Ye Shall not Go Out - Leviticus 8:33

For seven days Aaron and his sons, newly consecrated by the blood and oil, waited together in the Holy Place. They were prohibited from going beyond the door, but fed on the consecrated food till the eighth day summoned them to begin their priestly duties. Similarly we are shut in with our Great Aaron, the High Priest of our profession. We are in Christ in the purposes of God, for we were chosen in Him before the foundation of the world. We are in Him, as Noah was in the ark, and as the child is in the home; as the member is in the body, and the branch in the vine; as the sponge in the ocean, or the jewel in the sunbeam. We are in Him as a strong enclosure, through which the malice and strength of our foes cannot break - a fortress, a strong tower, a castle keep. We are in Him, as a banqueting-hall, a Tabernacle with its shewbread, an upper room with its descending fire.

It is highly necessary that we should maintain our walk and experience on this blessed elevation. The great enemy of our souls is perpetually tempting us to leave our abiding-place, and to try issues with him in the plains beneath. What is temptation but his subtle solicitation to come out from the secret place of the Most High. Beware! the bait may be very attractive, but the end is death. Keep the charge of the Lord, and abide day and night in the company of the Great High Priest. "He shall dwell among them."

On what viands do such happy souls feast with Christ! A table is provided before them by the Lord Himself, and they feast on all that pertains to Him in blessed partnership. "Son, thou art ever with Me, and all that I have is thine."

Pope Francis Declares That Christian Fundamentalists Are “A Scourge”
Beware of the fundamentalist groups: everyone has his own. In Argentina too there is a little fundamentalist corner. And let us try, with fraternity, to go forward. Fundamentalism is a scourge and all religions have some kind of fundamentalist first cousin there, which forms a group. Ostensibly, these remarks apply to fundamentalists from all religions. But by mentioning Argentina, the Pope made it exceedingly clear who his real target was. There aren’t any “Muslim fundamentalists” or “Hindu fundamentalists” in Argentina. The fundamentalists that he was referring to are the Christian fundamentalists in Argentina, and in the very next sentence he denounced such people as “a scourge”.

Islamophobia Laws will be U.S.ed to Shield Islamic Beliefs from Criticism

Islamophobia -- a concept that will grip us in the coming years, slowing stripping away our freedoms, if we don't stand up and oppose some of the legislation proposed because of it.

Even though it's a term that is not defined, has no meaning and a concept actually invented by The Muslim Brotherhood and peddled by their associates after 9/11, we would be wise to wake up.

In Canada

We already have Motion M103, which is not legislation at the present, but if the push continues, it may become law. This motion has directly affected free speech, as most Canadians are now terrified of even asking simple and valid questions about Islamist radicalization and terrorism.

In June, the Canadian federal government released a new three-year anti-racism strategy that arose from M103. This strategy includes a definition of Islamophobia taken from the Ontario Human Rights Commission, which reads,

"Islamophobia includes racism, stereotypes, prejudice, fear or acts of hostility directed towards individual Muslims or followers of Islam in general. In addition to individual acts of intolerance and racial profiling, Islamophobia can lead to viewing and treating Muslims as a greater security threat on an institutional, systemic and societal level."

In the UK

In the UK, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on British Muslims recently proposed a new definition of Islamophobia as follows: "Islamophobia is rooted in racism and is a type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness."

This definition - which hinges on the vague notion of "Muslimness" or "perceived Muslimness" - has been adopted by the Labour Party, the Liberal Democrats Federal board, Plaid Cymru (the social-democrat party of Whales that advocates independence from the UK), the mayor of London  as well as several local councils, without due consideration of its impact on freedom of expression.

Once again there is concern that allegations of Islamophobia will be used to shield Islamic beliefs from criticism, and that formalizing this definition will result in it being employed, effectively, as something of a backdoor "blasphemy law." Indeed, we already see it being used as such, gaining stripping away our freedoms.

This vague definition will most likely be used to shut down legitimate debate. Already, the temptation to use it against unfashionable or irritating expressions of opinion is a cause for serious concern.

This past Sunday the UK Policy Exchange held an event on the subject of Islamophobia at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester. One of the speakers on this panel was Dr. Qanta Ahmed, an observant Muslim who has received much acclaim for her work against Islamists and Islamism.

Ahmed explained the problems with the term Islamophobia and made a crucial distinction between Islamophobia and anti-Muslim xenophobia.

Ahmed issued an important warning, implicitly directed at the Conservative Party and the Government:

"If you fail to define Islamophobia accurately, and if you fail to separate it from anti-Muslim xenophobia, you will fall prey to the rulebook, the playbook, of the Islamists, and you will have given over the command of the language for these critical debates to the Islamists - and I advise you not to do that."

