Lot was the son of Abraham's dead brother, Haran. He had probably succeeded to his father's inheritance. He may have come with his uncle across the desert in the secret hope of bettering his condition; but we will hope that he was prompted by worthier motives. He seems to have been one of those men who take right steps, not because they are prompted by obedience to God, but because their friends are taking them. Around him was the inspiration of an heroic faith, the fascination of the untried and unknown; the stir of a great religious movement: and Lot was swept into the current, and resolved to go too. He was the Pliable of the earliest Pilgrim's Progress. He may have thought that he was as much in earnest as Abraham; may have thought that he was as much in earnest as Abraham; but it was a great mistake. He was simply an echo; a dim afterglow; a chip on the bosom of a mighty current.

In every great religious movement there always have been, and always will be a number of individuals who cast in their lot with it, without knowing the power which inspires it. Beware of them. They cannot stand the stress of the life of separation to God. The mere excitement will soon die away from them; and, having no principle to take its place, they will become hindrances and disturbers of the peace. As certainly as they are harbored in the camp, or their principles are allowed within the heart, they will lower the spiritual tone; allure to worldly policy; suggest methods which would not otherwise occur to us; and draw us towards the Egypt-world.

Nothing but supreme principle can carry any one through the real, separated, and surrendered life of the child of God. If you are prompted by anything less, such as excitement, enthusiasm, fashion, contagious example -- you will first be a hindrance, and end by being a failure. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith. Prove your own selves. And, if you are consciously acting from a low and selfish motive, ask God to breathe into you His own pure love. Better act from an inferior motive, if only it be in the right direction; but covet earnestly the best. -

Iran could fire missiles at Israel like the ones it sent flying at Saudi Arabia last week, IDF Military Intelligence’s Research Division head Brig. Gen. Dror Shalom told Israel Hayom in a special Rosh Hashanah interview.

According to Shalom, the military’s working assumption is that Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, commander of Iran’s elite Quds Force, would be the one to oversee a missile attack of that type, which Shalom said could be launched from Iraqi territory.

“In the end, when he [Soleimani] takes a hit to the nose, he wants to hit back, and he has taken some blows recently. So my working assumption is that it’s only a matter of time until he tries,” said Shalom.

Such an attempt could involve not only missiles but also long-range drones.

“It could be in the form of a surface-to-surface missile, cruise missiles, or long-range UAVs [Unmanned Aerial Vehicles]. He has UAVs that can fly 1,000-1,200 kilometers, which he has used in the Persian Gulf,” said Shalom.

He expressed major concern about the progress Iran is making with its nuclear program, saying Military Intelligence might be forced to divert resources to address the issue.

“I’m a lot less easy today. We’ve gotten into a gray area … which requires us to be a lot more sensitive. Will we know [about an attack]? The Iranians are a very sophisticated enemy, and it bothers me,” he said.

According to Shalom, the chance of a major escalation between Israel and Iran is higher now than in the past.

“We’re living in a much more complicated reality, which is only getting worse. We are starting to approach the level of war,” he warned.

Shalom also said the same volatility existed on Israel’s other fronts, although Iran remained the biggest threat.

“We’re in a dangerous round with Iran, and we need to keep a strong grip on the wheel,” he said. However, he added, Israel has room to maneuver, although that room should be used “with great caution.”

He also thinks that if Israel adheres to a tough policy on Hezbollah’s precision-guided missile project, the organization might give it up, even though it would come at the price of battles against Hezbollah.

Shalom characterized Hezbollah’s missiles as a “serious strategic threat,” but stressed that Hezbollah does not currently have precision missiles in Lebanon.

One by one, various climate hoaxes continue to be exposed as the fake news they’ve always been, including the above photo of what appears to be sled dogs running across a patch of melted glacier in Greenland.

The below photo, which has been heavily circulating recently as “evidence” that global warming is melting the polar ice caps, is a certifiable fraud. It was taken in 1984, and it depicts the same area of melted sea water that occurs in this particular region of Greenland every single summer.

There’s nothing at all unusual about this area of Greenland turning from ice to water annually whenever the temperatures naturally warm as a result of seasonal changes. But to climate lunatics everywhere, it somehow “proves” that man-made global warming is real, requiring more climate taxes and laws restricting how much meat people are allowed to eat.

According to the official doctrines of climate change, the changing of the seasons is now considered to be “scientific evidence” that people are driving too many SUVs and unnecessarily allowing their cows to fart – and the world is going to end in 12 years as a result.

It’s complete insanity, and the type of thing that, even just 10 years ago, would have originated on a satire site. But in 2019, climate confusion and global warming derangement have become the norm among gullible leftists who would seem to believe everything they’re told by the mainstream media.

“The mainstream media used to be a source of news, but it has increasingly become a tool of manipulation,” writes Onar Åm for Liberty Nation.

“Using images rather than facts, they push agendas rather than news,” he adds. “It can be found in all areas, but plays an even more significant role in climate alarmism, because science is hard to communicate.”

Oddly, in the same speech, he facetiously challenged the United Nations for an explanation as to why ‘Palestine’ doesn’t enjoy full member status saying: “give me just one reason why we do not deserve to be a full member of the United Nations”. He continued saying that “the international law that we have accepted and held firm to and the peace that we strive for are now severely endangered.”

Evoking the Grand Mufti’s incitement speeches and blood libels against Jews during the British Mandate, Abu Mazen claimed that Israel:”attempts to violate the sanctity of the holy al-aqsa mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre” although provided no evidence to back up this claim.

Describing Trump’s embassy move as a criminal offense, the chairman said that “the US administration has even undertaken extremely aggressive and unlawful measures declaring Jerusalem as the so called capital of Israel and moving its embassy there.”

Finally, regarding the fact that he hasn’t held an election since 2006, Abbas, in a highly creative fashion, blamed Hamas as his excuse for not having elections in over a decade saying: “we have conducted general elections in 1996 2005 and 2006 however they stopped and they were paralyzed by the coup by Hamas in 2007 since 2007.”

A new camera with a resolution five times more detailed than the human eye, able to monitor thousands of people in real time and identify individual faces has been unveiled by Chinese scientists, prompting renewed fears about mass surveillance.

ABC News in Australia reports that the new 500 megapixel cloud camera AI system, dubbed a ‘super camera’, was revealed at China’s International Industry Fair last week.

The camera system, equipped with state of the art facial recognition utilities, was designed by Fudan University and Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The designers claim that the system can detect and identify thousands of human faces or other objects in real time and instantly locate specific targets in environments such as crowded stadiums.

Of course, it would work equally as well at protests.

The designers suggested that police could set up the camera system in the center of Shanghai and monitor the movement of crowds, while cross-checking the images with medical and criminal records.

Li Daguang, a professor at the National Defense University of the People’s Liberation Army in Beijing told the Global Times that the system could “very easily be applied to national defense, military and public security.”

Technology like this in the hands of Communist Chinese authorities, who already operate a citizen social credit system, does not bode well for privacy rights and freedom.
