At the official launch of two German-funded UNRWA projects in southern Lebanon, Director of UNRWA Affairs in Lebanon, Ann Dismorr, posed with a map that erases the State of Israel and presents all of it as "Palestine."

The map includes both the Palestinian Authority areas as well as all of Israel. Above the map is the Palestinian flag and the inscription "Arab Palestine." The text at the bottom of the map also says "Palestine." The neighboring countries Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon are all named on the map as is the Mediterranean Sea. Israel is not mentioned or designated anywhere. Several places and cities, both in Israel and from the Palestinian Authority, are included on the map of "Palestine": The Negev desert, Be'er Sheva, Rafah (Gaza), Hebron, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Jaffa, Haifa, Acre, Tiberias and the Dead Sea.

The map was presented at the launch of an UNRWA project to improve the water supply network and rehabilitate shelters in the Rashidieh Camp, and was a gift from the "Palestinian Women's Union," the Palestinian news site pn-news.net reported.

According to UNRWA's website, Germany was represented at the launching ceremony by the Head of Economic Cooperation and Development at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Lebanon Dr. Hanan Abdul Rida. The website further mentioned that "a number of high ranking Lebanese and Palestinian officials" were present.

Palestinian Media Watch reports on the PA's denial of Israel's right to exist, and its portrayal of "Palestine" as replacing Israel.

Syrian Rebels in Cannibalistic Shock Video

Rebels fighting against Syrian strongman Bashar Assad's forces have published a shock video showing one of them eating the heart of a dead rival.

Some in Israel saw the video as further proof that the U.S. is pursuing a wrongheaded Middle East policy. David Haivri of the Samaria Regional Council commented on the video, saying that "Syrian rebels are committing war crimes and proud to display this on the internet. If these animals win the war they will be glad to eat our hearts and abuse our women.

"The USA's lightheaded actions in the Middle East are a threat to Israel," he added.

Meanwhile, deadly weekend car bombings in a southern Turkish city "have galvanized domestic opposition to the government's steadfast support for Syrian rebels amid fears that Turkey is being dragged into the bloody conflict across its border," the Los Angeles Times reported.

"The chaos of Syria has been transported here," said Faruk Logoglu, deputy chairman of the opposition Republican People's Party, speaking Monday from the stunned town of Reyhanli, close to the Syrian border. "This is a direct result of the government's Syria policy."

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has allowed Turkish territory to be used as a logistics and organizing base for armed rebels opposed to Assad.

Support for Same - Sex Marriage Now Firmly Above 50 Percent, Poll Says

For the third time in the past year, more than 50 percent of Americans say they support same-sex marriage, a new Gallup poll released Monday states.

The figure shows a remarkable shift in public attitudes over the past two decades. In 1996, just 27 percent of Americans said they supported same-sex marriage. Even just three years ago, the figure was only 44 percent, the survey shows.

But the last three polls — in May 2011, November 2011 and Monday’s release — have put the number at 53 percent, an all-time high.

The change has largely been driven by young people. Monday’s survey shows that 70 percent of 18- to 29-year-olds support same-sex marriage. In 1996, it was just 41 percent, and in 2010, only 52 percent.

Support among other age groups also has increased, but by much less.

A dozen states now allow same-sex couples to marry, with Rhode Island and Delaware recently joining those ranks. Minnesota appears poised to become the 13th.

Putin Again Warns Netanyahu Hands Off Syria

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spent three hours with Russian President Vladimir Putin at his residence in the Black Sea resort of Sochi, Tuesday, May, 14. He came for a last-ditch attempt to head off the supply of advanced Russian anti-air S-300 missile systems to Syria. Instead, the Russian leader turned the conversation around to focus implicitly on Israel’s air strikes against Damascus on May 3 and May 5. After their conversation he issued a warning: "In this crucial period it is especially important to avoid any moves that can shake the situation."
This was clearly a hands-off caution to Israel not to repeat its attacks on Damascus. And, furthermore, after “shaking the situation” in Syria by its air attacks, Israel was in no position to demand that Russia avoid selling Syria advanced weapons.
The prime minister, for his part, warned that the entire Middle East was in a dangerous state of volatility.

He was accompanied by Israeli Military Intelligence Chief Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi. Opposite him sat Mikhail Fradkov, SVR Director.

