Watch Ye Therefore, and Pray Always - Luke 21:36

Morning Meditation

Let us never release the girdle from around our loins, nor throw ourselves listlessly upon the bank to drink, whilst the enemy may be stealing up against the wind. It is the art of our great enemy to fill the air with the heavy breath of the poppy; that, like the lotus-eaters of the old legend, we may be indisposed for the perils and toils of our onward journey.

Watch ye in the season of festivity. - When merry voices fill the chamber with mirth, and jokes pass; old stories are retold; quaint anecdotes circulated - remember to look frequently up into the Master's face, to discover if aught has covered it with shame, or filled it with regret. Let not your heart be overcharged with surfeiting drunkenness.

Watch ye in hours of stress and anxiety. These will come between the soul and Christ, oppressing us with anxious care, leading us to think too much of the things which are seen and transient, and filling our hearts with dismay, as though the future would find us orphans and homeless, because the storm had swept away some few gatherings of the earth's perishable stores. When stocks are falling, business declining, competition increasing-Watch! Make supplication! Stand before the Son of Man as those whom He cannot forget or forsake.

Watch ye in seasons of tender lave. - We wear armor abroad, but when we come within the closed door of the home, and our hearts expand beneath the genial warmth of kindred natures, how apt we are to cry, Now, surely, we may unbend, ungird, and let nature have free course. But the Master says, Watch ye at every season; and He reminds us that we never cease to stand before the Son of Man.

Google Has Scrubbed Their Search Engine Of All Opposing Views On Chemtrails, Showing Only Results That Promote Official Gov’t Narrative
I live here in America’s oldest city of Saint Augustine, in the perpetually-sunny state of Florida. Multiple times per week, for the past 9 years, I have watched with amused fascination as airplanes fly in a weaving pattern, criss-crossing each other while their planes emit a dense, white trail. This trail, from here on referred to as a chemtrail, is not the same as the normal contrail that is produced when planes fly. A ‘condensed vapor trail’, or contrail, is thinner and dissipates within seconds after the plane has passed.

Federal Judge Smacks Univ. of Iowa for 'ludicrous' Anti - Christian Discrimination

News Image

In July, 2018, the University of Iowa and its officials restricted from its campus Intervarsity Christian Fellowship (ICF), along with some other religious groups. This was because ICF had the audacity to require that its campus group leaders were Christians.

Last week, "A federal court ruled University of Iowa officials must pay out of their own pockets for discriminating against a prominent Christian student group, calling the university's conduct 'ludicrous' and 'incredibly baffling' during a hearing last week."

Twisting the Meaning of Discrimination

The issue was that the university had no problem allowing secular groups on campus to make specific requirements about who could be in leadership. But when it came to a Christian group, to do so was considered discriminatory.

Thankfully, Judge Stephanie M. Rose of a U.S. district court recognized that it was the university that was being discriminatory, holding the officials personally responsible.

It was the university that was being discriminatory.

And what, exactly, did the university do to ICF? Fox News reports, "The university limited the Christian group's access to campus after being there for over 25 years, froze its bank account, shut down its website and advertised that it was 'defunct' for lack of student interest, according to court documents. This violated the Christian group's free speech and free exercise rights, the court ruled."

Talk about an ugly, totalitarian action. And all because a Christian group required that its leaders be Christians.

Judge Calls University Official's Actions "Incredibly Baffling"

But it was not just the Christian group against which the university discriminated. Quite the contrary.

Instead, after the court warned the university not to discriminate against another Christian group earlier last year, the officials decided to become equal opportunity offenders, kicking out Muslim and Sikh groups as well.

No wonder the judge called their actions "incredibly baffling."

Just think:

A Democratic club can require that its leaders be Democrats.

A Republican club can require that its leaders be Republican.

A Greek club can require that its leaders be Greek.

A Japanese club can require that its leaders be Japanese.

A swimming club can require that its leaders be swimmers.

An animal rights club can require that its leaders be vegans.

An environmental activist club can require that its leaders be global warming adherents.

And the list goes on and on.

How Can You Lead a Group You Don't Agree With?

As an Admissions page on the university website announces, "Choose from nearly 500 organizations, ranging from Aikido to Dance Marathon, or start your own group!"

