What Real Incitement to Murder Looks Like

In the wake of the latest mass shootings to afflict America, some Jewish organizations and their leaders joined in the effort to place at least some of the blame for these atrocities on President Donald Trump.

Rabbi Rick Jacobs of the Union of Reform Judaism reacted to the slaughter in El Paso, which was reportedly the work of a white-nationalist racist who claimed to be reacting to the "invasion" of the country by Hispanics, by pointing the finger directly at the president:

"When will this president stop demonizing asylum seekers and immigrants, which serves to embolden those like today's shooter?" Jacobs demanded.

Rabbi Jill Jacobs of the left-wing T'ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights agreed, but went even a bit further when she said extended her condemnation to "President Trump and his supporters," who, she claimed, "have incited and inflamed hatred to minorities, bear direct responsibility for this wave of white nationalist violence, based in hatred of Jews and people of color."

That Trump has contributed mightily to the coarsening of American public discourse is not in doubt. His willingness to engage in hyperbole about both critics and the objects of his ire, such as illegal immigrants, has helped create a dynamic in which any sort of rhetoric excess on both ends of the political spectrum is now imaginable.

But the leap from rightly reproving him for over-the-top comments, such as his "Send them back!" line about four members of Congress--who are U.S. citizens, even if they share radical viewpoints and three out of four support the anti-Semitic BDS movement--to framing him as an accessory to mass murder is not reasonable.

Ironically, we received a reminder about the difference between responsibility for bad rhetoric and encouraging murder this past weekend by one of his sternest media critics, CNN's Jake Tapper.

On the "State of the Union" program that Tapper hosts, he sought to make an analogy between a widely accepted example of incitement and what Trump has done:

"You hear conservatives all the time, rightly so, in my opinion, talk about the tone set by people in the Arab world, Palestinian leaders talking about--and the way they talk about Israelis, justifying in the same way you're doing, no direct link necessarily between what the leader says and the violence between some poor Israeli girl and a pizzeria, but the idea that you're validating this hatred and yet people don't--I mean, you can't compare the ideology of Hamas with anything else. But at the same time, either tone matters or it doesn't."

That, in turn, prompted a furious response from one of the House members Trump had talked about chucking out of the country, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), a Palestinian American who is a strong supporter of BDS and a bitter foe of Israel. Writing on Twitter, she denounced Tapper by saying:

"Comparing Palestinian human rights advocates to terrorist white nationalists is fundamentally a lie. Palestinians want equality, human dignity & to stop the imprisonment of children. White supremacy is calling for the "domination" of one race w/the use of violence."

Suffice it to say that both parties in this exchange are wrong.

Tapper vastly understates the level of Palestinian incitement to violence against Jews. First, it's not only a question of the ideology of Hamas, but that of the supposedly more moderate Palestinian Authority and statements made by its leader, Mahmoud Abbas, such as not letting "stinking Jewish feet" near holy places in Jerusalem.

The P.A.'s incitement is a comprehensive program of hate in its official media and educational system, in which terrorism is glorified as the highest form of patriotism, even among children too young to read and write.

The P.A. also directly funds and provides incentives to terrorism. They do so by paying salaries and pensions to terrorists and their families. Those who rightly criticize the Palestinians for this--and, fortunately, that criticism has not, as Tapper asserts, been limited to conservatives--are not talking about "tone," but of direct complicity in terrorism.

Tlaib is even more wrong when she says that Palestinians only want "equality" and "human rights." What they want is the elimination of the one Jewish state on the planet, and they are willing to engage in anti-Semitic incitement and every manner of terrorism to achieve that despicable end, even if it means a genocidal war to deprive the Jews of sovereignty over any part of their ancient homeland.

That brings us back to what the president and his supporters are or are not guilty of doing.

Unlike the Palestinian leadership, Trump has condemned acts of terrorism. Yes, he should be more careful about his words and avoid anything that might be construed as a green light to extremists. In those instances where he has allowed his critics to construe his words in that manner he has hurt his own cause, as well as lowered the tone of our politics.

