When the Jewish people declared Israel to be an Independent State in 1948, the Arab Nations around her urged the Palestinians living in Israel to flee the country until the Jews were destroyed. They would then be able to return to their homes.
An estimated 400,000 to 750,000 Arabs left Israeli-controlled territory in 1948 and 1949. They, along with millions of their descendants now claim the right to return to Israel.
The result of such a return, would, combined with Arabs already living in Israel, give the Arabs a majority in the Democratic State of Israel. Such a majority would spell the end of the State of Israel as a home for the Jews.
The Arab League in the 1950s passed a resolution stating that no Arab Government would grant citizenship to Palestinian refugees, keeping them in squalid refugee camps for over a half of a century, when they could have easily assimilated them. Arabs had no compassion for fellow Arabs, using them rather as bargaining chips against Israel. And yet today the world holds Israel responsible for the plight of Palestinians in the Refugee Camps.
The other side of the coin is that about 850,000 Jews who, under Arab pressure, left their homes in Arab lands and had their homes, lands and assets confiscated. Their assets in those Arab countries are estimated at more then $300 billion dollars. The Arab League urged Arab governments to fascilitate the exit of Jews from Arab countries, a resolution which was carried out with a series of punitive measures and discriminatory decrees making it untenable for Jews to stay in those countries.
Israel took in those Jewish refugees, assimilated them an enabled them to prosper. There seems to be a great contradiction in this whole matter of refugees!
French Prime Minister Nicolas Szarkozy has rightly stated, that it is unrealistic to expect Israel to grant the right of return to the Palestinians.
The so-called Peace process goes on and on with Israel making concession after concession, receiving nothing in return except more terror attacks and rockets and missiles. It seems this so-called Peace Process will not end until Israel has made the last concession and is no more!
Man will not have the last say in this matter, the Lord will carry out His purposes.