Perhaps there are even atheists' clubs on campus too? If so, we can be sure that the group leaders are required to be atheists, and there is nothing discriminatory about this. In fact, it is simple, common sense.

Anyone can attend a group's meetings, since they are open to the public. Agreement is not required. But to lead the group -- really, any group -- it is necessary that you share that group's goals. Otherwise, how can you lead it?

But in the twisted, anti-Christian, anti-religious mindset of these university officials, Christians were being discriminatory if they forbade an atheist from being one of their leaders. Can you even imagine this?

It would sound something like this, "Hey, my name is Evan, and I don't believe in God. Personally, I hate the Jesus story and think the Bible is filled with dangerous myths. I also think Christians are idiots.

"And, with that introduction, welcome! I'm here to lead this Christian fellowship meeting today, where followers of Jesus come together to be strengthened and edified."

Right!

Irrational Tyranny Will Backfire

In the same way, the university could have required this same Christian group to have Muslims and Sikhs and Jews on their leadership team, just as they would have required one of these other groups to have Christian leaders on their team.

"Hi, I'm Angela, and I'm a Christian. I don't believe the Quran is God's Word, but I do believe the Bible is. And I'm here to tell you why I believe Jesus is the Son of God. With that introduction, let me welcome all my Muslim friends to this Muslim student gathering."

What?

Perhaps, however, what the University of Iowa did was not just "ludicrous" and "incredibly baffling." Perhaps it was something even worse. Perhaps it was anti-Christian and anti-religious animus that provoked their actions.

Hatred has a way of making people act irrationally, even highly educated people. But their irrational actions will be called out. This type of tyranny will backfire in the end.

So, may the campuses of America take heed. The push back will not stop.

Dangerous Trends: More Than Half of Americans Want Government to Censor Speech

The results of a new survey are truely disturbing.  More than half of Americans want themselves, others, and the media censored by the government.

Unfortunately, instead of learning from history, people are actually asking for a repeat of Nazi Germany or the gulags of the Soviet Union.

The First Amendment, which guarantees Americans freedom of speech, should be overhauled to reflect current cultural norms, according to 51 percent of the respondents to a survey published by the Campaign for Free Speech.

The campaign is hoping to call attention to the dire state of Americans' preeminent civil rights with the poll, which breaks down opposition along gender, race, class, and educational lines.

History will continue to repeat until humans learn the lessons of the past.  Censorship is always necessary for tyranny to thrive.

The younger respondents were, the more they supported overhauling the law to restrict speech.

However, college graduates were the least likely of all educational groupings to support the restrictions, indicating that the increasingly regulated speech environment at American universities may be backfiring in some cases and producing adults who cherish their rights because they know what it's like to be deprived of them.

What was also horrifying, is that over half of millennials believe "hate speech" should be against the law, though no definition of "hate speech" was given (and indeed the definition tends to vary given the time and place but Christians can be guaranteed Biblical views of morality will be considered "hate") during the survey.

Most of those who want a ban on such speech consider jail time an appropriate penalty, although female respondents were the least supportive of such draconian sentencing.

And it isn't just the free speech of their fellow Americans that some people want to be censored.  They also want what is essentially, state-owned media.

In fact, 57 % of respondents support government action against "newspapers and TV stations that publish content that is biased, inflammatory, or false," with nearly half of those agreeing such offenses should carry a jail sentence.

That means the government will get to decide the official narrative, and those who have evidence otherwise or dare to speculate against the government would be kidnapped and forced to spend time in jail.

The media is not particularly well-liked in 2019, with the average American trusting the press less even than lawyers and members of Congress, and people over 65 years-old were the only group in which the majority opposed punitive government regulation.

But using the government to force the media to parrot the official narrative will only result in absolute brainwashing without any resemblance of the free-thinking that made society great left.

A majority of Americans want the government to decide what the truth is and then punish those who disagree.

If that sounds a lot like Communism your right but try telling that to today's youth.

Another survey recently conducted by the Victims of Communism and polled by the research and data firm YouGov, found that 70% of Millennials are likely to vote socialist and that one in three Millennials perceive communism as "favorable".

This is our future if something doesn't change soon.

