How they stood militarily: the Arab states and Israel on the eve of the 1948 war
There are reasons why the Jews won and the Arabs lost the war of 1948. The fact that the Arab states were not equipped or prepared is not one of them, as some “new historian” accounts and other revisionists have argued. The Arabs clearly had a militarily edge on May 14, 1948. They should have been victorious against the nascent State of Israel.

The Great Immigration Betrayal
IN the months since President Obama first seem poised — as he now seems poised again — to issue a sweeping executive amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants, we’ve learned two important things about how this administration approaches its constitutional obligations. First, we now have a clear sense of the legal arguments that will be used to justify the kind of move Obama himself previously described as a betrayal of our political order. They are, as expected, lawyerly in the worst sense, persuasive only if abstracted from any sense of precedent or proportion or political normality.

Why Russia May Not Be Able To Save The Ruble
Every central banker knows the importance of trust. In a world of fiat currencies--bank notes backed by nothing other than more bank notes--shoppers and firms must have confidence that cash will retain its value in order to hold it. That trust is being tested in Russia, where the rouble has fallen 23% against the dollar in the past three months.

Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis, one of Egypt's deadliest terror groups, published images Saturday, showing some of their jihadists carrying ISIS's recognizable black flag onto one of the guard towers located near the border between Israel and Egypt.

On Wednesday, Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis pledged its allegiance to ISIS in Iraq and Syria, in a bid to boost recruitment and bolster its fight against the Egyptian army, according to analysts.

In a video posted by the group to social media, also on Saturday, they claimed responsibility for last month's deadly suicide attacks in northern Sinai, which resulted in the deaths of 30 Egyptian soldiers. The video also documents the attack.

Although no formal verification of the terrorist organization's flag claims have been presented, the message they are sending to Egyptian and Israeli authorities is obvious - and chilling.

Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis, known for operating in (and terrorizing) the Sinai Peninsula, has killed scores of policemen and soldiers since the army overthrew Muslim Brotherhood president Mohammed Morsi last year. They have also begun practicing beheading in recent weeks.

The October 24 attack in which a jihadist rammed an explosives-packed car into military checkpoint in northern Sinai was the deadliest such incident in years, demonstrating the terrorists desire to harm the sovereignty of Cairo's government.

Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis said it was acting in retaliation for a crackdown on Islamist supporters following Morsi's removal from power.

In the video, they address Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who orchestrated the crackdown, directly, promising further attacks against security forces. The group also accuses al-Sisi of collaborating with Israel.

Israel has also ben targeted by the terror group in the past, with several rocket attacks hitting the Israeli resort city of Eilat.

Senior Hamas leader Mahmoud Al-Zahar declared on Sunday that the terrorist movement is planning to develop its capabilities to carry out terror attacks against Israel from Judea and Samaria, and that it intends to continue to lead the Palestinian camp which advocates for armed struggle until Israel is destroyed.

Al-Zahar, who spoke in Gaza, said that the movement views the carrying out of terror attacks from Judea and Samaria as important, and plans to use available means and new methods, such as stabbing and hit-and-run attacks, against Israelis.

He further said that in the last war, Hamas’s rockets reached as far as Haifa, and that now the time has come to increase the range and destructive power of the missiles so that they can hit any point in Israel. Al-Zahar added that Hamas’s terror tunnels destroyed Israel’s security strategy as well as its plan to establish a buffer zone along Gaza.

He went on to say that there are two different streams in the Palestinian arena. The first one is represented by Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other terrorist organizations, and it views Israel as an enemy that must be fought against and believes that armed struggle is the only way to “liberate Palestine” and bring about the return of the refugees.

The second stream, said Al-Zahar, is Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah movement, which sees Israel as a partner for peace and negotiations and believes that only some of the refugees will return to Israel.

The threats of terrorism come just days after Hamas’s “military wing” warned of renewed violence unless Israel allows the reconstruction of Gaza.

"We are saying to all sides  -- if the siege on Gaza and the obstacles for reconstruction remain, there will be a new explosion," said Abu Obeida, a spokesman for the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.

A blessing: the unchanging faithfulness of God

It is a gracious thing in our relationship with the heavenly Father to find that He loves us for ourselves and values our love more than galaxies of new created worlds.

The added blessing is to discover His faithfulness - for what He is today we shall find Him tomorrow, the next day, and the next year!

Actually, the fellowship of God with His redeemed family is beyond all telling. He communes with His redeemed ones in an easy, uninhibited fellowship that is restful and healing to the soul.

He is not sensitive, nor selfish, nor temperamental. He is not hard to please, though He may be hard to satisfy. He expects of us only what He has Himself first supplied.

He is quick to mark every simple effort to please Him, and just as quick to overlook imperfections when He knows we meant to do His will. Surely He loves us for ourselves!

Unfortunately, many Christians cannot get free from their perverted notions of God, and these notions poison their hearts and destroy their inward freedom. These friends serve God grimly, as the elder brother did, doing what is right without enthusiasm and without joy, and seem altogether unable to understand the buoyant, spirited celebration when the prodigal comes home. Their idea of God rules out the possibility of His being happy in His people!

How good it would be if we could learn that God is easy to live with, the sum of all patience, the essence of kindly good will!

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever," Hebrews 13:8
