"And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are they thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints."
Recall that when Israel fled from Egypt, Pharoah was set to destroy them, and God opened up the sea and they escaped. In the process God drowned Pharoah and his army in the sea. They were free at last, free after 400 years, free from slavery and bondage. We read then that Moses and all Israel sang a song of victory. That's what happens in heaven at this point.
"The song of the Lamb, saying great and marvellous are thy works", their song exhalts Christ! Some people say, I can worship a God of love, but I can't worship a God of judgment. As we look at all the judgments of the book of Revelation it leaves us with heavy hearts. Notice, these people have seen it all from the very midst of it. They have witnessed at close hand. What do they say about the judgments of God? Do they say God is unfair, no, they say, "Just and true are are thy ways thou king of saints" The judgments of God are fully deserved and it would be unfair if they were not poured out. These saints are now in heaven and they are seeing God's judgments from a heavenly perspective. They can see clearly that sin is such an afront to a Holy God.
Notice the two names ascribed to God. Lord God Almighty, our Heavenly Father is the Sovereign Lord of the universe. The creator and sustainer of all things.
King of Saints, this Almighty God is my heavenly Father, my intimate friend and my King.
Verse 4 looks ahead to the millenium, "Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? For thou only art holy; for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest."
This is a forward look into the millenial kingdom. He is absolutely Holy and Just and as a result all nations shall come and worship before Him. This is the fulfilment of Phillipians 2:9-11, the nations will recognize Him to be what He really is after so many years of dishonoring Him and disobeying him.
The Preparations for the Vial Judgments
"And after this I looked and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened." Verse 5:
This is the scene in heaven. We see God's dwelling place, where He is approached and worshipped and the place from which He issues His righteous judgments.
Remember the Tabernacle in the wilderness was patterned after the true Tabernacle in Heaven where God dwells.
"The Tabernacle ..... in heaven was opened", heaven is opened. We are now being made aware that the vial judgments are coming directly from the hand of God. Remember that the seal judgments came from God through the hands of men. The trumpet judgments came from God through the hand of Satan. These final bowel judgments come directly from the hand of God. They will be the ultimate in severity and will fill up, or complete, the wrath of God as far as earthly judgments are concerned.
