bozell reacted to the findings saying, "To pretend this story simply doesn’t exist is damning to journalism."

That left Stewart to fill the void — with his analysis of the scientists' decision to discard the raw data used to formulate the adjusted data that much of the scientific community agrees confirms global warming.

"Why would you throw out raw data from the '80s? I still have Penthouses from the '70s!" he joked.

Art's Commentary......Is there a conspiracy by the wealthy, globalist, network owners? Global warming seems to be a vehicle to bring about world government. Is it possible that a handfull of weathy media owners could influence the thinking of the masses?

Analysis: New Manifesto Reveals a More Sophisticated, Confident Hizbullah
Dec 3rd, 2009
Daily News
jonathan spyer , THE JERUSALEM POST
Categories: Today's Headlines;Warning

Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah this week announced the publication of a new political manifesto, outlining the goals of his movement. The document is the successor to Hizbullah's first manifesto, published in 1985, and many regional analysts have hailed it as reflecting the group's "Lebanonization."

This term is intended to mean that the new manifesto represents the abandonment of the movement's core Shi'a Islamist outlook, and its acceptance of a new role as an influential player in Lebanese domestic politics. However, this view is excessively optimistic. The new manifesto reveals that Hizbullah's strategic goals are unchanged.

Observe: The November 2009 manifesto does not differ substantively from its predecessor in terms of its view of the region and the clashing elements within it. Its first part, entitled "Domination and Hegemony" in the English version, consists of a long denunciation of the United States and its role in the Middle East and the world post-1945.

The US is depicted as the "root of all terror," and a "danger that threatens the whole world." Washington is seen as in the process of implementing a "New Middle East project" intended to dominate "the nations politically, culturally, economically and through all aspects." The creation of the "Zionist entity" is described as the most "dangerous step" in the American drive for hegemony. The English-language document reiterates Hizbullah's support for "armed struggle and military resistance" as the best way of "ending the occupation." The longer Arabic version is less ambiguous, committing Hizbullah to "liberation of all the usurped land" and restoring the "usurped rights of all no matter how long and how great the sacrifices."

So no change in the core strategic view. But proponents of the idea that the document reflects a more pragmatic Hizbullah have pointed to the lack of "religious rhetoric" in the new manifesto, compared to the 1985 document.

It is correct that the new manifesto does not include the previous document's call for the establishment of an "Islamic Republic" in Lebanon. But here an interesting discrepancy emerges. The longer, Arabic version of the manifesto is steeped in religious rhetoric and Islamist terminology. Nasrallah opens his statement with two quotations from the Koran. The manifesto's first section refers to "resistance in the way of jihad," and the "jihadi way." The section dealing with "Palestinian resistance" depicts Hizbullah as practicing "jihadi resistance." The section dealing with Iran notes the "blessed Islamic revolution led by the Vali al-Faqih Imam Khomeini." (The latter phrase refers to the system of government operative in Iran, Vilayat al-Faqih - rule of the jurisprudent, i.e., clerical rule.) The section on "resistance" deals with the movement's "mujihadeen and its martyrs."

The Arabic version of the manifesto also contains a whole section entitled "Jerusalem and the Aksa Mosque," which asserts that "to liberate Jerusalem and defend Aksa Mosque" is a "religious duty" incumbent on Muslims.

But in the English-language version of the manifesto, the section on Jerusalem, and all the phrases mentioned above, do not appear. The English version, indeed, is innocent of all reference to jihad or Koranic quotation. On Al-Manar, it is not made clear that the English version contains only selected excerpts from the manifesto. On the regime-supported Syrian News Station Web site, meanwhile, the English version is presented as the "full text of Hizbullah's new political document."

The discrepancies suggest that Hizbullah considers it in its interest to tone down or remove the pro-Iranian and jihadi parts of its identity when presenting itself to the outside world. But the full document in its original form suggests that the movement has not strayed far from its original path.

The new manifesto contains a call for the ending of the sectarian system of political representation in Lebanon. This is the final aspect cited by those asserting that Hizbullah is undergoing a process of moderation. But this does not represent a concession on Hizbullah's part. The movement believes, possibly correctly, that the Shi'a community has a long-term demographic advantage in Lebanon. Ending Lebanon's consociational system is therefore intended, in the fullness of time, to deliver the country into its hands.

