A War prior to the peace treaty?
Sep 1st, 2008
Art Sadlier

We understand that the war of Ezekiel 38 will be after the peace treaty is signed. Do Psalm 83 and Ezekiel 36 speak of a war that will take place prior to the peace treaty?

Since 1948, when Israel became a nation again, she has known nothing but wars and rumors of wars, in three major wars the prophecy of Zechariah 12:6 has been fulfilled. Today an alliance has formed against Israel, an alliance that is distinct from the alliance of Ezekiel 38. This group is made up of Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas, Lebanon and the Palestinian Authority. They have claimed the Temple Mount, the city of Jerusalem and have stated that there is no place for Jews in Palestine. Their avowed intention is to destroy Israel.

This group is now armed to the teeth with rockets and missiles and an array of military hardware that can destroy Israel. Syria is said to have 1,000 long range missiles that can reach anywhere in Israel as well as shorter range rockets. Syria’s arsenal is also believed to include chemical and biological warheads. Hezbollah is believed to have 40,000 missiles and rockets.

Isaiah prophesied the destruction of Damascus in the last days, is this event about to happen?

This last year it was discovered that Syria had an accident while loading nerve gas into a missile warhead, some 28 people died in that accident. A few months ago the story broke that Israel had attacked and destroyed, in Syria, a nuclear bomb or materials for a nuclear bomb that Syria had obtained from North Korea.

Today there is a momentum building in this group to attack Israel with an onslaught of missiles that have the potential to totally devastate Israel. Israel has a policy called the “Samson Option”. It is named after Samson who sacrificed himself to destroy his enemies. In the event of Israel’s imminent destruction, it would launch its nuclear weapons to destroy its enemies.

It is now obvious that Syria is totally committed to destroying Israel. The capital of Syria is Damascus; the bible has some ominous words for Damascus. Isaiah says, “The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap” Isaiah 17:1. Damascus is the oldest city on earth, though it has been conquered many times, it has never been destroyed, but has remained in tact until this day. The timing of the destruction of Damascus is revealed in verse 4, at a time when Israel is greatly threatened and is reduced to a state of peril and fear.

Another indication of the timing of this attack is implied in Ezekiel 38&39. The fact is that although Syria is now closely allied with Russia and Iran, yet she is not mentioned as being a part of that war, implying that the destruction of Damascus may be imminent.

It is obvious that Syria with the help of Iran, Russia and North Korea, is preparing an arsenal of biological and possibly nuclear weapons to destroy Israel. I believe that the moment that Israeli Intelligence is alerted to such an imminent attack they will exercise the “Samson Option”. The following news item appeared some weeks ago, “Israel to Syria: Use chemical weapons & we will wipe you off the map” (WND). Israel has low yield nuclear weapons that give a minimum of radio active fallout. These weapons could be used with pinpoint accuracy. To me, it seems the whole scenario is falling into place. It is amazing how after 2,800 years Isaiah’s prophecy seems about to be fulfilled.

A full scale nuclear war by Iran does not fit into the end time Biblical scenario; nevertheless the whole Mid-east crisis is rushing toward some kind of cataclysmic event which would finally set up the world for a peace treaty, even though it will be a false peace, by a false Messiah.

Isaiah 17:14 may well be a description of Damascus’ fate. “And behold at eventide trouble, and before the morning, he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us and the lot of them that rob us” (seek to take the Golan Heights).

I would tend to think that this event could happen prior to the rapture or at the time of the rapture. We are living in awesome days! The signs are multiplying, the Trumpet is Soon to Sound, are you ready or will you be ashamed at His coming?

Ascription of Glory
Sep 1st, 2008
A. W. Tozer

Yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. – 1 Peter 1:18 I am discovering that many Christians are not really comfortable with the holy attributes of God. In such cases, I am forced to wonder about the quality of their worship. The word “holy” is much more than an adjective saying that God is a holy God. It is an ecstatic ascription of glory to the triune God. Everything that appears to be good about men and women must be discounted, for we are humans. Abraham, David and Elijah, Moses, Peter and Paul—all were good men, but each had his human flaws and weaknesses as members of Adam’s race. Each had to find his own place of humble repentance. Because God knows our hearts and our intentions, He is able to restore His believing children in the faith! So, we should be honest and confess that much of our problem in continuing fellowship with a holy God is that many Christians only repent for what they do, rather than for what they are! With every telephone call, swipe of a card and click of a mouse, information is being recorded, compiled and stored about Britain’s citizens.

An investigation by The Sunday Telegraph has now uncovered just how much personal data is being collected about individuals by the government, law enforcement agencies and private companies each day.

In one week, the average person living in Britain has 3,254 pieces of personal information stored about him or her, most of which is kept in databases for years and in some cases indefinitely.

Church Growth Movement
Sep 1st, 2008
various sources

A strange distortion of truth has spread like a grass fire on a windy day, through churches around the world. It calls God’s people not just to understand our changing times from the world’s perspective, but to actually blow with the wind and help fuel the transformation. This Church Growth Movement (CGM) uses familiar old words to persuade the people, but it conforms God’s Word as well as human thinking to politically correct views of unity, community, service and change.

Forget solid Bible teaching and the “offense of the cross.” To win the masses “for Christ”, the church must be re-cloaked in a more permissive and appealing image. It must be marketed to the world as a “safe place”, purged of the moral standards which stirred conviction of sin and a longing to separate from the world’s immorality. So they re-imagined a feel-good church stripped of offense - one the world could love and claim as its own.

Their march to a “better world” is well under way. In this new church, group thinking, compromise, conflict resolution, the dialectic process and facilitated consensus are in. Uncompromising conviction and resistance to group consensus are out. For God’s way seems far too intolerant to fit the managed systems of the new millennium.

--Excerpt from Reinventing the Church

The Philadelphia Inquirer ran a story on Rick Warren which tells us a great deal about the man who is changing the face of American evangelicalism. Here’s an excerpt:

Warren predicts that fundamentalism, of all varieties, will be one of the big enemies of the 21st century. Muslim fundamentalism, Christian fundamentalism, Jewish fundamentalism, secular fundamentalism - they’re all motivated by fear. Fear of each other.”

This remark is no surprise to Pastor Bob DeWaay of Twin City Fellowship in Minneapolis. DeWaay has published a book which shines the spotlight on Rick Warren’s brand of Christianity and its sobering implications for the church. The title of DeWaay’s book “Redefining Christianity: Understanding the Purpose Driven Movement” describes what a growing number of Christians are seeing. Rick Warren has subtly and critically changed the message of the Gospel.

In the forward to the book, Gary Gilley, author of This Little Church Went to Market and pastor of Southern View Chapel in Springfield, Illinois, writes,

Bob (DeWaay) painstakingly shows that Rick Warren has done for the church what McDonald’s has done for the restaurant industry. Unfortunately, the church is not in the hamburger flipping business. Applying franchising principles to Christ’s church may result in outward success, but true success cannot be measured by simply reading the bottom line of ‘nickels and noses’, buildings and programs.”

In his steady, scholarly way, Bob DeWaay demonstrates that the Gospel according to Rick Warren is not a biblical call to sinners to throw down their rebel arms at the cross and embrace the salvation offered by the Lord Jesus Christ. Nowhere in the Purpose Driven Life are readers told that sinners (what an archaic term now) are under the wrath and curse of God unless they believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice on the cross. Rick Warren instead retools the Gospel message to appeal to the unregenerate. He does not believe that God’s purposes are declared in His revealed Word, but rather teaches that unsaved should go on a journey of self-discovery in order to locate God’s purposes for their lives.