UK Tory MP Nusrat Ghani, a Muslim, acknowledged the reality of anti-Muslim hatred but warned that extremists had their own agenda. As she put it:

"I hope that today when we have this discussion, we can focus on the two things that are absolutely important. One is focusing on the victims of anti-Muslim hate or abuse, and the second is ensuring that we continue to have the freedom of speech to criticize Islam, as you would criticize any religion, and also criticize extremists within Islam, because if they had their way, I wouldn't be here sitting at the top table speaking to you."

Beyond the West

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) flaunts its "Islamophobia Observatory" and has been pushing for international legislation against "Islamophobia" for a long time.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, a member of the OIC who was in New York to participate in the 74th session of the United Nation General Assembly this month, announced that Pakistan, Turkey and Malaysia have decided to launch a joint English-language Islamic television channel to correct misperceptions and confront the challenges posed by Islamophobia.

In Sum

There are already laws in North America and the UK that protect individuals against attacks and unlawful discrimination on the basis of their religion.

Are Muslims the only ones who face racism and bigotry? According to statistics, hate crimes are the highest against (in order) Jews, LGBTQ communities, Blacks and then Muslims, so if there are to be laws against hatred, they need to encompass everyone, not focus on just one community.

The collateral damage of all this focus on "Islamophobia" is that free speech will ultimately be killed, and that is unacceptable as it is the foundation of liberal Western democracies.

P.S. Let's Talk About Muslim Countries

Just for a little perspective, let's see what's happening in some of the Muslim majority countries:

- In Pakistan, there is continuous persecution of minorities including Christians, Ahmadiyas and Hindus. Their blasphemy law has caused dozens of people to be jailed with no accountability or recourse to fair trials.

- In Egypt, Coptic Christians are routinely persecuted, their churches burned and their women and girls kidnapped and forced to convert.

- There is massive oppression and violence against non-Muslims in many parts of Muslim Africa.

- In Iran, Christians, Bahais and other minorities are continuously persecuted.

- In Saudi Arabia , non-Muslims have no rights.

So, when it's Muslims who are the oppressors, what kind of phobia should we call it?

A Whole Lot of Shaking Going On: Mt Rainier & New Madrid Fault

Mt. Rainier and the New Madrid fault zone are both shaking, and a catastrophic seismic event at either location would cause death and destruction on an unimaginable scale.

Mt. Rainier in Washington State has been called "one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world", and scientists tell us that it is just a matter of time before a major eruption occurs.

When that day finally arrives, Mt. Rainier has the potential to bury hundreds of square miles with a colossal tsunami of super-heated mud that is literally several hundred feet deep.  And since Mt. Rainier is very close to major population centers, we are talking about the potential for the worst disaster that we have seen in modern American history.

But a massive earthquake along the New Madrid fault zone actually has the potential to be far worse.  A very deep scar under the ground that was created when North America was originally formed has made that part of the country very mechanically weak, and many experts believe that a big enough earthquake along that fault zone could literally rip the United States in half.

But before we discuss the New Madrid fault zone, let's talk about what just happened at Mt. Rainier first.

According to the USGS, Mt. Rainier was hit by a magnitude 3.6 earthquake on Sunday afternoon...

After a spurt of seismic activity this weekend, Mount Rainier National Park was shaken by a 3.6 magnitude earthquake Sunday afternoon.

The quake hit at 12:31 p.m. and was felt as far as Kent, WA nearly 80 miles away, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The relatively shallow quake was centered roughly a mile beneath the earth's surface.

In addition to that quake, there have been quite a few others in recent days.

In fact, it is being reported that Mt. Rainier has been hit by "more than a dozen" earthquakes since Thanksgiving day.

The Seattle Times is assuring us that this is perfectly normal, but they are also warning their readers that they "should prepare for what might happen in the event of an eruption" just in case...

Regardless, people living near Mount Rainier should prepare for what might happen in the event of an eruption, said Wes Thelen, a research seismologist at the Cascade Volcano Observatory. Specifically, an eruption could cause lahars -- large volcanic mudflows -- to rip down the side of the mountain.

Many of my readers clearly remember the eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980, but a catastrophic eruption of Mt. Rainier would be so much worse that the two events would not even be worth comparing.  The following comes from Wikipedia...