90 Years After Black Monday: Three Things You Didn?t Know About Crash of 1929
Oct 30th, 2019
Commentary
SIMON BLACK/ACTIVIST POST
Categories: Warning

News Image

October 28, 1929 - 90 years ago today -  is known as 'Black Monday' in financial circles.

The US stock market had peaked the previous month, on September 3, 1929, with the Dow Jones stock index reaching a record high of 381.

But throughout September and October, nervous investors began pulling their money out of the market.

And over a three-day period in late October (including Black Monday), the market lost more than 30% of its value.

Ninety years later, I thought it would be prudent to look at three key insights from that historic crash, starting with:

1) Stocks are more overvalued today than they were in 1929

Back in 1929, the price/earnings ratio of the average company trading on the New York Stock Exchange was about 15.

In other words, investors were willing to pay $15 per share for every $1 of the average company's profit.

That's not high at all. In fact, a Price/Earnings ratio of 15 is completely in line with historic averages.

Coca-Cola's Price/Earnings ratio back in 1929 ranged between 15 and 18. Today it's 30... meaning that investors today are willing to pay roughly twice as much for each dollar of Coke's annual profit.

Coca-Cola is actually quite an interesting case study.

If we just go back a few years to 2010, Coca-Cola's annual revenue was $35 billion. By 2018 the company's annual revenue had fallen to less than $32 billion.

In 2010, Coca-Cola generated $5.06 in profit (earnings) per share. In 2018, just $1.50.

And Coca-Cola's total equity, i.e. the 'net worth' of the business, was $31 billion in 2010. By 2018, equity had fallen to $19 billion.

So over the past eight years, Coca-Cola has lost nearly 40% of its equity, sales are down, and per-share earnings have fallen by 70%.

Clearly the company is in far worse shape today than it was eight years ago.

Yet Coke's share price has nearly DOUBLED in that period.

Crazy, right?

It's not just Coca-Cola either; the Price/Earnings ratio of the typical company today is about 50% higher than historic averages.

(This means that the stock market would have to drop by 50% for these ratios to return to historic norms.)

It's clear that investors are simply willing to pay much more for every dollar of a company's earnings and assets than just about ever before, including even right before the crash of 1929.

2) Stocks fell by nearly 90% in 1929... and it took decades to recover.

The 'crash' wasn't isolated to Black Monday.

From the peak in September 1929, stocks ultimately fell nearly 90% over the next three years. The Dow bottomed out in 1932 at just 42 points.

42 is lower than where the Dow was trading in 1885... so the crash wiped out DECADES of growth. And it took until November 1954 for the Dow to finally surpass its high from 1929.

If that were to happen today, it means the Dow would fall to just 2,700... a level it hasn't seen since the early 1990s. And it wouldn't return to today's highs until the mid 2040s.

Most people think this is completely preposterous.

And to be fair, I think the government and central bank will do everything in their power to prevent a severe crash.

The Federal Reserve has already announced that it will print another $60+ billion per month, which should be favorable for the stock market in the short term.

But just because we can't imagine something happening doesn't mean it can't happen. In fact it's happening right now in Japan:

Japan's stock market peaked in late 1989 with its Nikkei index reaching nearly 39,000.

Within a few years the Nikkei had lost half of its value and would ultimately fall by 80%.

Even today, thirty years later, the Nikkei index is still 40% below its all-time high.

There is no law that requires the stock market to go up. It can fall. And it can stay low for years... even decades.

3) Adjusted for inflation, stocks have returned just 1.7% per year since 1929.

It's best to think long term about any investment. Businesses take time to grow and expand, and patient investors who understand this tend to do well.

But when thinking about the long term, it's imperative to consider the extraordinary effects of inflation.

Every single year your money loses around 2% of its value. But over time those small bites of inflation fester into a major chunk of your investment gains.

Consider that, even according to the federal government's monkey math, the US dollar has lost 94% of its value since 1929.

So even though the Dow is more than 70x higher than it was in mid-1929, when you consider the effects of inflation, stocks are only about 5x higher over the past 90 years.

That works out to be an average annualized return of just 1.7%.

Even over the past 20 years- if you go back to late 1999, the stock market has only returned about 2.2% per year when adjusted for inflation.

Think about all the risks and wild market swings that investors have had to deal with over the past 20 years- all for a measly 2.2%.