To Rick Warren, church growth is not the result of the Holy Spirit converting sinners as seen in the book of Acts but is the result of the latest marketing techniques that will make church attractive to those who don’t know Jesus Christ. Thousands of churches are now Purpose Driven franchises with success hungry pastors taking their cues and even their sermons from Rick Warren. Rick Warren calls this “Church-in-a box” and he offers it on his numerous websites. But the true Gospel of Christ, the narrow way that Christ spoke of in the Bible, has been altered to suit the world. Numerical success may be achieved, but the Gospel must be obscured to do it Warren’s way.

Redefining Christianity has excellent chapters in which the author deals with Rick Warren’s redefining of terms like “vision” and “commitment” and his misuse of countless Bible versions and paraphrases to try to justify his teaching. The most important chapter in the book deals with the Gospel according to Rick Warren. The author points out that when original sin and the blood atonement are removed from the message, there is no “good news”. The world is then being given a gospel that is false. It really is that serious.

Rick Warren’s distaste for Christian fundamentalism, as expressed in the Philadelphia Inquirer, is a result of his distaste for the fundamentals of God’s Word. Those who insist on hearkening back to the Word of God stand in direct opposition to Warren’s “Purpose-Driven” marketing tsunami. Rick’s much vaunted PEACE plan, his unprecedented popularity with the secular media and his continuing ascendancy in American evangelicalism is dependant upon those pastors and leaders who are willing to set aside the clear dictates of God’s Word in order to ride the coattails of Rick Warren and his temporal success. Fundamentalists get in the way.

In the midst of the marketing hype and popular clamor for Rick Warren’s man-centered Gospel, may the clear voice of our Savior Jesus Christ cut through the din.

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7: 13-14 -- excerpt from “The Gospel According to Rick Warren” by B. Kjos

A False Gospel

Thousands of small groups using Saddleback’s study guide and Teaching Video for the 40 days of Purpose are led in a prayer. They hear Pastor Warren speak these words:

“Do you have a relationship with Jesus Christ? If you aren’t sure of this, I’d like the privilege of leading you in a prayer to settle the issue. Let’s bow our heads. I’m going to pray a prayer and you can follow it silently in your mind:

Dear god, I want to know Your purpose for my life. I don’t want to waste the rest of my life on the wrong things. Today I want to take the first step in preparing for eternity by getting to know You. Jesus Christ, I don’t understand it all, but as much as I know how, I want to open my life to You. I ask you to come into my life and make yourself real to me. Use this series to help me know what you made me for. Thank You. Amen.

If you just prayed that prayer for the very first time, I congratulate you. You’ve just become a part of the family of God.”

Is this a response to the gospel? Where is repentance, acknowledgement of need, confession of personal sin? Where is the cross? The Bible tells us that saving “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” Romans 10:17-18. But none of the Scriptures that show the gospel are mentioned in this first lesson. Biblically illiterate friends and neighbors who join the group would pray this prayer without any real knowledge of the cross, of the Savior, or of God’s view of sin. In fact, the meaning of salvation isn’t included in the first lesson. And if it had been there, the context of the lesson would suggest that we are merely saved from a purposeless life --- not from bondage to sin.

In a polluted stream there may be some good water, but to drink of that stream you may greatly harm yourself. The Purpose Driven stream is a polluted stream; you drink of it at great spiritual peril.

The PDC Program for Change

Focusing on the “customer’s perspective” brings success. People feel satisfied. They come and they buy. When this process is applied to churches, it works! With polls and surveys, a church can easily uncover the “felt needs” of the unbelievers in the local community - then target their services to their intended customers. Pastor Warren learned that lesson early from Robert Schuler - the “possibility thinker” who called Mikhail Gorbachev a Christian despite the protests of this unrepentant Communist. The people-pleasing methods that worked so well at the Crystal Cathedral would prove just as effective at Saddleback.

You might still wonder why pastors would focus on the felt needs of unbelievers rather than the true needs of God’s family. Doesn’t this strategy turn God’s principles upside down?

Yes, but it also attracts the spiritual diversity needed for the dialectic process - the heart of today’s transformation in churches as well as in business, education, government and other organizations. Dr. Robert Klenck summarizes it in his report on

“The 21st Century Church”

“… in this movement, it is imperative that unbelievers are brought into the church; otherwise, the process of continual change cannot begin. There must be an antithesis (unbelievers) present to oppose the thesis (believers), in order to move towards consensus (compromise), and move the believers away from their moral absolutism (resistance to change). If all members of the church stand firm on the Word of God, and its final authority in all doctrine and tradition, then the church cannot and will not change. This is common faith.”

How An Iranian War Might Lead To WW3
Sep 1st, 2008
Prophecy News Watch Sept. 11 2008

One Analysts worst Case Scenario

I have served as a consultant to three very high tech aerospace firms. My specialty is conceptualizing advanced warfare especially as it relates to new cutting edge advanced weapon systems. What I see unfolding with a war on Iran is the most frightening set of circumstances I have ever seen; and I have been involved in advanced theoretical weaponry strategy and design for over 20 years.

Sometime in the weeks to months ahead, there will be a war launched against Iran. The war may be started by Israel, or by the United States, or by a NATO/EU/US embargo, or by some 'false flag' attack. What matters is that it will begin; and where it will take the world.

Regardless if the war begins with a limited number of air strikes against Iranian military and nuclear targets, or if an all-out several thousand target attack begins from day one, the probabilities of the war becoming a major regional war within 48 hours are 90% or higher.

The Iranians will simply not allow Israeli and/or American military forces to attack its territory without a major response. Any significant counter-attack on Israel and/or American regional bases will trigger a much greater counter-response.

The Iranians have equipped, paid for, and trained a massive unguided rocket and guided missile force in Lebanon (the largest such force in human history). These missiles are in place as a MAD force (a MAD ~ mutually assured destruction ~ force is one that is a doomsday force; established to prevent the use of overwhelming military force by allowing a return "punch" of overwhelming military destructive force upon one's enemy). The total number of missiles and rockets in Lebanon are variously estimated at between 40,000 and 110,000. While many are unguided Katyusha rockets, many are longer ranged guided missiles. All are operated by Hezbollah Special Forces launch teams.

The Hezbollah Special Forces are in effect a highly trained and well-equipped Iranian commando force of at least a Brigade in size. They man and protect a large number of mostly unguided and rather crude rockets, generally Katyusha 122mm artillery rockets with a 19 mile/30km range and capable of delivering approximately 66 pounds/30kg of warheads. Additionally, Hezbollah are known to possess a considerable number of more advanced and longer range missiles. During the 2006 war Hezbollah fired approximately 4,000 rockets (95% of which were Katyushas) all utilizing only "dumb" high explosive warheads. Some Iranian-built and supplied Fajr-3 and Ra'ad 1 liquid-fueled missiles were also fired. It is believed that the larger and longer range missiles are directly under the control of Syrian and Iranian officers.

The combination of short to medium range rockets and guided missiles in Lebanon, and the longer range guided missiles in Syria, the smaller number of rockets and missiles in the West Bank and Gaza, and the longer range guided missiles in Iran present a massive throw weight of warheads aimed at Israel.

