U.S. Ultimatum Averted Iranian - Pakistani Warships’ Drill in Port Sudan
Dec 3rd, 2012

Iranian and Pakistani warships had planned their first ever rendezvous to take place in Port Sudan Friday, Nov. 30. It was rumored in Khartoum that the Pakistani Shashmir had docked Thursday carrying nuclear arms or nuclear-related equipment ready to meet two Iranian warships for joint naval drills on the Red Sea.
The United States put a stop to this plan at the last moment by threatening to call off the direct talks with Tehran that were scheduled to open Saturday, Dec. 1.

The naval exercise would have seen Iran collaborating for the first time in military activity with a nuclear power that would take place, moreover, close to the shores of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Israel. Parading the two Muslim powers in military partnership - one a nuclear power and Iran on the threshold of attaining nuclear arms – was an attempt by Tehran to leverage its position as a regional power when facing Washington at the negotiating table.

Responding to persistent reports of nuclear arms aboard the Pakistani vessel, the Port Sudan Director Sheiba Mohamed Babikir issued the following statement on Dec. 1: “There is no risk to the lives of citizens who want to visit the ships as all weapons will be secured.”

According to debkafile’s military and intelligence sources, Riyadh and Jerusalem warned the Obama administration separately last week that unless the Iranian-Pakistani maneuver was called off, action would be taken to prevent it, prompting Washington’s stiff message to Tehran that their nuclear talks were on the line unless it was cancelled.
Our sources disclose that Tehran climbed down and postponed the visit by its two warships to Port Sudan to a later date, Dec. 7. By then, the Pakistani vessel would have departed.

Since the US was not certain until the last minute how Tehran would act to the warning, it was decided to reschedule the first US-Iranian session from Saturday to another date this week.
Both have thrown a dense blanket of secrecy over the talks, their venue and the identities and ranks of their negotiating teams. The only hint that something of the kind was up was offered by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Friday, Nov. 30, when she sad: “We are working on the G5-1 and making our willingness known that we are ready to have a bilateral discussion if they are ever ready to engage.”

A day earlier, Robert Wood, US delegate to the International Atomic Energy Agency, set March 1 as the deadline for Iran to deliver positive results, failing which, Washington would turn to the UN Security Council.

DEBKA-Net-Weekly ran an exclusive review exploring the issues and prospects of the direct talks between the Obama administration and the Islamic regime headed by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Extreme Saudi objections to these talks were set out in an article run by the royal mouthpiece, the London-based Ashark al-Awsat Monday, Dec. 3. Referring to Clinton’s remark, the paper’s editorial said:

“The problem with the current US administration is that the carpet merchants, i.e. the Iranians, understand full well that Washington is not trying to change what has already changed; rather it is seeking to coexist with the new status quo… Thus … Iran and the US will negotiate at our expense, i.e. at the expense of all those in the Middle East and of course the Gulf…This is the strategic Iranian goal; either to use a nuclear weapon to impose its influence or to use negotiations as a means to extend that influence, while America’s behavior in this regard is lax.”

U.S. Steps Up Surveillance on Bushehr Safety

Two days after DEBKAfile disclosed exclusively that Iran’s nuclear reactor at Bushehr was shut down in mid-October for fear of an explosion, the Wall Street Journal Monday quoted US officials as reporting that surveillance had been stepped up in alarm over activities at Bushehr, especially the removal of fuel rods from the plant in October, just two months after it became fully operational.
“Nuclear experts said they are more concerned about safety at the reactor, for now, than about the prospect that Tehran will use the facility to develop atomic weapons.”

The Crisis of Temptation

The Preparation

In Matthew one, we see Christ born a King and Messiah (Saviour). We then have thirty years of preparation in obscurity for His ministry. Then we have His baptism, which reveals the commitment of himself to the ministry His Father gave to Him and the approval of His Father for that ministry.

Now we see His temptation. His victory over temptation proves Him morally qualified to be both Saviour and King.

The Conflict

This text reveals a tremendous conflict between Satan and the new man Christ who came in the flesh. Though Christ is God of very God, yet He is also Jesus born the new man. This is the continuation of the conflict of the ages. It all began in Eden, read Isaiah 14:12-14. It continued in Eden as Adam and Eve were enticed and deceived by sin. They became sinners and were shut out of God’s presence!

