PA: Official: Recognizing Israel As a Jewish State is Fantasy

The Palestinian Authority (PA) stubbornly clings to its resolution not to recognize Israel as a Jewish state, despite the move's contribution to the failure of peace talks - and the PA's faltering image.

On Thursday, PA official Mahmoud Khalifa called Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman's demands that the PA recognize Israel as a Jewish state a "fantasy," and claimed Israel is "running away from the implementation of the peace process, and conditions which would cover up [its] crimes of [building] settlements and land theft."

Khalifa also said that Israel's operations against terrorism in PA-run areas constitute "aggressive and unilateral actions which show clearly that Israel is skirting the peace process."

He then accused both Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Liberman of power-mongering - and murder.

"The logic of power has taken hold in the occupation, which is still dominant in the leadership of the Israeli right," Khalifa fired. "Liberman's and Netanyahu's statements  [. . .] prove once again that the occupation is the problem, and causes thousands of barbaric massacres, resulting in hundreds thousands of martyrs, wounded and prisoners, all because they refuse to accede to the policy of the occupiers."

Khalifa concluded by saying that Israel has been covering up "murder" for "over a century" under the auspices of the Israeli government, and that anti-terror operations are "blaming the victim."

The PA has already formally refused to recognize Israel as a Jewish state throughout talks, and got the Arab League to similarly reject Israel as the Jewish state. PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's stubbornness on the issue has been among the key sticking points in peace talks, which failed after the PA ran to the UN to apply for membership in international organizations.

US government delays Keystone XL pipeline decision
The US state department has given federal agencies more time to review the Keystone XL oil pipeline before it determines whether to issue a permit. The delay suggests the decision whether to approve the pipeline could come after November's midterm elections. The 875-mile (1,408km) pipeline would carry tar sands oil from Alberta, Canada, to the US state of Nebraska.

The Occult Meaning of Lady Gaga’s Video “G.U.Y.”
While one could argue that Gaga playing the role of a fallen angel might not inherently imply that she’s referring to Lucifer, a look at the symbolism later in the video strongly points towards it. Indeed, much of the video plays on the esoteric associations between Lucifer, Venus and Ishtar.

Despite calls for a peaceful dialogue in the document on Ukraine adopted in Geneva, the coup-imposed Ukrainian Foreign Minister said it will not affect the “anti-terrorist” operation in the East of the country and the troops will remain there.

Soon after the Geneva document, adopted at a four-side meeting between Ukraine, the US, the EU and Russia, was published, Ukraine’s acting Foreign Minister Andrey Deshchytsa said Kiev is not bound by its recommendations.

According to Deshchytsa cited by RIA Novosti, “the troops in the East of the country are carrying out a special operation and can remain where they are.”

This comes despite the statement issued by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry following the meeting, which says:

“All sides have pledged to refrain from any form of violence, intimidation or provocative actions. The participants of the meeting strongly condemned and rejected all forms of extremism, racism and religious intolerance, including manifestations of anti-Semitism.”

Deshchytsa said the Ukrainian side has agreed on “joint efforts” with Russia “to start the process of de-escalation in eastern Ukraine.”

EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton has assessed the talks as “frank but constructive discussions,” saying that “it was extremely important to bring us all together here to have that process of dialogue begin.”