The 2006 Israeli-Hezbollah War (called the Second Lebanon War in Israel) was an attempt by Israel at eliminating the MAD counter-force in Lebanon. It was an attempt that failed. The Syrians had purchased (and supplied to Hezbollah) a large number of very nasty, relatively low cost Russian AT-14 Kornet solid fuel anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM), and the Iranian-trained Hezbollah commandos dug in massive numbers of concrete bunkers and firing positions. After over 50 Merkava main battle tanks were hit, and the high tech American-made warplanes and pinpoint weapons proved ineffective, the handwriting was on the wall. Either use neutron bombs or lose a large number of Israeli soldiers to remove the Hezbollah threat; or declare peace and walk away for the time being ~ the Israelis chose the latter.

It now appears that Israel has given up on the idea of a ground assault to remove the many rocket and missile launchers in Lebanon. A senior Israeli general has resigned with the complaint that the Army is not training sufficiently to fight in Lebanon. The alternative is the use of FAE (fuel air explosive) technology weapons and neutron bombs (a type of nuclear weapon that produces a higher short-term radiological output and less blast output than normal nuclear weapons).

Any use of such WMD by the Israeli Army on the Hezbollah forces in Lebanon will likely automatically trigger the use of WMD warheads on whatever rockets/missiles remain operational (if their use has not already been authorized due to the nature and scope of Israeli and/or American attacks on Iran).

The bottom line of this is that Israel will face a truly massive number of rockets and missiles from Lebanon with radiological, chemical, biological and FAE "weapons of mass destruction" warheads. Additionally, a sizable number of such weapons/warheads will be fired from Gaza and the West Bank. The Syrians will be using larger, more accurate guided missiles to shower WMD upon Israel as will the Iranians. To counter this, the Israelis will be using their Green Pine Radar system and a combination of Israeli and American anti-missile missiles. They will have good success in knocking down many incoming missiles but the sheer number of incoming weapons will totally overload all defensive measures.

Large parts of Israel will be contaminated with radiation with extremely long half-lives (many tens of thousands of years in some cases), with a mix of chemical, FAE, and biological nightmares thrown in for good measure. Total deaths will amount to one-third to one-half of the Israeli population with a large additional number being injured.

The Israeli response will be the nuclear annihilation of Syria, Iran, and parts of Lebanon with many tens of millions killed. Expect to see every city of any size destroyed. There will be insufficient people left in Syria, Iran, and large parts of Lebanon to even bury the dead. Radiation will spread around the world from the nuclear bombs.

Iranian sleeper teams in North America and western Europe will begin to "seed" the populations of these areas with a number (perhaps in the several dozens) of different man made killer viruses. People in movie theaters, churches, synagogues, shopping malls, subway stations, airports, etc., will be exposed without anyone knowing it at the time, to these advanced biowar viruses. About nine to ten days later the computer reporting systems in the western countries will begin to report back strange illnesses. That will trigger a host of measures to contain the advanced biowar viruses but it will simply be too late to prevent a massive outbreak of horrific illnesses. International travel and trade will effectively stop. People will be ordered to stay home from work and school with only critical job holders being allowed on the streets. Hospitals will be overcome with sick and dying people of all ages. The medical community will be among the first to die off. Where temporary hospitals are established in school gyms and other areas, the cross infection of several different genetically engineered viruses will ensure 100% mortality of everyone in the temporary hospitals.

In the event that other nations have sought to expand the Georgia war by new attacks on Russian forces or by creating some naval incident in the Black Sea, the probabilities of an quick expansion into a all-out Third World War involving Russian and NATO nuclear weapons will be at approximately 50%. Even without a global total war being initiated, Russia is apt to "sweep" the Black Sea of NATO ships with considerable loss of life on both sides.

The world will be in the worst economic depression in history as global trade will be halted for at least several months due to fears of the spread of the various advanced biowar viruses. If Israel releases the Arab-specific designer advanced biowar viruses that many claim she has, the Saudis are apt to fire their Chinese IRBMs (intermediate range ballistic missiles) and send their very well-equipped air force against Israel with the small number of nuclear weapons that they possess (they have funded the Pakistani nuclear weapons program and have several Pakistani made nuclear devices). Of course, what is left of the Israeli forces will respond with additional nuclear attacks, this time on Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations for good measure.

In North America and western Europe the total number of civilians, after two months of advanced biowar illnesses, is apt to be at least a third of the population - a total death count of well over 200 million persons. Despite the best efforts of all nations, the man-engineered super killer mutant viruses will spread throughout the world causing total numbers of perhaps a billion or more to die.

The after effect of all of this may well lead to even more war as some nations will be so incensed at the massive loss of life of their citizens that total global war may be unstoppable.

Editors Note...This article highlights the volatility and instability of the current world situation, a situation in which the endtime Biblical scenario could rapidly unfold.

Moral Decay in America is in High Gear
Sep 1st, 2008
Ron Graham

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away,” 2 Timothy 3:1-5. Paul lays out nineteen items here in his last letter to Timothy which exactly describeour society today. In the very first sentence he tells us that these things will all come to pass in the last days.

Our society’s decay is festering and accelerating at a phenomenal rate unlike any other time in the history of the U.S. It’s a simple, easily provable fact that should actually come as no surprise to those of us who study our Bibles since we have scripture verses like those which Paul wroteto Timothy.

“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution,” 2 Timothy 3:12. This, of course, is a verse none of us really want to see come to pass, but in all actuality itis coming to pass all over the globe. Even though the persecution of Christians has been ongoing for almost two-thousand years now, here in the U.S. it’s really just getting underway. Individually Christians have been persecuted in the U.S. for some time now and on occasion as a group. Currently, though, we see this persecution coming on the whole of Christendom in America. The reason for this is the decay of morals in our society. Moral decay didn’t just happen, but it is a symptom of a much larger problem. As a nation that was founded on God’s moral code of decency we’ve lost that foundation. Brothers and Sisters, we have watched as the liberal left has taken picks and shovels, broken the moral foundation, and thrown it away.People, we will not survive as a nation without our God given moral precepts. That’s a promise.

As decay enters into any object that’s perishable deteriorationis ever so slight at first, but over time the process escalates in its scope and becomes so invasive that the item infected with the decay needs to be thrown out with all the other garbage. A society that is in decay because of its lack of morals will eventually be completely overtaken by the decay process if not halted in time. People, there will come a time when our society will be too far gone in immorality and it will need to be purged – completely destroyed. Think about it, what nation has ever endured long life after turning its back on God?

The second law of thermodynamics is entropy. Entropy is a fact not a theory. It happens and it happens everywhere in the known universe. Basically, entropy means that everything left to its self sooner or later will fall apart. Without God in our lives and in our country our society will continue experiencing entropy but at a highly accelerated rate. Is there any turning back, can we reverse the process of decay in this country? No! At least not at our current rate of descent, but nothing is impossible for God. Oh yeah, we kicked God out of every vestige of our government arena, our public schools, and we can even see God being replaced in our Christian churches with a feel good gospel of indulgences and materialism.

We are in freefall mode here in this wonderful country of ours. I’m not the only one who sees this phenomenon happening;I read comments on the web which confirm my prognoses. These comments aren’t the ramblings of wacky conspiracy theorists but are the views of some of the most venerated theologians of our time who are speaking out about the decay of our morals and the inevitable fall of our once great society.