In the meantime, Hizbullah established de facto in the violence of May 2008 that there was no force within Lebanon that could prevent it from asserting its will. It has forced its opponents to accept its conditions in negotiations for the formation of a new government. The new cabinet is set to contain an opposition-blocking third and will also overtly endorse the continued independent role of Hizbullah's armed forces.

The new manifesto suggests that Hizbullah circa 2009 is a far more confident and comfortable player in Lebanon than it was in its earlier years. The reason for this, however, is not because the Shi'a Islamist movement has adapted itself to prevailing Lebanese realities. It is because Hizbullah has successfully imposed itself upon these realities, and hence may now proceed at its own pace.

On this basis, Hizbullah has secured the perimeter of the Iranian-financed state-within-a state that it maintains in Lebanon.

The new manifesto represents the movement's willingness to coexist on its own preferred terms with other elements within the country. This coexistence is intended to usher in a "natural" process that Hizbullah believes will, in the fullness of time, result in its domination of Lebanon.

'iran Building Terror Network in South America'

Categories: Today's Headlines;Warning

The Argentinean prosecutor who ferreted out Iranian links to Argentina's largest terror attack warned Wednesday of Teheran's growing terror network in Latin America.

"The Iranians are moving fast," assessed Alberto Nisman, who has secured Interpol backing for the arrest of several Iranians, including former president Hashemi Rafsanjani, for ordering the July 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish community offices in Buenos Aires. "We see a much greater penetration than we did in 1994."

He said that Iran, particularly through Lebanese proxy Hizbullah, has a growing presence in Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador and Nicaragua, using techniques it honed in Argentina before the country took measures to counter Teheran following the AMIA bombing.

He described sham operations involving taxi drivers, who conducted surveillance without arousing suspicion; fake medical school students, who could stay in the country for many years without raising eyebrows; and business fronts that helped funnel cash to operatives.

Meanwhile, the Iranians cultivated ties at the local mosques to search for people who could be radicalized.

Now, he said, Argentina is considered a "hostile environment" for Iran, but the Iranian terrorist groups are finding fertile ground in other countries.

"The stronger element that happens today is the complicity of the government," said Nisman, pointing to the networks Iran develops through its embassies. "We know that Chavez allows Hizbullah to come in."

Nisman, who spoke through a Spanish interpreter at a Foundation for Defense of Democracies event Wednesday, said he regularly shared the information he has gathered on Iranian and Hizbullah activities with other countries in an effort to get them to act.

He described responses of "surprise" at how clear the evidence against Iran is in the AMIA case as well as "interest" in the case and the issue of the terror ties.

But, he stressed, "Much more can be done and hopefully will be done before it's too late."

Referring to countries who have not done all they could, particularly in bringing the Iranian perpetrators of the AMIA attack to justice, he continued, "There are too many countries in Europe that continue to turn a blind eye … like [they did] with the Nazis."

Nisman called on these countries to refuse to welcome Iranian leaders to international forums like the United Nations until they adhere to the Interpol-backed warrants and hand over the men wanted by Argentina.

"Iran will not long be able to resist," he contended. "It can't fight against the entire world."

Still, Nisman said he is contemplating additional avenues for bringing the suspects to trial, and the Argentinean courts have already taken some civil actions, with $1.5 million in assets turned over to victims and $633 million attached pending resolution of the case.

He has already succeeded in indicting a former Argentinean president and judge involved in the AMIA case for hindering the investigation and being involved in corruption.

He credited US and Israeli intelligence officers in helping him find the right trails to follow over the course of his three-year investigation, begun a decade after the attack and substantially concluded in 2007.

Both are due to stand trial soon, according to Nisman.

Nisman maintained that he has not given up hope that he will send these top Iranian figures to jail, pointing to the unexpected internal fissures resulting from June's flawed presidential elections as a sign of the potential for change.

"The Iranian revolution has been going for 30 years. It's going to end someday," he said.
