National Security Council says 'chickensh**t' insult to Netanyahu is 'counterproductive,' and 'not the Administration's view.'

The White House is distancing itself from slanderous comments by an unnamed Obama administration official on Wednesday, after the official was quoted by Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic as having called Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu "chickens**t", as well as “recalcitrant, myopic, reactionary, obtuse, blustering, pompous, and ‘Aspergery."

"Certainly that's not the Administration's view, and we think such comments are inappropriate and counter-productive," said Alistair Baskey, a spokesman for the National Security Council, stated Wednesday.

"Prime Minister Netanyahu and the President have forged an effective partnership, and consult closely and frequently, including earlier this month when the President hosted the Prime Minister in the Oval Office."

Baskey further explained away the comments - which follow strong criticism from the US State Department against Israel building Jewish homes in Jerusalem - by saying that 'disagreements' between the two governments have been blown out of proportion.

"Obviously, despite the extremely close relationship between the U.S. and Israel, we do not agree on every issue. For instance, we have repeatedly made clear the United States' longstanding view that settlement activity is illegitimate and complicates efforts to achieve a two-state solution," he said.

"The U.S.-Israel relationship remains as strong as ever, our security bonds have never been greater, and the ties between our nations are unshakable. We remain fully and firmly committed to Israel's security. And, Prime Minister Netanyahu has repeatedly affirmed that he shares the U.S. view that the best solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is to establish two states living side by side in peace and security."

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki agreed there were issues "where we express concern and there's disagreement," but amid concerns that US-Israeli ties are plunging to new lows, she insisted the US relationship with Israel "remains strong."

"Our security bonds have never been greater and the ties between our nations are unshakeable," Psaki told AFP reporters.

The remarks caused an instant firestorm from Israeli public officials, with several MKs lashing out at the Obama administration over its "chutzpah" and one former ambassador stating that US-Israel relations were in the midst of a serious crisis.

Netanyahu himself responded directly to the personal attack earlier Wednesday, during a special Knesset session marking 13 years since the assassination of Tourism Minister Rehava'am Ze'evi (also known by his nickname "Ghandi") by Palestinian terrorists.

"When there is pressure on Israel to give up on its security the easiest thing is to give up," he said. "As prime minister I stand for the security of Israel. The life of every single citizen and soldier matters to me, and I am not prepared to make compromises that will endanger our country."

"Our interests are not on the minds of those who attack us or me personally," he emphasized. "The attack on me comes because I defend the State of Israel, and despite all the attacks I will continue to defend our country and the citizens of Israel."

U.S. General: North Korea Now Has Nuclear Warheads for Missiles

Kim Jong-un holds binoculars during his observation of an actual drill of combined military units at an unidentified location in this photo carried by the Rodong Sinmun on Oct. 24.

Bruce Klingner, a senior research fellow for Northeast Asia at The Heritage Foundation's Asian Studies Center, spent 20 years in the intelligence community working at the CIA and Defense Intelligence Agency.

North Korea now has the ability to produce a miniaturized nuclear warhead that can be mounted atop a ballistic missile.

That is the assessment of Gen. Curtis M. Scaparrotti, the senior U.S. commander on the Korean Peninsula, as he talked to reporters Friday. Scaparrotti also concluded that Pyongyang has a functioning long-range mobile missile launcher.

Although North Korea has conducted three nuclear explosion tests and several medium-and long-range missile test firings, it had not been known whether the regime had developed a nuclear warhead sufficiently small to fit on top of a missile with the range to reach the continental United States.

“Personally I think that they certainly have had the expertise in the past. They’ve had the right connections [with Iran and Pakistan],” commented Scaparrotti, “and so I believe have the capability to have miniaturized a [nuclear] device at this point, and they have the technology to potentially actually deliver what they say they have [and] I think they have a launcher that will carry it at this point.”

To date, experts have predominantly asserted that North Korea would not master for several more years the ability to miniaturize a nuclear warhead and deliver it via missile. Media reports habitually declare that North Korean missiles cannot yet reach the United States.

