Last week, Ahmed Shaheed, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Iranian Human Rights, issued a scathing report on the state of human rights inside of the Islamic Republic Of Iran.

This is the same Islamic Republic of Iran that P5+1 and US President Barack Obama are actively negotiating with concerning Iran’s “break-out” ability to build nuclear bombs.

The report listed some of the gross human rights abuses inside of Iran by the government of the Islamic Republic. Some of the highlights of those violations are:

1. A projected record number of executions where ethnic minority groups “appear to be disproportionately charged with moharebeh [“enmity against God” – ed.] and mofsed fel-arz [“corruption on Earth” – ed.], sometimes seemingly for exercising their rights to peaceful expression and association.”

2. On independence of judges and fair trials, “a parliamentarian from Tehran...underscored that ‘we have witnessed the security apparatus, from the position of strength, putting the judge under pressure to steer the trial in the direction that they want.’”

3. “Continuing reports regarding the use of psychological and physical torture to solicit confessions indicate the widespread and systematic use of such practices.”

4. “Some 66% of Iranian women have reportedly experienced domestic violence...for example, laws continue to explicitly allow for non-consensual sexual relations in marriage. There are insufficient safe houses for women in need of refuge.”

5. “A bill on the activities of political parties was made publicly available on January 8, 2014. It prohibits parties from activities until they obtain two permits.”

6. “The legal age of marriage for girls in the country is 13 years, but girls as young as 9 years of age may be married with permission from a court. . . . At least 48,580 girls between 10 and 14 years of age were married in 2011, 48,567 of whom were reported to have had at least one child before they reached 15 years of age.”

7. “The Government accepted nine recommendations regarding religious rights...no progress in this regard has been observed, however.”

Juvenile executions still allowed

The UN Report notes that in 2010, the government of Iran accepted three recommendations relating to the death penalty: to reconsider the inclusion of apostasy, witchcraft and heresy as capital offenses; to consider the abolition of juvenile execution; and to respect the minimum standards and provisions set out in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child concerning the death penalty.

The new Islamic Penal Code that entered into force in 2013 “now omits references to apostasy, witchcraft and heresy, but continues to allow for juvenile executions and retains the death penalty for activities that do not constitute 'most serious crimes' in line with the safeguards guaranteeing protection of the rights of those facing the death penalty,” the report says.

These include “adultery, recidivist alcohol use, drug possession and trafficking and some crimes resulting in convictions for moharebeh," commonly translated as “enmity against God,” but translated by the Government as a crime in which “a person brandishes or points a weapon at members of the public to kill, frighten and coerce them." It also includes convictions for "mofsed fel-arz (corruption on Earth)."

Regarding torture, the UN document cites “continuing reports regarding the use of psychological and physical torture to solicit confessions indicate the widespread and systematic use of such practices."

"Of the 24 Iranian refugees in Turkey who provided testimony for the present report, 20 reported torture and ill-treatment and 16 psychological abuse, such as prolonged solitary confinement, mock executions and the threat of rape, along with physical abuse, including severe beatings, use of suspension and pressure positions, electroshock and burnings," it added.

Obama was recently revealed by American and Arab officials to be growing closer to Iran and its terror proxies Hezbollah and Hamas, and also has reportedly been raising the centrifuge ceiling in an Iran deal, apparently as part of an eager desire to seal a deal.

Tibi Urges Belgian Parliament to Sanction Israel

Radical Arab MK pushes for 'Palestine' recognition in London last month, now in Belgium he agitates against 'racist extremist Israel.'

After traveling to London to push for a non-binding vote recognizing the Palestinian Authority (PA) as the "state of Palestine" last month, radical Arab MK Ahmed Tibi (United Arab List) is now in the Belgian parliament demanding sanctions against the Jewish state on whose Knesset he serves.

"In Israel an extremist government rules that is backed by an even more extremist Knesset," Tibi claimed while speaking at the Belgian parliament on Thursday, reports Yediot Aharonoth.