Let’s think about what’s happening currently here in this once great nation of ours. We can now see the production, promotion, and distribution of pornography in this country as a major economic player. There are literally billions of dollars being made off this perversion. Just fifty years ago who would have thought that the United States of America – the foremost country in the world in manufacturing and distribution, the greatest nation in terms of our humanitarian efforts and giving to faltering nations, and the number one nation in the world in terms of evangelism of the Christian Gospel – would now be almost completely consumed with the proliferation of pornography? If you think this immoral societal degradation isn’t a slap in the face of God, then you are part of the problem.

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, that stigma alone is responsible for much of the immorality we see in our society today. People are becoming so entwined with this perversion that their minds are being warped and diluted. Many no longer see a difference between right and wrong. I’m constantly confronted with the news of the immorality of teachers in our public school system and what they are doing to the young students whose very lives they have been entrusted with nurturing and teaching. has a huge and growing list of female teachers who have been arrested and some imprisoned for sexually abusing the students in their charge. Something that was unheard of twenty-five years ago is now so prevalent in our society that it has become common place. After one of these instances with a female teacher, I read on, where a professor of a University disparaged the authorities for arresting these female teachers. He actually argued that those women teachers who entertain their male and female student in this way are only providing a needed service a teaching lesson if you will. Condoning such sick and misguided behavior is only another sign of the decay that’s growing by leaps and bounds in our society today. By the way, most of these female teachers walk away with a slap on the wrist, while the male teachers who fall into this temptation are imprisoned for twenty years or more. Male or female the imprisonment should be the same. A child who is molested and abused is just as deeply scarred by women molesters as they are by male molesters. “He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but [he that is] perverse in his ways despiseth him,” Proverbs 14:2. This nation is becoming a despiser of God.

In my estimation, the real landslide of the decay of our society began years ago when we allowed the Bible to be taken out of our public schools. Soon after that we had the legalization of abortion and the teaching the lie of evolution as a fact not as a theory, even to the exclusion of any other possible scenario for life to have occurred on earth. Then, more recently, we’ve seen the teaching in our public schools of the abomination of homosexuality as being a fully acceptable and normal lifestyle. This teaching begins in kindergarten and in some instances pre-school. Also our students are being taught that the world’s religions are good and acceptable, all the while excluding Christianity.

The name “Jesus Christ” is becoming a bad word, which is nothing new to those who’ve used it for years as profanity, but to many it seems Jesus Christ is such a hateful name that they wish to see it eliminated from the world scene. Our Bibles are next on the list to be completely eliminated. Of course all believers know that this will be impossible. Why? “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away,” Matthew 24:35. Impossible task? Absolutely! I’ve recently read that Colorado and Minnesota are looking into condemning the Bible as hate speech, something that has already come to pass in our sister country to the North.

There are those who will continue to try to eliminate Gods word and any vestiges of His “antiquated morals” from society. They have gotten their way for a long time now and it’s time Christians began to stand up for God’s truth.

Now these evil and perverse promoters of filth are going after our children. It’s not just teachers but the pornographers are after them also. Our children are now being exploited on film as well as on the street. Child pornography and prostitution are running rampant right here in this once beautiful and loving country of ours. Yes, these two evils are still illegal but for how long? In America, as well as other countries, there is a movement underway which is promoted by “NAMBLA”, the North American Man Boy Love Association. Their agenda is to eliminate the societal norm and legality of age requirements for their sexual pleasure.

Laws of the land that were voted into existence by the majority of the electorate are now being dismissed as unconstitutional by little evil men in long flowing black robes who have their own agendas. Doesn’t it conjure up visions in your mind of those dark minions belonging to the satanic realm? It’s like a Hollywood movie that has come horribly to life.

“Alas, sinful nation, A people laden with iniquity, A brood of evildoers, Children who are corrupters, They have forsaken the LORD, They have provoked to anger The Holy One of Israel, They have turned away backward.” Isaiah 1:4 God can do wonders with His people, but His people must turn back to Him first. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 We born again believers in Christ are His people, we must humble ourselves and pray and seek His face, we His people must turn from our wicked ways for God to heel the land.

God shield us from what’s coming.

The coming invasion of Israel
Sep 1st, 2008
Art Sadlier

Satan now has a kingdom in this world as we see in 2 Corinthians 4:4 and John 14:30. This kingdom of Satan is limited, in that it is subject to the permissive will of God. According to Isaiah 14:13-14 Satan desires to throw off these restraints and rule in place of God. Satan knows that Christ has promised to take the kingdom from him and rule this world in righteousness and peace. (Luke 1:32-33; Rev. 11:15). Satan knows three things that will be involved in God's plan:

  1. A redeemed Israel dwelling in the promised land.
  2. Christ coming to rule over Israel and the world from David’s throne in Jerusalem.
  3. A resulting termination of the prospect of Satan’s Kingdom.

Satan's goal therefore is:

  1. To drive Israel off the promised land
  2. To annihilate Israel.

Satan rationalizes that if he can do that, Christ cannot come and establish His kingdom and he will have defeated God. All down through history Satan has sought to annihilate Israel. Today that effort is what dominates the current world scene. Satan will make one final great attempt to destroy Israel, that attempt is recorded in Ezekiel 38-39. This attempt comes through an ALLIANCE of NATIONS and a GREAT ATTACK.

1..Who launches this attack? Russia is the one who launches and leads this attack, Ezekiel 38:2-3, without entering into a study, these verses refer to Russia. Russia will be the leader of a large alliance of mid-east nations. We learn the identity of those nations in verse 5-6. This alliance is made up of Persia (Iran), and a group of Arab nations that surround Israel.

Today Russia is working to form this very alliance with Iran, Syria, Turkey, Libya, Sudan and other Muslim nations in the vicinity of Israel. Since the invasion of Georgia, the mid-east nations that oppose Israel have come alive with new enthusiasm to destroy Israel. These nations now have a new champion against the West and Israel as the rift between Russia and the West grows.

It is possible that Psalm 83 refers to the present attacks on Israel. But Ezekiel 38-39 tells us about a massive all out attempt to utterly destroy Israel.

2...When will this attack take place?

In Ezekiel 38:8 we have the first clue, “in the latter years”, that is the present time. “The land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people”, this is the present time. “And is brought forth out of the nations,” this is Israel today. For 2,000 years Israel has been scattered among the nations, Israel has been a wasteland; the land has been under the sword of many conquerors. But now they have been regathered, that is true of no other time in history.

Further Evidence of the timing, “and they shall dwell safely all of them”.

  1. This is not the present time, it’s not today. Today missiles are flying, terror attacks are rampant and war is constantly on the horizon.
  2. This is not the second half of the tribulation period. The tribulation period will be a time of unprecedented war, terror and destruction, there will be no peace in those days.
  3. The only time Israel will experience peace is a brief period, very early tribulation period. Verse 11, describes this time of peace. This is the time immediately following the peace treaty of antichrist. Paul tells us that this peace will be for but a short period of time (1 Thessalonians 5:2-3). Therefore this attack on Israel will be very early in the tribulation period. (See also Ezekiel 39:9 N.B.- Remember that in the chronology of the kings of Israel any portion of a year that a king reigned was reckoned to be a year.)

The burning of the weapons will take 7 years and that will not overlap the Millennial kingdom, therefore this war must take place early in the tribulation.

The world is clamoring today for Israel to tear down the wall of protection they have built, (verse 11). No doubt after the peace treaty is signed they will take it down. The world has been seeking a peace treaty for 25 years, they haven’t found it, they won’t, and they can’t. The peace treaty will not be confirmed until antichrist comes on the scene to sign it. We conclude that the war of Ezekiel 38-39 will not take place until the church is raptured and the peace treaty is signed, but it will be very early in the tribulation. If this alliance is rapidly forming and the preparations for this war are well underway, then the trumpet is soon to sound!