If Mt. Rainier were to erupt as powerfully as Mount St. Helens did in its May 18, 1980 eruption, the effect would be cumulatively greater, because of the far more massive amounts of glacial ice locked on the volcano compared to Mount St. Helens, the vastly more heavily populated areas surrounding Rainier, and the simple fact that Mt Rainier is a much bigger volcano, almost twice the size of St. Helens. Lahars from Rainier pose the most risk to life and property, as many communities lie atop older lahar deposits.

According to Geoff Clayton, a geologist with a Washington State Geology firm, RH2 Engineering, a repeat of the 5000-year-old Osceola Mudflow would destroy Enumclaw, Orting, Kent, Auburn, Puyallup, Sumner and all of Renton. Such a mudflow might also reach down the Duwamish estuary and destroy parts of downtown Seattle, and cause tsunami in Puget Sound and Lake Washington. Rainier is also capable of producing pyroclastic flows and expelling lava.

A lahar is essentially a giant tsunami of super-heated mud, and they can be hundreds of feet high.  If you live in that region, you might be thinking that you will just outrun any lahar that is headed your way, but the truth is that the highways will instantly be jammed once an eruption happens and a lahar can travel at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour.  The following is how one author described the danger that those living in the area could potentially be facing...

The numerous towns and cities that occupy the surrounding valley would all be at risk for not only severe destruction, but complete annihilation. Residents of cities like Orting, Sumner, Buckley, and Enumclaw are estimated to have no more than 30 minutes before the lahar, speeding down from the many rivers that flow from Mount Rainier, buries their homes and businesses beneath as much as 30 feet of mud and debris.

Even the larger cities like Auburn, Puyallup, and Tacoma itself are not safe. Auburn and Puyallup, with nearly 80,000 residents between them, would be covered in 20 feet of mud in less than an hour, and Tacoma, at almost 200,000, is estimated to be hit with nearly 10 feet from the lahar.

As you can see, the death and destruction would be off the charts, and let us hope that such a disaster does not arrive any time soon.

And as I mentioned earlier, a major earthquake along the New Madrid fault zone has the potential to create even greater death and destruction.

According to scientists, the New Madrid fault zone sits directly above a very deep geological scar that was created when North America was formed.  According to Wikipedia, this immense scar makes "the Earth's crust in the New Madrid area mechanically weaker than much of the rest of North America".

Today, the New Madrid fault zone is approximately six times bigger than the San Andreas fault zone in California.  It covers portions of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi, and the largest earthquakes in the lower 48 states have happened in this region.

Scientists assure us that it is just a matter of time before more catastrophic earthquakes hit this fault zone, and that is why what has been happening near the town of Ridgely, Tennessee in recent days is so concerning...

A swarm of at least 15 earthquakes reaching up to 2.1 magnitude rattled Ridgely, Tennessee -- a small town near the Mississippi River -- over a two-day period, the U.S. Geological Survey reports.

The other quakes in the swarm ranged from 1.1 to 1.5 magnitude, according to the USGS.

Most Americans have never heard of Ridgely, and it is definitely a very small town, but what makes this so important is that Ridgely sits directly inside the New Madrid fault zone...

Ridgely is home to just 1,657 people, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, and sits less than four miles from the banks of the Mississippi River.

It's also part of the New Madrid Seismic Zone -- which the Missouri Department of Natural Resources refers to as "the most active seismic area in the United States, east of the Rocky Mountains."

In 1811 and 1812, four absolutely massive earthquakes along the New Madrid fault zone opened up very deep fissures in the ground, they caused the Mississippi River to actually run backwards in certain places, and they were reportedly felt as far away as Washington D.C. and Boston.

Fortunately, very few people populated the region in those days, but if such a quake happened today the death and destruction would be unimaginable.  The following description of one of the quakes that happened in 1811 comes from Smithsonian.com, and for a moment I would like for you to imagine what would happen if such an earthquake happened in our time...

The Midwest was sparsely populated, and deaths were few. But 8-year-old Godfrey Lesieur saw the ground "rolling in waves." Michael Braunm observed the river suddenly rise up "like a great loaf of bread to the height of many feet." Sections of riverbed below the Mississippi rose so high that part of the river ran backward. Thousands of fissures ripped open fields, and geysers burst from the earth, spewing sand, water, mud and coal high into the air.

The New Madrid fault zone has altered the course of the Mississippi River before, and someday it will happen again.

We live at a time when our planet appears to be getting increasing unstable.  In addition to the other earthquakes that I have already mentioned, Alaska was actually hit by a magnitude 6.0 earthquake on Monday.

Unfortunately, most Americans are not going to start caring about the warning signs until a major disaster has already happened.

Most people will simply not wake up without a major amount of shaking, and let us hope that such a day can be put off for as long as possible.