In Matthew a new Adam (Christ) comes on the scene. He is called the second Adam by Paul in 1 Cor. 15. He is a man like us, yet without a sin nature. He is the progenitor of a new race of men. He has come to redeem men and to make them partakers of His divine nature. He has come to make men participants in a new race of men.

The launching of Christ’s ministry was the launching of a campaign to overthrow Satan! This battle would be the most important conflict ever to take place between man and Satan! It is fitting for both sides that this battle should take place immediately at the start of Christ’s ministry.

The Place

The place of the conflict was selected by God’s Spirit. Verse 1, “Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.” It was the Spirit of God that led Christ into the wilderness to be tempted. All through Christ’s life and ministry God was sovereignly in control, selecting His time and His place for each event.

See the contrast between the place of Adam’s defeat and the place of Christ’s victory over temptation. The First Adam was tested under the most ideal circumstances. He was tempted in a beautiful garden with enough to eat, and not alone but with companionship, and he failed the test.

The Second Adam was tested under the most adverse circumstances possible, hungry and alone in a hot desolate wilderness. He was surrounded by wild animals and He was tired and weary, and He passed the test. The secret of victory over temptation or the cause of failure in the matter of temptation lies within the man and not without. Christ’s victory was related to that which was within, a sinless nature and a sinless heart.

We also live in the place of temptation. This world is a barren spiritual wilderness. Since the fall temptation has been a constant, unrelenting part of human life. Man’s problem of temptation is related to that which is within him; a sinful nature and a sinful heart.

The Purpose

John has already announced the purpose when he pronounced Him to be, The Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

If Christ is to be the Messiah, the Saviour of the world, the King, then He must be proven to be without sin Himself. We have the parallel in the sacrificial lamb which was a type of Christ. It had to be a perfect lamb without spot or blemish, in like manner Christ had to be demonstrated to be sinless! The temptation was to prove just that; to prove that Christ was morally able to atone for sin and to prove that Christ was morally able to rule the world in righteousness.

I suspect that the whole forty days were filled with temptations. I suspect that the Spirit of God just zeros in on three climactic temptations.

Let us look at the some of these temptations.

An Appeal to Act Independently of God

Verse 3, Command these stones be made bread Notice first that the tempter came to Him, we cannot say in what form the Devil came to Him. God’s Word does not tell us. He comes to you and I and we cannot see him or touch him, sometimes we are not even aware of his presence. Yet he comes over and over to us!

If thou be the Son of God,” I believe this is not to raise doubt but to appeal as a temptation. I think it can be read in this manner,Since thou art the Son of God.” The devil is suggesting three things here.

Exercise your rights, Satan is suggesting; surely as the Son of God you have some rights of your own. Surely as a son, you have a right to act independently of God the father. That was Satan’s basic thrust, to entice Christ to act independently of His Father!

Our whole society is built on the crumbling foundations of this lie of Satan! We hear constantly about Individual rights and human rights that usurp God’s authority in the lives of men and women. We have heard about a woman who has had three children out of marriage and has murdered all three in her womb. We read that society has risen up to defend her right to do that. God’s Word teaches that men and women were created by God and are accountable to Him. Satan comes to you and me and to men and women everywhere, with the lie that we have the right to do whatever we want. God says,The soul that sinneth it shall die,” Ezekiel 18:4.

God doesn’t care about you.

Satan continues his temptation of Christ. The implications of Satan were, you were born in a cattle shed, God doesn’t care about. You had to flee to Egypt because God wouldn’t protect you. God forsook you and you spent thirty years in obscurity with a common family in the hick town of Nazareth.  God doesn’t care about you! Satan still uses that tactic on God’s people today, have you been there?

Satan seems to imply, you are exhausted, hot, desolate and very hungry. God is going let you starve to death. You had better look after yourself; God isn’t going to look after you. You have the power to look after yourself, go ahead!

How similar to Genesis 3:5, For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” Satan was saying to Eve, “God is holding out on you!  God is holding something from you! God doesn’t really love you! Go ahead and exercise your rights! Don’t let God cheat you!”