But there is a difference between that and direct or indirect support for extremist murderers or white nationalism. For liberal rabbis and others to claim that opposition to illegal immigration or support for enforcing the law is tantamount to racism or support for murder is outrageous.

And to extend their condemnation to the nearly half of the country that supports Trump and his policies is to commit the same mistake that Hillary Clinton made in 2016 when she helped seal her defeat by calling political opponents "deplorables."

The president needs to do better and to try to raise us up rather than consistently lower us into the political gutter. The same admonition should be directed at many of his opponents, who are just as guilty of extreme rhetoric in which they have invoked, among other things, the Holocaust and even concentration camps to describe honest differences of opinion on contentious issues.

And we should also thank Tapper for his lame analogy, which reminded us there is a difference between irresponsible speech and incitement to murder.

The War Against Women: the Scourge of Sex - Selection Abortion

Until recently, Uttarkashi in northern India was noted primarily for its beautiful scenery and Hindu temples. And because it shares a border with Tibet along the foothills of Himalayas, the region attracts many Westerners in search of "spiritual enlightenment." Its most famous seekers? The Beatles.

Unfortunately, the latest news out of the district has nothing to do with gurus. According to a recent report by al Jazeera, Indian officials discovered that in 132 of the district's 500 villages, not a single girl was born in the past three months.

The last time anything like that happened was in "Jurassic Park." Like the movie, this sort of imbalance can only be the result of human manipulation. Unlike the movie, what's happening in India is real.

One women's rights activist has rightly called the situation "completely unheard of . . .There must have been some process by which sex determination was done illegally and abortions were carried out."

The same alarm isn't shared by everyone. One local magistrate told al Jazeera that the results could be a "coincidence." Others, such as an India correspondent of the BBC, expressed doubts about the accuracy of the story.

But what cannot be doubted is that the Indian prohibition against sex-selective abortion enacted back in 1994 has been an utter failure. The extent of the disregard for the law is revealed in one irrefutable statistic: In 2001, India had 93 girls for every 100 boys.

In 2016, the ratio was 89 girls for every 100 boys.  Multiply this out by the millions, and India trails only China in its war against women.

Of course, China's imbalance is due to its infamous "one-child policy," which is a government mandate.  What's happening in India is despite the government's mandate.

Nobel Laureate V.S. Naipaul famously described India as the land of "a million mutinies." When it comes to sex-selection abortions, it's more like the land of five-to-seven million mutinies. That's how many sex-selection abortions the "Invisible Girl Project" estimates are performed in India each year.

The resulting gender gap, as Invisible Girl Project CEO Jill McElya told CNN, "has resulted in villages where men have no women to marry because the women are non-existent . . . So children are trafficked into villages to become brides, or young women are trafficked into brothels."

McElya recently joined me on the BreakPoint Podcast. When she and her husband lived in India, they took a trip to the countryside. There, her husband saw village after village where boys outnumbered girls by as much as eight-to-one.

When he asked the children in one village about the disparity, they pointed to an older, grandmotherly-type woman and said: "That's the baby killer. Whenever a baby girl is born in our village, she's the one who does away with it."

The "hands-on" way this old woman disposed of unwanted girls is of course shocking, and reminiscent of the gendercide that took place in ancient Rome, where parents would expose unwanted daughters to the elements and wild animals.

But to be clear, in India today, only a relative handful of the five-to-seven million girls are killed in such an explicit way. Modern technology and abortion-on-demand make gendercide much tidier.

A society with a strong preference for male children no longer has to wait until birth to know the unborn child's sex and to decide whether she shall live.

This is why the issue of missing girls around the world, which has been highlighted by folks on the right and left, both religious and non-religious, is inseparable from the issue of abortion.

Well-intentioned people like Nicholas Kristoff have championed the cause of the millions of missing girls worldwide, but have refused to touch abortion, the main cause of this devastating reality.

By the way, while India has banned sex-selection abortion, only ten of our United States have such bans, and those are tied up in the courts.