3...The Invasion in Ezekiel 38:9, the peace treaty has been signed; Israel and the nations have disarmed; antichrist has pledged Israel’s security. The attack is massive and it is a surprise attack. Russia, with her former republic states, along with an unbelievable number of people from Muslim nations, descending on Israel to destroy Her. Iran has a million man army and a ten million man militia. Multiplied millions will come, verse 15. The west will be somehow neutralized, America will be out of the equation, perhaps the judgment of God will have fallen on America, in whatever form He chooses. Notice the response of the West in Ezekiel 38:13, their passive response is not unlike the response to the recent invasion of Georgia.

4...The Weapons described in Ezekiel 38:4 don’t sound like modern weapons, what is this all about? Remember, world-wide disarmament has taken place and this attack is dependant on massive numbers of men with makeshift weapons.

5...The Final Outcome today the stage is being set for that battle, described in verses 18 & 22. The Muslim world is preparing for a war of annihilation against Israel. Ahmahdinejad is calling for an alliance of Muslim nations to wage a war of annihilation against Israel. Listen to the words of the President of Iran: “The skirmishes in the occupied land are a part of a war of destiny. The outcome of hundreds of years of war will be defined on Palestinian land. As the Imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map”, and they are preparing to do it! He also said, “Israel is a tyrannical regime that will one day be destroyed”. He further stated, “Israel is a rotten, dried tree that will one day be annihilated in one storm.” Amazing that after 2,600 years Ezekiel’s very words are echoed by the President of Iran. Listen to Ezekiel 38:9, “Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm”, do you think the Spirit of God is trying to get our attention? Do you understand what is happening in our world? Let the words of Ahmadinejad explain it for you. “Anybody who recognizes Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nation’s fury.” That is an explanation of the terror the world is now facing. The Lord will intervene and destroy these nations, verses 18-22. Ezekiel 39:2 tells that 5 out of every 6 men in this army will die. As the battle ends, Russia is totally neutralized and Islam is eliminated as force in world affairs; apparently America has already been eliminated. At that point antichrist will be the only one left standing and the oil of the mid-east will be his. He can then proceed to expand his kingdom

On November 20, 2007, Hamas stated in a letter to the UN, “Palestine is Arab Islamic land, from the river to the sea, including Jerusalem; there is no room for the Jews”. As we see the frantic preparations being made to obliterate Israel and the coming together of this alliance, we know that the Trumpet is soon to sound! Are you ready?

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” Luke 21:28

The shadows of these events are being cast on the walls of our news media, the day is far spent, and the time is at hand.

The emergent Church promotes lifestyle rather than faith
Sep 1st, 2008
Art Sadlier

A Christian broadcaster claims that Emerging church leader Brian McLaren is fulfilling the biblical prophecy that in the latter days men will not put up with sound doctrine, according to 2 Tim. 4:3.

Brian McLaren recently addressed 650 Anglican bishops attending the Lambeth Conference, a meeting he says was characterized by “a loving atmosphere” and “a deep spirituality centred in bible study, worship, and prayer.” McLaren tells that he envisions a new era for Christianity, which “is more about the Christian way of life than it is about a rigid and polemicized systems of belief.”

Tom Mahon, president of The Berean Call ministry, says McLaren is obviously ashamed of the biblical gospel and is bent upon making it accommodate his own ideas about Christianity and “the Christian way of life”.

“Once you throw off biblical doctrine, what do you have to guide you? This is to me a reflection of what Satan did to Eve in the Garden, this is Gen. 3:1, “Yea hath God said?” In other words, if you undermine what God had said, then what have got?” he questions. : Well, you’ve got Proverbs 14:12, “There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death,’

The Shameful Social Gospel
Sep 1st, 2008
T. A. McMahon

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth." Romans 1:16

For various reasons, Christians of different sorts have tinkered with "the gospel of Christ" as though it needed adjustments. Not major alterations, most will tell you, but just some minor tweaking here and there. The changes often begin by one's declaring that there is no real change involved, simply a shift in emphasis. Yet, no matter what the rationale may be, the end result is being "ashamed of the gospel of Christ."

To be "ashamed of the gospel" covers a number of attitudes from being totally embarrassed by it to thinking one can improve upon it a bit to make it more acceptable. One example of the former is the recent claim by an Emerging Church author that the teaching regarding Christ's paying the full penalty for the sins of mankind through His substitutionary death on the Cross is irrelevant and viewed as "a form of cosmic child abuse." More subtle examples include trying to make the gospel seem less exclusive, and the "softening" of the consequences from which the gospel saves mankind, such as the wrath of God and the Lake of Fire.

Prevalent among many religious leaders who profess to be evangelical Christians (i.e., Bible-believing Christians) is the promotion of a gospel that is acceptable to, and even admired by, people throughout the world. Today, the most popular form of this is the social gospel.

Although the social gospel is common to many new movements among evangelicals, it is not new to Christendom. It had its modern beginning in the late 1800s, when it developed as a way to address the various conditions in society that caused suffering among the populace. The belief was, and is, that Christianity will attract followers when it demonstrates its love for mankind. This could be best accomplished by helping to alleviate the suffering of humanity caused by poverty, disease, oppressive work conditions, society's injustices, civil rights abuses, etc. Those who fostered this movement also believed that relief from their conditions of misery would improve the moral nature of those so deprived.

Another driving force behind the introduction of the social gospel was the eschatological, or end times, views of those involved. Nearly all were amillennialists or post-millennialists. The former believed that they were living in a (symbolic thousand-year) time period in which Christ was ruling from heaven, Satan was bound, and they were God's workers appointed to bring about a kingdom on earth worthy of Christ. Post-millennialists also believed they were in the Millennium, and their goal was to restore the earth to its Eden-like state in order for Christ to return from Heaven to rule over His earthly kingdom.

The social gospel, in all of its assorted applications, helped to produce some achievements (child labor laws and women's suffrage) that have contributed to the welfare of society. It became the primary gospel of liberal theologians and mainline denominations throughout the 20th century. Although its popularity alternately rose and fell as it ran its course, it was often energized by the combination of religion and liberal politics, e.g., Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights movement. Midway through the last century and later, the social gospel influenced developments such as the liberation theology of Roman Catholicism and the socialism of left-leaning evangelical Christians. It is in this present century, however, that the social gospel has gotten its most extensive promotion. Two men, both professing to be evangelicals, have led the way.

George W. Bush began his presidency by instituting the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. His objective was to provide government funding for local churches, synagogues, mosques, and other religious ministries that were providing a social service to their community. Bush believed that programs run by "people of faith" could be at least as effective as secular organizations in helping the needy, and perhaps more so because of their moral commitment to "love and serve their neighbor." As he prepares to leave office, he has declared that he considers his Faith-Based program to be one of the foremost achievements in his tenure as president. Presidential candidate Barack Obama stated that, should he win the election, he will continue the Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.

Rick Warren, the mega-selling author of The Purpose-Driven Church and The Purpose-Driven Life, has taken the social gospel to where it's never been before: not only worldwide but into the thinking and planning of world leaders. Warren credits business management genius Peter Drucker with the basic concept that he is executing. Drucker believed that the social problems of poverty, disease, hunger, and ignorance were beyond the capability of governments or multinational corporations to solve. To Drucker, the most hopeful solution would be found in the nonprofit sector of society, especially churches, with their hosts of volunteers dedicated to alleviating the social ills of those in their community.