Satan says the same thing to men and women today. God is holding out on you. God is holding something back from you. Don’t let God cheat you, you are going to miss out. Their so many exciting things out there in the world, pleasure, booze, sex, drugs, etc. God’s way is not clear. God’s way is not fair. God’s way is not the best way. Go ahead exercise your rights, don’t let God cheat you.

Satan hates God! This attack on Christ was an attempt to fracture the unity of God. In his incredible pride and audacity he is attacking God. He is attempting to destroy God!

The answer - Live by God’s Word

We have Christ’s answer in verse 4,But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”  Christ replies to Satan, “Man shall not live by bread alone

There is a world out there that tells us; fornication is alright, just be careful you don’t get an STD. Adultery is alright, but try not to break up a family if you can. Homosexuality is a legitimate alternative life style. Drunkenness is just good fun, but don’t drink and drive. Abortion is alright, a woman has rights and comfort is more important than a human life. Anything goes, try not to hurt others in the process.

Jesus is crying out No! No! No! Man must live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God!” The problem in our world is that man has long since said, “There is no God!”  “The world and everything in it was not created by God!”  “God doesn’t own it!”  “It just evolved and there is no God!” And in the vacuum man has created he is busy deciding what is right and what is wrong. But man has no yardsticks to go by, so he has cast off all restraints! But Jesus said, not so!Man must live by every word that comes out of the mouth of God. Realize that God has made you and you are accountable to Him. Every man’s responsibility is to find out from God’s Word what God’s will is and then to do it.

Monster Sinkholes An Indication That Major Earth Changes are Coming Along the New Madrid Fault?
Dec 3rd, 2012
Daily News
By Michael Snyder
Categories: Commentary;Warning

Michael Snyder: The most powerful earthquakes in the history of the United States happened along the New Madrid Fault in 1811 and 1812. Those earthquakes were reportedly felt more than 1,000 miles away. Scientists assure us that one day we will once again see very powerful earthquakes along the New Madrid fault. It is only a question of when it will happen. Today, the New Madrid fault zone covers portions of Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi. However, a major earthquake of magnitude-8.0 or greater would likely have a dramatic effect all the way from the Great Lakes all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico. When most Americans speak of the “big one”, they think of what may happen along the coast of California someday, but the truth is that a New Madrid earthquake could potentially do far more damage. So is there evidence that the New Madrid fault zone is waking up? Yes, there is. According toBloomberg, there has been “a sixfold increase in the number of earthquakes that have shaken the central part of the U.S. from 2000 to 2011″. Much of that increase is being blamed on human activity such as mining, drilling and fracking. So could human activity aggravate the fault zone so much that it could set off a truly history-making earthquake at some point? Well, the potential is certainly there. That is why so many people are so concerned about the monster sinkholes that have appeared in the region in recent months. For example, a massive sinkhole down in Louisiana is now over 8 acres in size and it has forced hundreds of people to flee from their homes. Over in Ohio, a giant sinkhole has suddenly formed that is more than 30 feet deep and that is the size of four football fields. That sinkhole caused part of State Route 516 to collapse and authorities say that it will likely be closed for many months. Are these monster sinkholes an indication that major earth changes are coming along the New Madrid fault? Has reckless human activity awoken a sleeping giant that we should never have messed with?

The sinkhole down in Louisiana is of particular concern because it has been venting natural gas. A few days ago it reportedly “burped” which sounds kind of ominous. Could we see some kind of an “explosion” at some point?

Many of those living in the area may not be able to return to their homes for quite a long time. The following is from a recent Huffington Post article…

At the eight-acre, Bayou Corne sinkhole in Assumption Parish, owners of slab houses are waiting for methane-gas monitors to be installed in December. The sinkhole deepened in November and coughed up debris and hydrcarbons late in the month. Cypress trees fell into the gap. Residents are watching natural gas being flared from the site and are ventilating homes while bayous around them bubble.

But if human activity is capable of producing sinkholes that are 8 acres in size and capable of causing a “sixfold increase” in the number of earthquakes in the middle part of the country, is human activity also capable of setting off the New Madrid fault?

Sadly, even most Americans that are living in that part of the country don’t really understand how incredibly massive and how potentially destructive this fault zone actually is. The following is from a recent report from WREG in Memphis, Tennessee…

Many people don’t realize that north Alabama lies in the impact zone of the New Madrid fault line, a sleeping giant that is approximately twenty times larger than California’s famed San Andreas fault.