However, as I testified before Congress in March 2014, that benign assumption is flawed since, for example, it gives insufficient weight to Pyongyang’s lengthy collaborative nuclear and missile relationship with Pakistan, a country that all experts assess already has nuclear weapons deliverable by missile. North Korean scientists provided critical assistance to Islamabad’s missile programs in return for reciprocal uranium-based nuclear weapon expertise, technology and components.

Available unclassified evidence indicates North Korea has likely already achieved warhead miniaturization, the ability to place nuclear weapons on its medium-range missiles and a preliminary ability to reach the continental United States with a missile.

Indeed, Scaparrotti’s remarks appear part of an increasingly stronger U.S. military assessment of the North Korean nuclear threat. After South Korea recovered components of the North Korean December 2012 long-range missile launch, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. James Winnefeld stated in March 2013, “We believe the KN-08 [long-range missile] probably does have the range to reach the United States.”

U.S. experts concluded that the recovered North Korean missile provided “tangible proof that North Korea was building the missile’s cone at dimensions for a nuclear warhead, durable enough to be placed on a long-range missile that could re-enter the earth’s atmosphere from space.” A U.S. official added that South Korea provided other intelligence suggesting that North Korea had “mastered the miniaturization and warhead design as well.”

Following an August 2013 meeting between South Korean Minister of Defense Kim Kwan-jin and U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, a Ministry of Defense official commented that both countries agreed that North Korea could “miniaturize nuclear warheads small enough to mount on ballistic missiles in the near future.”

During heightened tensions in 2013, Pyongyang threatened to turn Seoul and Washington into “seas of fire” through a “precise nuclear strike.” North Korea has repeatedly declared that it will never negotiate away the “treasured sword” of its nuclear arsenal, even revising the constitution to enshrine itself as a nuclear nation.

Last year, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un declared that he would, “increase the production of precision and miniaturized nuclear weapons and the means of their delivery and ceaselessly develop nuclear weapons technology to actively develop more powerful and advanced nuclear weapons.”

State Department Plans to Bring Foreign Ebola Patients to U.S.

The State Department has quietly made plans to bring Ebola-infected doctors and medical aides to the U.S. for treatment, according to an internal department document that argued the only way to get other countries to send medical teams to West Africa is to promise that the U.S. will be the world’s medical backstop.

Some countries “are implicitly or explicitly waiting for medevac assurances” before they will agree to send their own medical teams to join U.S. and U.N. aid workers on the ground, the State Department argues in the undated four-page memo, which was reviewed by The Washington Times.

“The United States needs to show leadership and act as we are asking others to act by admitting certain non-citizens into the country for medical treatment for Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) during the Ebola crisis,” says the four-page memo, which lists as its author Robert Sorenson, deputy director of the office of international health and biodefense.

More than 10,000 people have become infected with Ebola in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, and the U.S. has taken a lead role in arguing that the outbreak must be stopped in West Africa. President Obama has committed thousands of U.S. troops and has deployed American medical personnel, but other countries have been slow to follow.

In the memo, officials say their preference is for patients go to Europe, but there are some cases in which the U.S. is “the logical treatment destination for non-citizens.”

The document has been shared with Congress, where lawmakers already are nervous about the administration’s handling of the Ebola outbreak. The memo even details the expected price per patient, with transportation costs at $200,000 and treatment at $300,000.

A State Department official signaled Tuesday evening that the discussions had been shelved.

“There is no policy of the U.S. government to allow entry of non-U.S. citizen Ebola-infected to the United States. There is no consideration in the State Department of changing that policy,” the official said.

Another official said the department is considering using American aircraft equipped to handle Ebola cases to transport noncitizens to other countries.

“We have discussed allowing other countries to use our medevac capabilities to evacuate their own citizens to their home countries or third-countries, subject to reimbursement and availability,” the second department official said.

The internal State Department memo is described as “sensitive but unclassified.” A tracking sheet attached to it says it was cleared by offices of the deputy secretary, the deputy secretary for management, the office of Central African affairs and the medical services office.

A call to the number listed for Mr. Sorenson wasn’t returned Tuesday.

Mr. Obama has been clear about his desire to recruit medical and aid workers to fight Ebola in Africa.