3 Major Developments Happening Right Now That Could Lead To Global War
Let’s start with a stunning new development in the Middle East. Even though most Americans do not realize it, Israel and Iran are already shooting at each other. Israel has been striking Iranian military targets inside Syria for months, but now the rules of engagement have apparently changed, because in recent days the IDF has started conducting airstrikes against Iranian targets inside Iraq… In an unprecedented move, Israel has expanded its attacks on Iranian targets, with two bombing strikes on Iran-run bases in Iraq in the space of ten days.

Johnstone: Americans Should Be Very Skeptical Of Calls For New “Terrorism” Laws
Indeed, it is an established fact that the US government will use the narrative about the need to fight terrorism to advance pre-existing agendas. The first draft of the massive USA Patriot Act was introduced a week after the 9/11 attacks, far too fast for anyone to have gathered the necessary information from all the relevant government bodies about what changes were necessary and typed out the hundreds of pages of the bill. Legislators later admitted that they didn’t even have time to read through the densely worded bill before passing it the next month, so to believe that it could have been written in a week would be childish. One thing I can tell you won’t fix your problems, America, and that’s listening to the propagandists who want you to hand over even more control to a government that has already begun floating high-altitude surveillance balloons over your country without your permission.

Poll: Swing Voters Hugely Oppose 2020 Democrats Promising More Immigration

Nearly 90 percent of B-1B bombers not ready for war, top Air Force general says
Out of a fleet of 61, only seven B-1B Lancer bombers are mission-capable, while 39 are down for inspections and the remaining 15 are in depot maintenance, according to a report by Task and Purpose on Wednesday. Gen. Islamic Terrorism from Mexico to the U.S.
A captured Islamic State fighter recently confessed how, in an effort to terrorize America on its own soil, the Islamic terror group is committed to exploiting the porous US-Mexico border, including through the aid of ISIS-sympathizers living in the United States. Abu Henricki, a Canadian citizen of Trinidadian origin, told researchers with the International Center for the Study of Violent Extremism that ISIS sought to recruit him and others to penetrate the US-Mexican border through routes originating in various Central American locales.

Cultural Schizophrenia: U.S. Media No Longer Reports Facts, But Appeals to Emotion

The mainstream media in the United States has made a shift in the past few decades.  Now, they appeal to emotions as opposed to reporting the facts. This "cultural schizophrenia" is tearing the U.S. apart at the seams.

Based on the conclusions to a RAND Corporation study, the mainstream media is actively sowing discord in American society, award-winning journalist Chris Hedges tells RT.

The media is focusing on making two sides hate each other instead of reporting on the facts, and the majority of the public is unaware and doesn't care that their minds are being manipulated by their own emotional responses.

The study, which was released by RAND earlier this week, states that between 1987 and 2017, news content has shifted from event- and context-based reporting to coverage that is "more subjective, relies more heavily on argumentation and advocacy, and includes more emotional appeals."

According to RT,  prime-time cable news shows and online journalism lead the way in this shift to emotional and hate-based rhetoric. It has been noticed in print journalism as well, the government-funded think tank concluded. This is contributing to what RAND termed "Truth Decay." This is described as a shift away from facts and analysis in public discourse.

Hedges claims that the deterioration of the mainstream media is "far worse" than the RAND report suggests. And he isn't alone in that assessment.

American journalist Matt Taibbi says that the result of this journalistic decay and emotional fear mongering is a public addicted to hating each other. Americans have become addicted to the news that agrees with their bias, and it was set up that way on purpose. The only thing anyone will hear when they turn on the news are stories specifically crafted to manufacture outrage, make you hate the other side, and fuel the addiction to anger.

The mainstream media has succeeded in addicting the average American to anger and hatred. The idea that the media could profit off of facts was lost long ago. "Commercial structure that created the old media is gone and it has eviscerated journalism within the country because it is not sustainable. We saw it with the collapse of the classified advertising, which was 40 percent of the newspapers' revenues. It is not sustainable economically anymore," Hedges said.