The extremist Arab MK continued, calling some of Israel's politicians "pyromaniacs who need to be reined in," and claiming "they are capable of setting Jerusalem ablaze without thinking about the results."

And then Tibi, a citizen of Israel and member of its Knesset, called on Belgian parliamentarians to implement sanctions against Israel, so as to stop "settlement construction" and demonstrate against how Israel is "a democracy for the Jews and a racist discriminatory state towards its Arab citizens."

The call by Tibi, who has a history of vile abusive language, comes at a time when European Union (EU) officials said last month they are "frustrated" that Israel is not bending to their political designs on it, and are plotting punitive measures against the Jewish state.

It also comes after the UK - urged by Tibi - and Sweden have moved to recognize "Palestine," and Belgium's neighbor France is considering following suit.

After Tibi's push for "Palestine" in London last month, MK Miri Regev (Likud) wrote to the attorney general calling for Tibi to be dismissed for his "insolent" trip to England.

"If he wants to represent himself privately as Ahmed Tibi, he must resign from his position and fly to Britain privately, and convince whoever he wants," reasoned Regev.

Sunspots Facing Earth May Trigger Blackouts

A new group of sunspots that has come into view of Earth has the attention of the US Space Weather Prediction Centre.

The area, referred to as 2205, spat out an x-ray flare that produced a moderate radio blackout today, according to the centre's website. Earlier this week, it let loose several coronal mass ejections, explosions of magnetic fields and plasma from the sun's atmosphere that can knock out power grids and disrupt navigational systems.

Most of the material in today's flare, along with the earlier eruptions, was pointed away from Earth, thus sparing the planet severe storms.

"We're kind of seeing a bit of resurgence now," said Robert Rutledge, lead operations at the centre. "The sun is making a second run at us."

Sunspots are large magnetic storms that appear as dark areas on the sun's surface and can be seen from Earth. A large and active sunspot complex last month caused several radio blackout storms before moving away from the side of the sun facing Earth.

A person walking down the street isn't going to be vaporiSed by a solar storm striking Earth. The planet's magnetic field acts as a shield.

It's the terrestrial improvements humans have made that tend to suffer. Severe coronal ejections can cause power networks to collapse, prompt airlines to divert planes from polar routes and disrupt telemetry for spacecraft.

The storms also create the auroras in polar regions that look like shimmering sheets of light across the sky.

Storm types

The sun can touch off three kinds of storms on Earth that the Colorado-based centre tracks - geomagnetic, solar radiation and radio blackout. Those events are ranked on a five-step scale with 1 being the least harmful and 5 a good reason to stock up on candles.

The coronal mass ejections thrown out by the current sunspot complex were pointed away from Earth and not a problem. As it rotates around the sun and points toward the planet, that could change, the centre said on its website.

A minor radio blackout happened earlier this week, while in September, a tandem of coronal ejections from a single sunspot complex touched off a series of moderate geomagnetic storms. In March of 1989 entire the Canadian province of Quebec suffered a blackout caused by a solar storm, according to NASA's website.

The sunspots that are now becoming visible will take about two weeks to traverse the side of the sun pointed at the Earth, Rutledge said. In about a week, the system will be in perfect position to do the most damage, he said.

Carrington event

The concern that lingers with many researchers has its roots in a storm recorded in 1859 by British astronomer Richard Carrington.

Known since then as the Carrington Event, the storm electrified telegraph lines, shocking operators, and created an aurora seen in Cuba and Hawaii, according to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration website.

A comparable storm that erupted in 2012 missed the Earth, sparing power grids and orbiting satellites.

Until researchers see a complex on the surface of the sun they can't know what it might do, Rutledge said. "Two weeks ago we had the biggest region we had in 25 years and it didn't do anything."

Peace Partner? Abbas's Fatah Demands More Car Terror Attacks

'Moderate' Fatah issues spate of cartoons and images calling for more terrorism against Jews; 'run over the foreign settler!'