“We know that the best way to protect Americans ultimately is going to stop this outbreak at the source,” the president said at the White House on Tuesday, praising U.S. aid workers who are already involved in the effort. “No other nation is doing as much to make sure that we contain and ultimately eliminate this outbreak than America.”

About half of the more than 10,000 cases in West Africa have been fatal.

Prime Minister directly addresses unprecedented personal attack by US officials, vows to 'continue defending Israel.'

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has responded directly to personal attacks made against him by "senior US officials" in a report published Tuesday evening.

Speaking at a special Knesset session marking 13 years since the assassination of Tourism Minister Rehava'am Ze'evi (also known by his nickname "Ghandi") by Palestinian terrorists, Netanyahu began by addressing the comments, in which an Obama administration official referred to him as "chickens**t", as well as concerns over an unprecedented crisis in US-Israel relations.

The PM added that despite claims to the contrary relations with Washington were still going strong.

"I respect and value our relations with the United States. The strategic alliance between the countries continues and will continue," he said.

Addressing those present - including members of Ze'evi's family - Netanyahu related to the existential challenges faced by the State of Israel, and issued a veiled dismissal of accusations that Israeli construction for Jews in Jerusalem is somehow the main impediment to a peace agreement.

"Israel faces an attack against its right to exist. There are those who dispute the relationship between the people of Israel and its land. There are those who are not ready to (accept) the right of our nation to its own nation-state. This was, and will always be, the root of the conflict."

The PM also remark on the irony of "those who accuse the soldiers of the IDF of war crimes, at a time when we are defending ourselves with unparalleled morality."

He noted that Ze'evi himself had always been quick to jump to the defense of the IDF, and had noted that "the IDF is the only army in history to conquer the Temple Mount and not destroy the places of worship there."

'We are extremely concerned' about where government demands are going

islam_dominate_world

New British government threats that a Christian school, which previously was rated “good” and “excellent,” may be closed if it doesn’t promote “other faiths” are based on new regulations that need to be reviewed, according to school officials.

WND reported the U.K.’s official education inspector told an independent Christian school that it is out of step with “British values” prescribed by the government and must invite someone from another faith, such as a Muslim imam, to lead assemblies or it risks being closed.

The threat comes amid a series of new school inspections imposed by the government in response to a “Trojan horse” scandal in which several public schools in Birmingham, England, were taken over by Muslim managers who imposed Islamic education standards.

The U.K.’s Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills, known as Ofsted, then established new rules requiring the active promotion of “British values” such as tolerance.

Consequently, the government sent a letter to Trinity Christian School in Reading that it was failing to “meet the new requirements for the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils.”

But that was only months after the government’s inspection of the program found the school “good” in most categories.

And on the topic at hand, the government report, as of November 2013, said: “The provision for pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is excellent. Every care is taken to provide pupils with plentiful opportunities to enhance their spiritual understanding and development through the biblically based curriculum and daily Christian assemblies that are in keeping with the ethos of the school. … Pupils are well prepared for life in modern, multicultural, democratic British society through the teaching of the Christian principle to ‘love thy neighbor’ as found for example in the teaching of the biblical story of the Good Samaritan.”

The nonprofit British charity Christian Institute has said it may mount a legal challenge to the changes.

And now in a letter to Secretary of State for Education Nicky Morgan, John Charles, chairman of the school’s governors, said: “We cannot understand how such a change in thinking can take place within a year. It is an explicit aim of ours to encourage pupils to serve and respect other people, appreciate different cultures and ideas and equip them for life in society. But the comments made by Ofsted, as a result of the new regulations, undermine our aims and would prevent us from teaching in accordance with our Christian foundation.”

Ofsted’s inspector told the Christian school “that representatives of other faiths should be invited to lead assemblies and lessons in order for the school to demonstrate compliance.”

The school also needed to provide evidence that it “actively promoted other faiths.”

Teaching that “all people are equal before God and have inherent dignity as human beings” isn’t enough, the inspector said.

Charles wrote: “We are therefore extremely concerned about where the new school standards leave the protections afforded by the Equality Act and our school’s charitable objects as established in its trust deed. We would be very grateful if you would look into this matter for us and review your decision regarding the new regulations.”

