Funeral Held For Coretta Scott King

A teacher in south Texas has been accused of telling a student she’s not allowed to read the Bible at school.

During reading time at Hamilton Elementary School in Cypress, a young girl claims she was told that she wasn’t allowed to read the Bible and isn’t even allowed to bring one to school.

Michael Berry, an attorney with the Liberty Institute who is representing the family, says the family would like to remain anonymous.

“Those are serious allegations when it comes to our students’ constitutional rights,” said Berry. “That would clearly be a violation of the constitution, federal law and Texas state law.”

Marion County, Oregon commissioners approved an order Thursday to stop an incinerator from using aborted babies to generate power. The order states that the incinerator must stop accepting medical waste until procedures are in place to ensure aborted babies are not among the substances burned to produce electricity.

As Breitbart News’ Warner Todd Huston reported earlier on Thursday, authorities in Victoria, British Columbia revealed that the remains of aborted babies are disposed of in the United States and sent to a facility that burns waste to provide electric power for Oregon residents.

According to the Associated Press, pro-life Marion County commissioners Sam Brentano and Janet Carlson said they were horrified to learn that the Marion County Resource Recovery Facility in Brooks might be burning aborted babies to generate power.

“We’re going to get [to] the bottom of it,” Carlson said. “I want to know who knew, when they knew, how long they had known this was going on.”

ally acknowledging “humanists” among other faiths and belief systems, ending years of resistance to the idea, advocates say.

The faith code for Humanism — a secular belief system — was officially approved by the service alongside Muslim, Hindu, Wiccan, Jewish, Buddhist and various Christian denominations.

The religious “preference code,” which troops can select to denote their preference, became effective for humanists on April 12.

Army Maj. Ray Bradley, in a blog post, said for years he and others had to choose between “atheist” or “no religious preference,” which inaccurately described his beliefs.

“The ability to accurately identify myself in my official Army records as a humanist is not only a matter of personal integrity and dignity, but it also has important implications for my military service,” said Bradley, who is stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C.

Bradley made a request in 2011 that was blocked initially, but was approved after intervention on his behalf by the American Civil Liberties Union and the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers.

A Christian Virtue

Thought For The Week

I am being very frank about this and I hope I am being helpful: do not ever say you are not right with God because you like some people better than others! I believe you can be right with God and still not like the way some people behave. It is easy to love those who are the friendly; others rub us the wrong way or perhaps they cut us down. The writer to the Hebrews has appealed to us as Christian believers to "let brotherly love continue" -- in other words, "never stop loving one another in the Lord." Here is what I have found: it is possible to love people in the Lord even though you may not like their boorish or distasteful human traits. We still love them for Jesus' sake! Yes, I believe you can be right with God and still not like the way some people behave. Our admonition is to love them in a larger and more comprehensive way because we are all one in Christ Jesus. This kind of love is indeed a Christian virtue!