It is becoming difficult to tell apart facts and opinion now, and people believe whatever they want to believe, Hedges explained. "We spent years watching CNN and MSNBC promoting this conspiracy theory that Trump was a Kremlin agent... It was all garbage but it attracted viewers," Hedges added as an example. And, if you don't mind your IQ dropping, turn on MSNBC for just a few minutes. It's likely you'll still hear something about Russiagate to keep the public ticked off beyond comprehension.

Now people can claim their emotions as facts and never have to actually view anyone who disagrees with them as a fellow human being.  This will be successful at keeping the fighting amongst the public as the politicians steal more of their money, take away more of their freedom, and get away with it.

"It creates cultural schizophrenia," Hedges said, noting that he observed this during the collapse of Yugoslavia in the 1990s. At that time, the media drove antagonisms and hatreds between ethnic groups.

Similar things are happening in the US right now, as the left-wing media label all Trump supporters as racists and deplorables," Hedges said. "It all creates societal fragmentation and discord," Hedges told RT. "These schisms could lead to civil unrest - that is what happens here."

"You can sway a thousand men by appealing to their prejudices quicker than you can convince one man by logic."

The good news is that many are now waking up to this reality with the publication of a new poll this week.  Conducted by the Pew Research Center, the poll found that 64 percent of Americans believe that the media has a damaging effect on the United States – making them more loathed than other often-demonized institutions such as banks (39 percent) and large corporations (53 percent).

3 Major Developments Happening Right Now That Could Lead to Global War

Categories: War

News Image

It has been a seemingly quiet summer in America so far, but meanwhile we are witnessing major developments on the other side of the globe that could change everything.  We are so close to war, and yet most people have absolutely no idea what is happening.

In fact, if you showed most Americans a blank map of the world, they couldn't even pick out Iran, Hong Kong or North Korea.

There is so much apathy in our society today, and so little knowledge about foreign affairs, and so most people simply do not grasp the importance of the drama that is playing out right in front of our eyes.

But if a major war does erupt, none of our lives are ever going to be the same again.  So I am going to keep writing about these things, because I believe that we have reached an absolutely critical juncture in our history.

Let's start with a stunning new development in the Middle East.

Even though most Americans do not realize it, Israel and Iran are already shooting at each other.  Israel has been striking Iranian military targets inside Syria for months, but now the rules of engagement have apparently changed, because in recent days the IDF has started conducting airstrikes against Iranian targets inside Iraq...

In an unprecedented move, Israel has expanded its attacks on Iranian targets, with two bombing strikes on Iran-run bases in Iraq in the space of ten days. The Israeli Air Force carried out the military strikes with F-35 jets, according to Asharq Al-Awsat, an Arabic-language newspaper published in London. News of the attacks comes just a day after the US and Israel tested a missile defence system which used targets "similar to Iranian nuclear missiles".

The reason this is being called "an unprecedented move" is because this is the very first time since 1981 that we have seen Israeli airstrikes inside Iraq.

Needless to say, these latest airstrikes have absolutely enraged the Iranians.  It looks like the Israeli government has determined that any Iranian military targets outside of Iran itself are fair game, and it is probably only a matter of time before Iran strikes back in a major way.

And if Iran ultimately decides that one of the best ways to strike back is to start hitting targets inside of Israel, that could be the spark that sets off a major war in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, it appears that something major is brewing in China.

The political protests that have made global headlines in Hong Kong in recent weeks have greatly angered the Chinese government.  They were probably hoping that the protests would quickly subside and soon be forgotten, but that hasn't happened.

So now China is faced with a decision.  If such protests were happening elsewhere in China, they would be brutally crushed, but Hong Kong is a special case.

If the Chinese are too harsh with the protesters in Hong Kong, that could turn world opinion against them, but if they do nothing that could encourage protests to start happening in other area of the country.

In the end, the Chinese will probably do what they always do, and that means crushing the opposition.  And Zero Hedge is reporting that Chinese forces are currently gathering "on Hong Kong's border"...