He pointed out that the inspector never even asked questions about the curriculum but focused entirely on having the Christian school promote “other faiths.”

Simon Calvert, deputy director of the Christian Institute, said: “Christian schools like Trinity have a reputation for high standards and well-rounded pupils and they should have the freedom to continue doing what they’ve always done. Parents clearly want such schools to thrive, and the Department for Education should too.”

He noted that the institute had warned the government that the new regulations would result in “enforcing political correctness.”

“We also said there would be hostility to the religious, and ethical, viewpoints of religious schools. The DfE said it would never happen, but since then we’ve been finding case after case where that’s exactly what’s going on.”

He continued: “What we need is to go back to the drawing board to actually talk to stakeholders, talk to faith schools, find out where they’re coming from and come up with a set of proposals which don’t require them to promote beliefs which profoundly go against their own,” he said.

WND reported the new government requirements also have come under fire from the National Association of Jewish Orthodox Schools, which said it was “appalled” by the demands.

WND also reported the education rules were being blamed for requiring teachers to “challenge” the religious beliefs of parents “in the name of equality.”

The institute said a report from Peter Clarke, the former chief of counter-terrorism for the Metropolitan Police, said school children in the “Trojan Horse” schools were encouraged to express vocal support for anti-Christian remarks and Christmas was banned.

The report found a “coordinated, deliberate and sustained action, carried out by a number of associated individuals, to introduce an intolerant and aggressive Islamic ethos into a few schools in Birmingham.”

But the institute said the reaction was an overreach, and the rules call for teachers to “actively promote” the rights defined in the Equality Act 2010, including sexual orientation and transsexual rights.

The schools also “will be required to challenge parents” on their values if they contradict what the government has determined is “equality,” a legal analysis concluded.

Another Christian College Wins Injunction Over Birth Control Mandate

Another Christian university has won an injunction against the Obama administration’s birth control mandate and its ever-changing exemptions for it.

Ave Maria School of Law, a Catholic law school, first sued the Department of Health and Human Services in 2013 for its “religious accommodation” for religious non-profits who argue Obamacare’s wide mandate that employers must provide 20 kinds of birth control violates their religious beliefs.

Now they won’t be required to comply with the mandate or the Obama administration’s current exemption for religious nonprofits until pending lawsuits against the exemption are ultimately decided, according to a United States District Court in Florida. The school was facing millions in fines that would have taken effect this weekend without the injunction.

The Obama administration has been struggling with setback after setback on its contraceptive mandate. A series of unfavorable court decisions has forced the administration to change its formulation for the mandate, a centerpiece of the health-care law, several times in a row. According to the conservative Becket Fund, which serves as legal counsel in a number of lawsuits against the mandate including Ave Maria’s, that’s the eighth revision to the mandate so far.

The Supreme Court itself ruled this past summer the mandate itself violated the Religious Freedom Restoration Act in the case of closely held companies. Shortly after, the Court granted an injunction to Wheaton College, a Christian institution, which is battling the mandate’s exemption.

The mandate requires employers to provide 20 types of contraception at no cost to employees. After outcry against that strict requirement, the administration created an exemption for some religious non-profits that forced them to notify their insurance company third-party administrator of their objection — and then the insurer would be forced to cover the cost of the free contraception.

The Supreme Court’s injunction in Wheaton’s case shook the administration into fearing that even their exemption could be struck down on the grounds of religious freedom. So they came up with another formulation with yet another bureaucratic layer — instead of notifying insurers, now employers have to notify HHS that they object to providing the 20 types of contraception and HHS will be the ones to tell insurers that they have to pay up.

Ave Maria won’t have to provide birth control coverage or notify a third-party administrator and won’t be fined until an appeal in a similar lawsuit, from Christian television network EWTN, concludes.

“After dozens of court rulings, the government still doesn’t seem to get that it can’t force faith institutions to violate their beliefs,” Eric Baxter, senior counsel for the Becket Fund, said in a statement. “Fortunately, the courts continue to see through the government’s attempts to disguise the mandate’s religious coercion. We congratulate Ave Maria for its courage, even under the threat of crippling fines.”