Palestinian Media Watch

Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah movement, still held up as a "moderate" counterbalance to Hamas by many in the world, is actively calling for car terrorist attacks after a recent spate of three such attacks in the last two weeks.

The flurry of Fatah Facebook activity urging more attacks ramming cars into Jews was exposed and translated by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW).

After a Hamas terrorist murdered a Border Patrol officer and wounded many others with his car in Jerusalem on Wednesday, and later another Arab driver ran into three soldiers, Fatah on Thursday posted numerous cartoons and images to its page calling for more such attacks.

One cartoon was titled "the run over organization," using a play of words on the Arabic da'es meaning "run over" and Da'esh, the Arabic acronym for Islamic State (ISIS). In the cartoon, Fatah urges "hit the gas at 199 (kmh, 125 mph - ed.) for Al-Aqsa."

A crossed-over traffic sign reads "Al-Aqsa," hinting at the ban on Jewish entry to the Temple Mount by the Jordanian Waqf (Islamic trust) that is in de facto control of the holiest site in Judaism.

Another Fatah post on Thursday reads simply "run over, friend, run over the foreign settler!"

Indeed numerous terrorist websites, including that of Hamas, have been touting a "car intifada" in the wake of the Wednesday attacks.

In yet another post from Wednesday, a picture of former PA Chairman Yasser Arafat shouting was subtitled "the Jews are defiling Al-Aqsa - will you not rage?"

PMW has documented how Abbas last month, just weeks before the recent series of lethal attacks, called to prevent Jews "defiling" the Temple Mount by "all means necessary," in an uncanny echo of Arafat's call for the 2000 Second Intifada. Abbas's call for terror was given heavy rotation on official PA TV.

Another post on Fatah's official Facebook page Thursday showed a man shooting an assault rifle on the ground with the words "restore your glory."

The incessant urging of terror was not only found on Fatah's main Facebook page; "The National Liberation Movement - Fatah" page also got into the terror action on Thursday, showing a cartoon of a car with Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) flag colors trying to ram three fleeing Jews.

The text under the cartoon reads "#Da'es ("run over" - ed.) - a new hashtag."

"May Allah protect the heroes," the same page wrote in another post Thursday, praising an alleged stabbing that was reported in the frequently fictitious Arab media.

"Reports of a stabbing of a Zionist security guard and taking of his weapon in North Jerusalem. May Allah protect the heroes. #Palestine_resists," the page bragged.

The same Fatah page also on Thursday posted a short video of Arab riots on the Temple Mount, writing "and they ask why we run them over!" The convoluted logic appears to be justifying the terror attacks in recent weeks with the Arab violence on the holiest site in Judaism.

Obama Sends a Secret Letter to Iran's Khamenei

Report reveals Obama wrote a letter last month - without telling Israel - asking for ISIS cooperation and nuclear deal.

Senior sources have revealed that US President Barack Obama secretly wrote to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei in mid-October, and urged Iran to reach a deal on its nuclear program and join the US coalition against Islamic State (ISIS).

The letter, revealed by Wall Street Journal, told Khamenei that cooperation on ISIS depends on an agreement being reached by the November 24 deadline regarding Iran's nuclear program, which Israel has warned aims to build nuclear weapons.

Obama administration officials didn't deny the letter when asked by foreign diplomats in recent days, the report added, although the US didn't inform Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates about the letter. The move is seen as disregarding the security concerns those countries have raised regarding Iran's nuclear program and a potential nuclear arms race it could spark.

This is in fact the fourth time Obama has written Khamenei since taking office in 2009.

Khamenei has called for Israel's destruction, and last month around the time of Obama's letter blamed America for creating ISIS, and Iran's Revolutionary Guards recently clarified America remains its number one enemy.