Kochavi laid before the Russian leader the information Israel had gathered on the state of Syria’s chemical weapons with relevance to their transfer to the Lebanese Hizballah.
Before Netanyahu’s arrival for the meeting, Moscow took two preparatory steps:

1. Russian diplomats leaked to the London-based Arab press a report that the S-300 missiles had already arrived in Syria. According to Al-Quds Al-Arabi, Moscow had delivered 200 launchers (probably missiles) and the Syrian missile teams already knew how to use them.
By this leak, the Israeli prime minister was being informed that his journey to Sochi was a waste of time and that the use of S-300 missiles for shooting down Israeli Air Force planes was no longer controlled by Moscow but by Damascus.
2.  The prominent strategic analyst, Viktor Kremenyuk of The USA and Canada Institute in Moscow, reported Tuesday that Netanyahu arrived in Sochi to indirectly let Putin know that “Israel would destroy the S-300s when they are delivered and start being assembled.”
The deputy director of an important Russian think tank which advises the Kremlin on North American policy does not tend to make idle comments.
debkafiles Moscow sources interpreted Kremenyuk’s remark as a means of informing the Israeli leader that Moscow was not impressed by such threats. Instead of pushing Putin to stop the S-300 missiles, Israel would be more advantageously employed urging the Obama administration to adopt a more realistic stand on Syria and Bashar Assad.
In Moscow's view, Washington must be brought to give up its threat of Western military intervention in Syria, of which the Israeli air strikes appeared to Putin as the harbinger, and come to terms with Assad’s presence in any political solution of the Syrian conflict.

These positions the Russian President had conveyed previously to US Secretary of State John Kerry and UK Prime Minister David Cameron. He made it clear to Netanyahu that he stood by them as firmly as ever. Therefore, say debkafile’s sources, so long as both powers remain entrenched in their positions, there is not much hope of their coming together on an international conference to resolve the Syrian conflict.
debkafiles military sources add: It is also unlikely that the Russian and Israeli leaders had a chance to work out reciprocal ground rules for the Russian officers supervising the S-300 missile operations in Syria to avoiding hitting Israeli Air Force jets or for Israeli bombers to refrain from destroying them.

The S-300 is designed to shoot down planes and missiles at 200-km ranges.
Israel is concerned that Moscow may decided to send the six S-300 batteries carrying 144 missiles due for Syria along with Russian missile and air defense specialists. They will also be available for operating the missiles effectively for downing Israeli Air Force planes striking targets in Syria and Lebanon. Israel will be forced to think twice before attacking the S-300 batteries for fear of hitting the Russian officers. Putin is therefore placing a severe constraint on Israel’s operational freedom by spreading an anti-air missile cover over the Syrian, Hizballah and the Iranian Basij forces fighting for Bashar Assad.

Lawmakers rip Justice Department over AP phone records grab
Lawmakers from both parties sharply questioned the Justice Department late Monday over its reported effort to secretly obtain two months of phone records from Associated Press journalists, with House Speaker John Boehner’s office saying “they better have a damned good explanation.” "I am deeply concerned by numerous reports of misconduct by the administration, from (whistle-blower) testimony regarding Benghazi to the Internal Revenue Service targeting groups based on political ideology and now the Department of Justice monitoring journalists with the Associated Press,” he said.

Pavlov volcano (Alaska): probable new eruption

Similar patterns of seismicity and elevated surface temperatures have previously signalled the onset of eruptive activity at Pavlof.

NASA: Solar flare was first of most intense class observed this year
NASA says a solar flare emitted by the sun late Sunday was an "X-class" event -- the most intense flares -- and the first such "X" flare of the year. Peaking at 10 p.m. EDT, the flare was accompanied by another solar phenomenon known as coronal mass ejection that can send solar material out into space. This CME was not Earth-directed, the space agency said Monday.

Israeli PM meets with President Putin for Syria-dominated talks
Benjamin Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin are meeting in the Russian city of Sochi to discuss Syria. It is the latest in a series of talks pushing for Damascus and the rebels to negotiate an end to the bloody conflict. Israel is expected to address the issue of possible Russian plans to sell advanced air defense systems to Damascus. Moscow stated on Friday that there were no such plans, however, S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems could still be shipped to Syria under an existing contract.

Terrorist super-axis to strike within U.S.
Three targets have been chosen within America for imminent attack, and the terror teams have now cut communications with the operational center in Iran, a sign that they are moving ahead with the attacks, according to a high-level intelligence officer within the Islamic regime.

Rajoub: Israel should beware, we are enemies
Jibril Rajoub, a Fatah Central Committee member who recently visited Lebanon, said in an interview with the Hezbollah affiliated television network Al Mayadeen, "We the Palestinians are the enemies of Israel." In the interview, which took place earlier this month, Rajoub emphasized that Fatah now supports popular resistance, but has not abandoned the idea of armed resistance.