Warren, acknowledging the late Drucker as his mentor for 20 years, certainly learned his lessons. His two Purpose-Driven books, translated into 57 languages and selling a combined 30 million copies, reveal the game plan for what Drucker had envisioned. Warren had local churches implement this vision from his books through his enormously popular 40 Days of Purpose and 40 Days of Community programs. To date, 500,000 churches in 162 nations have become part of his network. They form the basis for his Global P.E.A.C.E. Plan.

What is his P.E.A.C.E. plan? Warren's presentation of the plan to the church is found at On video, he identifies the "giants" of humanity's ills as spiritual emptiness, self-centered leadership, poverty, disease, and illiteracy, which he hopes to eradicate by (P)lanting churches, (E)quipping leaders, (A)ssisting the poor, (C)aring for the sick, and (E)ducating the next generation.

Warren uses the analogy of a three-legged stool to illustrate the best way to slay these giants. Two of the legs are governments and business, which have thus far been ineffective, and, just like a two-legged stool, cannot stand. The third very necessary leg is the church. "There are thousands of villages in the world that have no school, no clinic, no business, no government--but they have a church. What would happen if we could mobilize churches to address those five global giants?" Warren reasons that since there are 2.3 billion Christians worldwide, they could potentially form what President Bush has termed a vast "army of compassion" of "people of faith" such as the world has not yet experienced.

In addition to the Christian version, Warren has an expanded inclusive version of the P.E.A.C.E. plan that has drawn support and praise from political and religious leaders and celebrities worldwide. At the 2008 World Economic Forum, he declared, "The future of the world is not secularism, but religious pluralism...." Referring to the ills besetting the world, he declared, "We cannot solve these problems without involving people of faith and their religious institutions. It isn't going to happen any other way. On this planet there are about 20 million Jews, there are about 600 million Buddhists, there are about 800 million Hindus, there are over 1 billion Muslims, and there are 2.3 billion Christians. If you take people of faith out of the equation, you have ruled out five-sixths of the world. And if we only leave it up to secular people to solve these major problems, it isn't going to happen" ( ).

To accommodate working with people of all faiths Warren has revised the "P" in his P.E.A.C.E. from "planting evangelical churches" to "(P)romoting reconciliation" and the "E" from "equipping [church] leaders" to "(E)quipping ethical leaders." Warren has elsewhere acknowledged his practical shift to pluralism: "Who's the man of peace in any village--or it might be a woman of peace--who has the most respect?...They don't have to be Christian. In fact, they could be Muslim, but they're open and they're influential, and you work with them to attack the five giants [to which he has added global warming]." He quotes a secular leader who affirms what he's doing: "I get it, Rick. Houses of worship are the distribution centers for all we need to do."

Warren has joined the advisory board of Faith Foundation, established by former British prime minister and recent Roman Catholic convert Tony Blair. The Foundation's goal is to further understanding and cooperation among the six leading faiths: Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, and Jewish. How does the Cross fit into this ecumenical gathering? It doesn't. Critical to achieving that ecumenical goal is the elimination of the problem of exclusive religions, a concern articulated by one of the World Economic Forum panelists: "There are some religious leaders in different religious faiths who, in seeking to affirm their own faith and its authenticity and legitimacy...deny other people their faith with its legitimacy and authenticity. I don't think we can keep going like this without...spawning the kind of hatred we are all here to try and solve. I think it's up to us to hold the clergy's feet to the fire of whatever faith. That we insist that we affirm what is beautiful in our own traditions while at the same time refusing to denigrate other faith traditions by suggesting that they are illegitimate, or consigned to some kind of evil end."

The Bible declares all the religions of the world to be "illegitimate" and "consigned" not to "some kind of evil end" but to their just end. Only belief in the biblical gospel saves humanity: "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name [Jesus Christ] under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved;...He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (Acts 4:12; John 3:36).

The history of the social gospel is, in nearly every case, a sincere attempt by Christians to do those things that they believe will honor God and benefit humanity. In every case, however, the practical working out of "benefiting humanity" has compromised biblical faith and dishonored God. Why is that? God's Word gives no commission to the church to fix the problems of the world. Those who attempt to do so are starting out under a false premise, "...a way which seemeth right unto a man," not God's way. So where can it go from there? "The end thereof are the ways of death," i.e., destruction (Proverbs 14:12). Furthermore, the problems of the world are all symptoms. The root cause is sin.

What percentage of the "people of faith," who comprise all religions and make up five-sixths of the world's population, understand and accept the gospel--the only cure for sin? Or how many of the 2.3 billion "Christians" in the world believe the biblical gospel? The numbers tumble down exponentially. "Yes, but...they are a massive volunteer force and distribution outlet of resources for slaying the giants of world suffering!" What does it profit the billions of "people of faith" who may alleviate some of the world's symptoms yet lose their very souls?

The social gospel is a deadly disease for "people of faith." It reinforces the belief that salvation can be attained by doing good works, putting aside differences for the common good, treating others the way we want to be treated, acting morally, ethically, and sacrificially--and that doing so will endear humans to God. No. These are self-deceptive strivings that spurn God's salvation, deny His perfect standard, and reject His perfect justice. Salvation is "not of works, lest any man should boast." In fact, it is "by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8-9). Jesus declared Himself to be condemned humanity's only hope for reconciliation with God: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6). There is no other way, because God's perfect justice demanded that the penalty for sin for every human ("for all have sinned"-Romans 3:23) be paid. Only the perfect, sinless God-Man could and did pay that infinite penalty in full by His death upon the Cross. Only faith in Him reconciles a person with God.

The shameful social gospel today not only promotes "another gospel," it helps prepare a kingdom contrary to the teachings of Scripture. "For our conversation [citizenship] is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ" (Philippians 3:20). He will return from heaven (John 14:3) to "rapture," or catch, those who believe in Him (His bride) up into the clouds and take them to heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:17). The kingdom that remains on the earth will be the kingdom of the Antichrist.

Consistent with its amillennial/postmillennial beginnings, the efforts of the social gospel are earthbound in their attempted restoration of the kingdom of God. Eugene Peterson has infiltrated that heresy into his Message Bible: "God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again" (a perversion of John 3:17).

Rob Bell, in his book Velvet Elvis, reflects the "fix the earth" eschatology of nearly all Emerging Church leaders: "Salvation is the entire universe being brought back into harmony with its maker. This has huge implications for how people present the message of Jesus. Yes, Jesus can come into our hearts. But we can join a movement that is as wide and as big as the universe itself. Rocks and trees and birds and swamps and ecosystems. God's desire is to restore all of it....The goal isn't escaping this world but making this world the kind of place God can come to. And God is remaking us into the kind of people who can do this kind of work."

For Emerging Church leader Brian McLaren, this is the future way of life for the Christian. In an interview July 28, 2008, on, he said: "I think our future will also require us to join humbly and charitably with people of other faiths--Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, secularists, and others--in pursuit of peace, environmental stewardship, and justice for all people, things that matter greatly to the heart of God." No, what matters to the "heart of God" is "that all should come to repentance" and believe the gospel.