Just last week American and Arab officials revealed to the Wall Street Journal that Obama has moved closer to Iran and it's terror proxies Hamas and Hezbollah. They noted on secret channels of communications to Iran via senior Shi'ite sources in Iraq.

A senior Israeli source revealed two weeks before that that Obama may be holding secret talks with Iran - just as he was revealed last November to have been holding secret talks for over half a year prior to the recent controversial temporary nuclear agreement, and likewise reportedly had been easing sanctions on Iran for five months ahead of the deal.

Regarding the ISIS angle, US Secretary of State John Kerry last month backtracked and wouldn't rule out military cooperation with Iran on ISIS, after earlier saying such cooperation was out of the question. According to reports, though Iran initially rejected the notion of such cooperation against ISIS, Tehran later said it would consider it - in return for a good deal in the nuclear talks.

The Democratic party was thoroughly trounced in mid-term elections on Tuesday, leaving Obama as a "lame duck" for the remaining time of his presidency until 2016 elections.

However, he reportedly has quietly been raising the "centrifuge ceiling" being offered to Iran, and statements from his administration indicate a desperation to strong-arm through a nuclear deal.

Iran, for its part, has drawn a "red line" at maintaining enough centrifuges to produce enough uranium for 38 A-bombs per year.

After Jordan pulls ambassador, Netanyahu calls Jordan's king and vows to keep discriminatory 'status quo' on Temple Mount.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu apparently is very intent on forbidding Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount - the holiest site in Judaism - so much so that on Thursday he called Jordanian King Abdullah II and stressed to him again that the discriminatory "status quo" on the site will be kept.

Ahead of a meeting with Indian Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday evening, Netanyahu said "I spoke today to King Abdullah of Jordan and we agreed that we'll do every effort to calm the situation."

"I explained to him that we're keeping the status quo on the Temple Mount and that this includes Jordan's traditional role there, as consistent with the peace treaty between Israel and Jordan," said Netanyahu.

In the call, "Netanyahu reiterated Israel's commitment to preserve the status quo on the Temple Mount as well as Jordan's special status at the site," according to a state of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

The Jordanian Waqf (Islamic trust) has been left in de facto control of the holy site since Israel liberated it in the 1967 Six Day War, and continues to discriminate against Jews, forbidding them to pray at the site. Israeli police have folded to the demands despite Israeli law stipulating freedom of religion.

Netanyahu's office earlier on Thursday likewise said "there will be no change in the status quo on the Temple Mount and that whoever expresses a different opinion is presenting a personal view and not the policy of the Government."

According to reports, Netanyahu met with Abdullah on Saturday in a secret meeting, in which he likewise vowed to keep the status quo, and even said he was considering a total ban on Jewish entry to the Temple Mount.

Likewise, after Jordan announced its intentions to pressure Israel not to advance a bill allowing Jewish prayer at the site, Netanyahu last month calmed Jordan by vowing not to allow Jewish prayer.

After violent Arab rioting on the Temple Mount on Wednesday forced police to enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque as rioters barricaded themselves inside, the Jordanian government announced it would be withdrawing its ambassador to Israel.

The recent tensions come after Yehuda Glick, an activist who championed the push for Jewish prayer rights on the Temple Mount, was shot last Wednesday by an Arab terrorist in Jerusalem.

Violence flares as Israeli police clash with Palestinians at the entrance to the 8th-century Al-Aqsa mosque, Islam's third most sacred place

Israeli police dispersed dozens of masked Palestinians who threw rocks and firecrackers near the contested Holy site in Jerusalem's Old City in response to a visit by a group of Jewish activists.

The footage was taken a few hours before an attack at a train station in east Jerusalem when a border police officer was killed by a Palestinian who ran over several people with his car, killing one and injuring 14 others.

The Palestinian man rammed a car into a crowded train stop and then attacked people with an iron bar after leaving the vehicle, before he was shot dead by police.

The militant Hamas group took responsibility for the attack – the second such assault in east Jerusalem in the past two weeks – which escalated already heightened tensions between Arabs and Jews in the city.