SOLAR ACTIVITY SURGES
A sunspot on the sun's eastern limb is crackling with powerful X-class solar flares. Just-numbered AR1748 announced itself during the early hours of May 13th with an X1.7-class eruption (0217 UT), quickly followed by an X2.8-class flare (1609 UT) and an X3.2-class flare (0117 UT on May 14). 7.0 magnitude earthquake rattles north Mariana Islands
A deep 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck near the Northern Mariana Islands in the western Pacific on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said, but no tsunami warning was issued. The quake hit 42 kilometres (26 miles) west of Agrihan and 395 kilometres north of the main island Saipan, but it was at a depth of 603 kilometres and seismologists said it was too deep to cause any impact.

Solar flare double whammy: 2 biggest flares of year within 24 hours
The sun erupted for the second time in less than 24 hours Monday morning, releasing the most powerful solar flare so far of 2013. Monday's solar flare, which peaked at 9 a.m. Pacific time, came just 14 hours after the second largest solar flare of 2013, which occurred on Sunday evening. A solar flare is a huge explosion in the sun's atmosphere that sends out a burst of radiation. The Earth's atmosphere protects us from that radiation, but some satellites could be affected.

Father of Pakistan’s Nuclear Program: North Korea’s Nuclear Armed Missiles Ready to Attack

The colourful “father” of Pakistan’s nuclear bomb, Abdul Qadeer Khan, has claimed North Korea may have perfected a nuclear weapon and long-range missile warheads, according to Al Jazeera English.

Khan, a gifted scientist but shady individual, is believed to have sold nuclear technology to North Korea.

“No doubt they are quite capable and they can do it,” Khan told the channel. “They can even build an [intercontinental ballistic missile] if they want to.”

Khan admitted the North’s missile technology is “crude” and “not as sophisticated as the western countries have. But sometimes a crude system will also work. It is good enough to frighten other people.”

Khan is revered as a national hero by some in Pakistan but spent years under house arrest for selling nuclear technology to North Korea, Libya and Iran.

But in the latest interview he claimed North Korea “got all their engineers and scientists trained in China and the Soviet Union in this field.”

Turning to Irans suspected nuclear arms program, he called the allegations Western “propaganda,” on a par with Iraq’s non-existent weapons of mass destruction that duped a number of UN member states into backing the U.S. invasion in 2003.

Eu Bank Proposals ‘risk Domino Sequence of Failures’

At a meeting of EU finance ministers, the Chancellor will give British backing to a new principle that taxpayers should no longer have to pick up the bill for insolvent banks, meaning that debts must be written off, replacing bail-outs with “bail-ins” of creditors.

Mr Osborne will, however, express his concerns that the proposed new regime does not give the Bank of England (BoE) the “discretion” to look at wider economic and financial stability questions before taking a view on which creditors take on the losses of a failed bank.

His fear is that proposals for “depositor preference” set at the EU level might force the BoE to target bonds in a troubled bank that are owned by other financial institutions, often pension funds. Those creditor institutions that lent money would then be hit by losses, potentially creating a “domino effect” spreading beyond one failed bank to the entire financial sector.

In such circumstances, Britain wants the Bank of England to have the power to consider imposing losses on depositors, above the secured level of €100,000 (£85,000) as well as bondholders, to preserve financial stability.

CIA Mole: Three Iranian Terror Cells in U.S. Ordered to Strike Targets

Iran has given the go-ahead to operatives of three terrorist groups that have infiltrated the United States to carry out missions, including what is expected to be a Mumbai-style attack on a hotel where innocent bystanders would be killed, WND has learned.

A full report with many details of the missions has been passed on to U.S. officials.

Three targets have been chosen within America for imminent attack, and the terror teams have now cut communications with the operational center in Iran, a sign that they are moving ahead with the attacks, according to a high-level intelligence officer within the Islamic regime.

If only one of the attacks occurs, the regime will consider the operation a success, the source said. Tehran believes, he said, an attack would not be traced back to Iran due to the nationalities of the operators.

One of the planned attacks resemble the Mumbai attack in 2008, the source added, in which a hotel was targeted, hostages were taken and 164 people were killed over several days. India alleges Pakistan used proxies to carry out the Mumbai attack so it wouldn’t be traced back to Pakistan, just as Iran now is using proxies to hide its current terrorism. The information provided by the source provides details of a new jihadist coalition with a focus on creating instability in the U.S.