Massive anti-Beijing protests which have gripped Hong Kong over the past month, and have become increasingly violent as both an overwhelmed local police force and counter-protesters have hit back with force, are threatening to escalate on a larger geopolitical scale after the White House weighed in this week.

With China fast losing patience, there are new reports of a significant build-up of Chinese security forces on Hong Kong's border, as Bloomberg reports:

The White House is monitoring what a senior administration official called a congregation of Chinese forces on Hong Kong's border.

Technically, Hong Kong is considered to be part of China, but it has always been allowed wide latitude to govern itself ever since it was handed over to the Chinese.

But now things could be about to change dramatically, and some are even using the word "invade" to describe what is about to happen.  For example, just consider this tweet from Kyle Bass...

"The White House is monitoring a buildup of chinese forces on Hong Kong's border, a senior administration official said." Here we go..the moment the pla army marches from Shenzhen, it's over. china's army is going to invade HK. It's inevitable. #hk #china

If Chinese forces start pouring into Hong Kong, the Trump administration is going to throw a fit.  Relations between our two nations are already the worst that they have been since the end of the Korean War, and the situation in Hong Kong could potentially push things over the edge.

In fact, the Chinese have already been placing the blame for the protests in Hong Kong squarely on the U.S. government...

"It's clear that Mr. Pompeo has put himself in the wrong position and still regards himself as the head of the CIA," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a news briefing. "He might think that violent activities in Hong Kong are reasonable because after all, this is the creation of the U.S."

China's position has been to recently declare the protests going "far beyond" what's legal and "peaceful" amid clashes with police.

We shall see what happens, but this certainly has the potential to push the United States and China much, much closer to conflict.

On top of everything else, North Korea just fired two more missiles into the ocean...

North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles early on Wednesday, the South Korean military said, only days after it launched two other missiles intended to pressure South Korea and the United States to stop upcoming military drills.

The latest launches were from the Hodo peninsula on North Korea's east coast, the same area from where last week's were conducted, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said in a statement. It said it was monitoring in case of additional launches.

The North Koreans are greatly alarmed by the joint military drills that the U.S. and South Korea will soon be conducting, and whenever they get greatly upset about something they seem to express that displeasure by firing off more missiles.

Yes, President Trump and Kim Jong-Un have been talking, but things remain extremely tense and it wouldn't take very much at all for a major conflict to erupt on the Korean peninsula.

Without a doubt, we live at a time of "wars and rumors of wars", and those with discerning eyes can see what is happening.

The chess pieces are slowly being moved into place, and the combatants are almost ready.

Any number of things could ultimately spark World War 3, and once it begins it is going to be nearly impossible to stop.

...thy Gentleness Hath Made Me Great - Psalm 18:35

Morning Meditation

The Nasmyth hammer which can pulverise blocks of tough metal, will break the shell of a nut without hurting the kernel. In this it resembles this Psalm, in the earlier part of which there is one of the grandest descriptions that words can give of God's mighty interposition on behalf of his threatened child. But here we are told that it is the Divine gentleness which has made him great. It is as though God's power were exerted against our foes, whilst our education is undertaken by his love.

Review your life. See the perils from which you have been rescued; the process of your education; the slow degrees by which you have climbed to any eminence of Christian character; the method by which you have attained the power of influencing others: is it not all attributable to the gentleness of the Good Shepherd? Not by sudden cataclysms and catastrophes; not by the earthquake, the fire, or the hurricane; not even by the stringent requirements of law; but by a succession of tenderest, gentlest movements of the Divine Spirit. He has remonstrated in whispered accents; He has seemed grieved and sad; He has turned and looked; He has sent a message by a woman's lips; He has put a little child into your life to lead you; He has poured on you one continual stream of sunshine. Now, it has been the distilling of dew; and again, soft showers on the mown grass: and through all, the purpose has run of eliminating the self-life, and leading you to the full stature of the perfect man. The strongest soul I ever knew, one who seemed to have been fashioned by God's mightiest strokes, was wont, in life's eventide, to attribute all to the effect of God's gentleness.