The roots of the unrest are many: from the killing in July of a Palestinian teenager by Jewish extremists – apparently in revenge for the killing of three Israeli teenagers by Palestinians – to increased settlement building in East Jerusalem, the war in Gaza and a push by ultranationalist Jews to be allowed to pray at one of Islam's holiest sites.

Senior Egyptian officials both from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's government and the army have contacted their Israeli counterparts in the last two days, threatening that the tensions over the Temple Mount may cause "regional deterioration."

The covert communication, which was revealed to the Hebrew-language site Walla!, included a warning regarding Jordan's move to pull its ambassador to Israel on Wednesday, after Arab rioters attacked police on the Mount - the holiest site in Judaism - and forced them to enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque after barricading themselves inside and launching a hail of fireworks and rocks.

The Egyptian sources reportedly said Jordan isn't the only country that is "upset" by the tensions at the site, and that the entire Arab world is united in opposing Israel's enforcement of order on the Mount, which is under the de facto control of the Jordanian waqf (Islamic trust).

MK Moshe Feiglin (Likud) visited the Mount in a call for Jewish prayer rights at the site on Sunday, after Temple Mount activist Yehuda Glick was shot last Wednesday by an Arab terrorist; likewise, Building Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) dismissed Jordanian threats regarding the Mount.

In response, the Egyptian sources reportedly demanded that Israel's leadership "rein in" the statements.

The demand casts a different light on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin's decision to take the unusual move Thursday of calling MKs individually and urging them to quiet down the Temple Mount discussion.

It also reflects on Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman's (Yisrael Beytenu) public condemnation of "irresponsible politicians" visiting the Temple Mount on Thursday, in which he called such visits "stupidity" and a search for cheap publicity.

Liberman is the only one able to replace Interior Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovich of his own party who has come in for heat over his inability to prevent Arab terrorism in the capital, but his statement indicates he has little intention of doing so. Aharonovich on Wednesday said following the latest terror attack it likely isn't the last.

On the Jordanian front, Netanyahu has released a statement since the Wednesday recall of the ambassador vowing to keep the discriminatory status quo on the Temple Mount, and on Thursday called Jordanian King Abdullah II and promised to him that he would not allow Jewish prayer at the site.

French Polynesia: Health officials reported the first cases of locally transmitted chikungunya in Tahiti, as well as on Austral and Palliser islands. Chikungunya symptoms include fever and joint pain, headache, muscle pain, joint swelling or rash. The only protection is to avoid mosquito bites.

Costa Rica: The U.S. Embassy advises tourists to use caution while traveling near the Turrialba volcano, in the country's central mountain range, about 15 miles from the city of Turrialba. Because of ongoing volcanic and seismic activity, authorities raised the alert level for the volcano to yellow, the second-highest on a three-level alert system. Access above La Pastora also has been restricted. Some areas, like San Jose, Alajuela and Heredia provinces, have been affected by ash from the eruptions, and there is potential for travel disruptions.

France: Protests in Nantes and Toulouse turned violent Nov. 1 over the death of an environmental activist allegedly killed by police, while actions in Lille, Bordeaux and Avignon remained mostly peaceful. The activist died while demonstrating against the controversial Sivens Dam project in the Tarn region in southwestern France. Because talks about the future of the dam are still underway, there is potential for more protests. Tourists should follow local media for updates and avoid large crowds during demonstrations.

Austria: Tourists in Vienna should be aware of planned protests at the U.S. Embassy. The demonstrations, organized by the Iranian Human Rights Organization, will take place 3 to 5 p.m. every Wednesday in November. Authorities expect the actions to be peaceful, but visitors should be cautious.

China: Travelers visiting Guangdong province, which borders Hong Kong, should be aware that an outbreak of mosquito-borne dengue fever has been reported in the region. At least 30,000 cases have been logged, though health officials are working to control the outbreak.