Anyone who puts his hope in this social gospel, which employs "people of faith" to make "this world the kind of place God can come to," needs to heed the words of Jesus in Luke 18:8: "When the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" People of all faiths, yes, but certainly not "the faith," for which Jude exhorts true believers to earnestly contend. Lord, help us all not to be ashamed of Your gospel! TBC

The Third Temple
Sep 1st, 2008
Art Sadlier

Today in the midst of Arab opposition and determination to destroy Israel, the Jewish interest in building the temple continues to grow. One of the recent developments that are feeding this desire is the reestablishment of the Sanhedrin. This body of 71 men met for the first time, in the place where the Sanhedrin last met 1600 years ago, Tiberius, in October of 2004. They now meet weekly in Jerusalem in order to issue rulings on matters related to Israeli Judaism. Their goal is to eventually become the governing body for modern Israel.

Arnold Fruchtenbaum, a Hebrew Christian scholar has noted the following:

The significance of Israel's reinstituting the Sanhedrin may be another event that leaves in place the possibility of how the Lord will work out His will with His people. Almost sixty years after a 1900 year absence, the nation of Israel came into existence. Jewish people from the four corners of the world have made aliyah to live in the Land. The Temple Institute in Jerusalem has reconstructed the instruments for Jewish Temple worship; Jewish men determined to be descendants of Aaron, known as the Kohanim, are being trained in ritual practices to serve as Temple priests; and now we have the establishment of an authoritative body to speak to the nation of Israel on matters of Jewish religion.

It is important to note that as a result of the June 2005 meeting of the Sanhedrin, they have issued a call for specific plans to rebuild the Temple. The Israeli rabbinical council involved with re-establishing the Sanhedrin, is calling upon all groups involved in Temple Mount research to prepare detailed architectural plans for the reconstruction of the Jewish Holy Temple. This demonstrates that increasingly the new Sanhedrin believes that it is taking steps to prepare the modern state of Israel for a new Temple and the coming of Messiah. These stage-setting steps are things that are in concert with the end time events that will take place during a future era known as the tribulation.

In order to specifically carry out the Sanhedrin's call to prepare architectural plans for rebuilding the Temple, the group will establish a forum of architects and engineers to begin plans for rebuilding the Temple - a move fraught with religious and political volatility. The Sanhedrin is also calling on the Jewish people to contribute toward the acquisition of materials for the purpose of rebuilding the Temple including the gathering and preparation of prefabricated, disassembled portions to be stored and ready for rapid assembly, in the manner of King David.

I would add two comments:

  1. These are stage setting events which will not unfold until after the Church is removed from the earth.
  2. Unknown to Israel, this third temple will be a Temple for Antichrist. See 2 Thess. 2:4

The Undoing of Faith
Sep 1st, 2008
Roger Oakland

My goal is to destroy Christianity as a world religion and be a catalyst for the movement of Jesus Christ….Some people are upset with me because it sounds like I’m anti-Christian. I think they might be right. - Emergent church leader, Erwin McManus.

While preparing to write this book, a fellow apologist asked me if I would also discuss the good side of the emerging church in my book. Surely, there are some fruitful works coming out of this movement, a movement that has at least some sincere and truth seeking people within its confines. And while I would agree there are some sincere people in the movement, I have had to examine whether the good that might be found outweighs the harmful, and if it doesn’t, then does the harmful negate the good?

I would liken it to this: While the Mormon church teachings have some good advice (devotion to families, obeying the Ten Commandments, etc.), I could never recommend this group because most of its teachings are contrary to biblical Christianity. Can you imagine if your Sunday school teacher said, “Today, we are going to study from the book of Mormon”? The teacher then says, “While we may not agree with everything, let’s not throw out the baby with the bath water. Let’s glean the good.”

I believe this scenario fits for the emerging church too. The fruits of the emerging church include creating hostility towards Bible-believing Christians, no longer identifying with Christianity altogether, and restructuring missions and evangelism so that converts can remain in their own religion (just add a Christ-figure). Once the emerging church has accomplished these things, there truly will be nothing left of the Christian faith.

Emerging church leader, Erwin McManus, says his “goal is to destroy Christianity as a world religion and be a recatalyst for the movement of Jesus Christ.” He says the greatest enemy to the movement of Jesus Christ is Christianity (i.e, Christians). Just what does McManus mean by these statements? He would say that we do not need to identify with Christianity as a religion, but we can still identify with Jesus.

The term – follower of Jesus ( or Christ-follower) – is used frequently within the scope of those promoting emerging spirituality.

This attitude to “destroy Christianity” but become Christ-followers is seeping through several venues. Book tittles for example, express this growing anti-Christian sentiment. One book, “Why one can be a Christian or a Christ-Follower (But Not Both) by Floyd Henderson, is a case in point.

The idea behind being a Christ-follower as opposed to a Christian can be seen in the spiritual formation movement (ie, contemplative prayer movement). That is, if you want to be like Christ, then practice certain disciplines and you can be like Him.

The one common thread woven throughout spiritual formation teachings is that silence (induced through mantra meditation) and being a Christ-follower are practically synonymous. You can’t have one without the other. But being born again, receiving Christ as your Savior, Lord, and Master is not a pre-requisite to being a Christ-follower. Richard Foster teaches that anyone, not just believers, can practice these spiritual disciplines and become like Christ.

The reason meditation has to play such an important role in the emerging church is because without the true Gospel message being preached (faith comes by hearing the Word), so many within the movement do not have the indwelling Christ, but they sincerely long to be like Him and to feel His presence. Thus the energy to do that has to come from somewhere. Meditation appears to be that answer. However, mantra meditation does not conjure up the presence of God, but rather demonic entities that deceptively look like Christ at first. So these emerging Christ-followers are learning to be like Christ but many may not ever have received Him as Lord and Savior and thus don’t have Him living inside them.

So anyone at all, from any walk of life, from any religion, can be a Christ-follower. They may come to believe they have a Christ-consciousness and are Christ-like, yet they do not have the actual power of Christ within, that can only come from the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. The bible is clear where the true power of God comes from.

Waves of change
Sep 1st, 2008
Art Sadlier

Since New Evangelicalism was born in 1948 we have witnessed a transition from the church of Philadelphia (fundamentalism) to Laodicea (compromising evangelicalism).

From that time on we have seen waves of change sweep over the Evangelical Church.

FIRST we were introduced to ecumenical evangelism by Billy Graham. The watch word became “infiltration” rather than “separation” from apostasy, however infiltration is a two way street.

SECOND we were introduced to social action, an attempt to change society from without rather than from within, by the power of the gospel to transform lives. All of the social evils were attacked with gusto; the church lost every single battle. The moral majority was the climax of this failure.

THIRD we were introduced to a new way to fill our churches, the church growth movement which evolved into the User Friendly Movement. Change every thing about the church that makes the Church look like the Church. Bring the world’s music and the world’s methods into the church, instead of the church winning over the world the world won over the church. Instead of lives being transformed, the church was corrupted with the world.

FOURTH we were introduced to the Purpose Driven Movement, this was a logical progression. Now the church enters into union with the world to change the world by social action. Rick Warren has moved to enlist one billion religious people to make a utopia out of the kingdoms of this world. John said, “If any man love the world the love of the Father is not in him’.

At this moment we are seeing, what I believe is the FINAL wave, the Emergent Church. This is a bold move to transform the church into the Apostate Church, the Harlot Church of Revelation 17. To finally remove any semblance of what the church is to believe and what is to be and do.

Paul foretold these things, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;” 2 Tim. 4:3. “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith,” 1 Timothy 4:1.

This whole process has been immersed in deception from the start, as Jesus said it would be in Matthew 24; 4, 5, 11, 24, 25.