The biggest earthquake in U.S. history happened in the New Madrid seismic zone in 1812, and in just the last few weeks, activity along the fault line is starting to heat up.

If the earthquakes that happened along the New Madrid fault zone in 1811 and 1812 happened today, the devastation would be unimaginable. Back then, there were not that many people living in the area. But even so, the destruction was incredible…

Accounts of the 1812 quake vary since there were no measuring instruments at the time, but most geologists say evidence shows it was at least a magnitude 8 earthquake, and possibly a 9 or higher.

The shaking was so intense that church bells started ringing as far away as Boston and New York.

Chimneys toppled from the Deep South to Canada, and President James Madison was awoken by the violent shaking as he slept in the White House.

Eyewitnesses said it even caused the Mississippi River to flow backwards for a time.

Unfortunately, there are now indications that the fault zone is becoming more active as a recent Examiner article explained…

Tuesday evening, two shallow earthquakes, although small, were felt in Mt. Carmel, Ill. as well as five miles outside Edmond, Okla. Illinois had the largest at 3.6 magnitude, leaving Oklahoma with a smaller 2.9 magnitude quake as reported by the USGS.

The fact that both of these quakes were shallow and follow on the heels of Kentucky’s 4.3 just 10 days ago makes the questions begin to fly. Is the New Madrid waking up? Is it gearing up for ‘the big one’? When Ky. Experienced a 4.3 two weeks ago, it was felt across 10-12 states. Although it didn’t knock runners off their feet, it did alarm many. Knoxville was among the cities that felt the quake. The shaking was not minor in many areas, and it scared people as walls shook and many began to pray.

This is something that I have written about previously, and we all need to keep our eyes open for more reports about earthquakes in the middle part of the country. When the “big one” does finally hit the New Madrid fault zone, it will be one of the biggest news stories ever.

We are talking about a catastrophe that would be so immense that it would be hard to imagine. According to ABC News, a study by the Mid-America Earthquake Center found that in the event of a major earthquake along the New Madrid fault, “nearly 750,000 buildings would be damaged, 3,000 bridges would potentially collapse, 400,000 breaks and leaks to local pipelines and $300 billion in direct damage and $600 billion in indirect losses would occur.”

All of this is even more frightening when you consider that there are 15 nuclear reactors along the New Madrid fault zone.

In the event that the “big one” strikes, we could be looking at Fukushima times 15.

We have been blessed to have avoided a major earthquake like that for so long in the middle part of the country, but there is no guarantee that the New Madrid fault zone will always be stable – especially considering how much it is being aggravated by man-made activity.

There are even some that believe that eventually we will see an earthquake of magnitude-9.0 or higher along the New Madrid fault. Such an earthquake could literally change the face of the entire continent. We are talking about an event that could potentially change the course of the Mississippi River and create bodies of water where none existed previously.

We seem to be moving into a time of increased seismic activity on the earth, and many scientists are convinced that the New Madrid Fault zone is definitely overdue for a major earthquake.

A Federal Investigation

A federal investigation has begun in an Alabama school district after a Junior ROTC instructor allegedly expressed his belief that the Bible does not support the homosexual lifestyle during class.

The U.S. Department of Education recently sent a letter to Huntsville City Schools Superintendent Casey Wardynski, informing him that the department will be looking into the incident that occurred in April at Grissom High School.

A female student in the class was offended after the instructor, 1st Sgt. Lynn Vanzandt, expressed his beliefs about same-sex relationships. The 15-year-old student and her mother, Mia Gonzales, then contacted a local gay advocacy group, GLBT Advocacy and Youth Services, which complained to the school on the student's behalf.

"My first thought was, 'What if there was a gay student in that class that looked up to that instructor?'" Gonzales told AL.com in August. "I'm not arguing with what people believe. But what if this one student would have committed suicide? That was a concern for me."

On Nov. 21 the DOE sent a letter to James Robinson, director of GLBT Advocacy and Youth Services, which says the department will be investigating whether or not students were "subjected to a hostile environment on the basis of sex or harassment based on failing to conform to gender stereotypes." They will also seek to find out if the school district "retaliated against the Student...by failing to respond and take action reasonably calculated to stop the peer bullying."