We live in days comparable to the days of Jeremiah, when Israel was being deceived and facing the Day of the Lord judgment. Jeremiah said, ”A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; the prophets prophecy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means (own ideas); and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?” Jeremiah 5:30-31. The words of Jesus should be ringing in our ears, “Come out from among them”.

Will Government Bailouts Spell End of Dollar?
Sep 1st, 2008
Craig R. Smith

We have seen, in the dead of night, three major government bailouts in the last year, none of which had more than a few days' positive effect on the markets. Each was done by powerful men in powerful places in the wee, small hours. At the end of the next day, a few were made rich while the many were handed the bill.

First there was Bear Stearns. Then IndyMac bank. Fannie and Freddie followed rapidly. All engineered on Sundays while the markets were closed.

How many more bailouts have to occur before someone asks the questions no one wants to ask? Is this a systemic problem and where does it end?

It is no surprise to those of us who warned about the drunken credit binge on Wall Street that the day of reckoning would come. What we never anticipated was the reward in store for the gluttons who caused the damage.

Bear Stearns was sold to JPMorgan on March 17; billions of equity was transferred to the balance sheet of one of the top five banks in America while the liabilities were guaranteed by the government (a.k.a. the taxpayers). Through the use of very complicated devices the government moved to save the system. The executives of Bear walked away with bonuses and severance packages. Disaster temporarily averted.

On July 11, IndyMac was taken over by the government due to a "run on the bank" which depleted deposits literally overnight. With $100 million leaving each day, the feds had no option other than to shut the doors. The $52 billion FDIC rescue fund was tapped for $4 billion-$8 billion to pay off depositors and 4,000 employees lost their jobs overnight as IndyMac became runnerup to the largest bank collapse in history (Continental Bank in 1984). Net result: The banking system is saved for the time being.

Fannie and Freddie were seized by regulators Sunday after weeks of speculation that both were suffering losses far beyond their ability to cover. Voices like Bill Gross from PIMCO, with $800 billion in bonds, made clear their intention to stop buying bonds unless the Treasury acted to provide an implicit guarantee for all Fannie and Freddie obligations.

By Monday morning, Gross and his firm are $8 billion richer and the American taxpayers take on potentially $200 billion-$700 billion in losses. I guess the slogan "E pluribus unum" took on a whole new meaning as 300 million of us (the many) united, involuntarily, to give PIMCO (the one) a whole lot of money.

This is not unusual. The market rallied 300 points only to give it back the next day. But Fannie and Freddie did not fail – in the technical sense.

Is the system broken? And if so, who benefits as a result? Did Paulson and Gross identify a weakness and capitalize on it?

If the problems we are now witnessing are systemic and can potentially develop into a far worse crisis than anyone expected, what level of loss should the public be responsible for? Should we the people be on the hook for an unlimited amount of liability while not participating in any of the reward? At its face that seems very unfair, but as I was told at an early age, life is not always fair.

There is an even bigger question in all of this. How many commercial banks, investment banks and mortgage guarantors can the government take over before we as a country are forced to create money to meet all the obligations represented by these takeovers? It is not as if the government has surpluses from which to draw all the needed capital to meet these obligations. We will have to borrow or print it.

What if General Motors, Ford and Boeing need to be bailed out? What about airlines, drug companies, insurance companies ... shall I go on? We cannot and should not adopt a bailout mentality without first considering the long-term ramifications for the country as a whole.

Currently we are running about a $500 billion dollar annual budget deficit. This will be added to the national debt which currently stands at $9.6 trillion. Will we just run the national debt to $15 trillion, $20 trillion? And that doesn't even take into account the off-budget debt, reflected in future Medicare and Social Security obligations, which now exceeds $50 trillion. At what point will the U.S. dollar have any value if we can never pay any of it back?

The U.S. dollar has always been the currency the world turns to when there is trouble. The dollar has always represented safety, but can it maintain that trust if we just continue to print, borrow and move dollars around from balance sheet to balance sheet ad infinitum?

I have asked a number of questions so at this point it is appropriate to offer some answers.

We cannot continue employing the broken business model our current financial system represents. It doesn't work. We cannot leverage, inflate and deflate forever. There comes a day of reckoning when people will not tolerate the abuse of a system to enrich a few while decimating many.

I see vulnerability in America that must be addressed and time is of the essence.

For the first time in the post-World War II era, the American dollar is susceptible to competition from a currency based in an identifiable and universally accepted value. A currency that cannot be created out of thin air. Is such a currency available? Not yet. But you know the old saying, "Necessity is the mother of invention."

Right now the world has three very strong and prosperous countries competing on the world stage with huge amounts of capital, natural resources and gold that could easily, if they so chose, create a currency much like Europe did in the euro. But this time it could be backed with oil and gold.

Russia, China and the Arab nations are sitting on an enormous amount of oil, gold and U.S. dollars. What if those nations forged agreements (much like NATO, WTO, etc.) and offered an "ARC" dollar fully backed by gold or oil? (The holder of the currency could actually exchange the currency for a specified amount of gold or oil.)

A note is a promise to pay. For years in America a Federal Reserve Note (currency) was a promise to pay gold and silver at the Treasury. Today it is a note to pay debt. Debt that is exploding and can apparently be wiped away by the Fed overnight or, worse yet, transferred to the backs of American workers in the form of tax on future labor. But what if a group of nations offered a currency that had no recurring liability attached to it but actual "money" in the form of the ultimate currency (gold) or the ultimate natural resource (oil)?

In the past I would have viewed such a prospect as preposterous. Today it may well become a reality. Currently talks are under way with the Gulf Monetary Authority for just such a system.

If we think the government is capable of bailing everything and everyone out of every financial mess that may occur then we are fools. And perhaps we are being viewed as such by very hostile nations that would welcome the deterioration of our position on the world stage and would not flinch at our total demise.

In short, we have fattened our hearts in the day of slaughter and now is the time to acknowledge and accept that each of us is solely responsible for our own future. Not the government. The time of discussing the problems has come and gone. Now is the time to devise a plan and put it into action.

With gold and silver trading at levels 10 percent below stupid, it is time to put 10-20 percent of total assets into tangibles. Understand that the only answer to avoiding a meltdown is either a new currency or runaway inflation. To quote Harry Shultz, "If Bush bails them all out, the die will be cast for inflation unseen in the West since 1923 Germany. If no bail:1929. Gold helps you out either way."

You can either ignore the obvious or act upon it.

Ignorance is produced in ignoring the facts. It makes one ignorant. Acting upon the facts makes one wise, which is wisdom. This will be a time when many will prefer to deny what they see around them and hope against hope that the system will fix itself.

The best analogy I can give is a person (the system) having a massive heart attack, a heart attack resulting from years of abuse of the victim's own body. He is rushed to the hospital where the doctors (the Fed) work feverishly to save his life. They are successful and the patient lives. The doctors then sit the patient down and explain that while they saved his life, without major lifestyle changes the patient will have another heart attack and die. He must immediately stop smoking, eliminate fatty foods and exercise daily. The patient refuses.

Thus is our system. This is not the first crisis. It will not be the last. The system is not willing to do what is necessary to get better. - (From World Net Daily)

Editors Note.... The Judgment of God is bearing down on America from many different angels, but America is blind to it all, just like Israel in Jeremiah's day when the Judgment of God fell and carried Israel away. Jeremiah said, "The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved." Jer. 8:20 I am also reminded of the words of Joel, "Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand;" Joel 2:1
