“The Mystery of Iniquity (or Why Does Evil Continue to Grow?)”

Sin came into the world when Lucifer beheld the glory and majesty of God and beheld how God was worshipped. He said in his heart, I want to be worshipped like the Most High God. I want to rule like the God rules and I want the glory God receives.

In his rebellion he led one third of the angels of heaven to rebel against God. Then he proceeded to tempt Adam to disobey God. When Adam disobeyed God his sin corrupted the whole human race which was in his loins. All those born of Adam’s race have been and will be born with Adam’s sin nature. Paul said, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

Sin is the primary destructive force in the universe. The world we look upon today is cursed buy sin. Look carefully at the world today and you will agree with that statement. Everywhere we look today we see the defilement and corruption of sin. Paul said, “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain until now” (Romans 8:23).

Men downplay the importance of sin but God says He is angry with the wicked every day. God hates sin and will not allow it to go unpunished. But God made a way of escape for men. He punished His own Son on the cross of Calvary for the sins of all men. “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit” (1 Peter 3:18).

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed” (1 Peter2:24).

Though God has provided a remedy for man’s sin only a few seem to come in repentance and faith to receive the gift of eternal life.

Sin grows and grips the hearts of men. Sin also hardens the hearts of men as they continue to practice it. Down over the ages this principle has been observed as God allows man to exercise his God given free will. Paul tells us that as the age comes to a close sin and rebellion against God will grow.

In fact Paul tells us that in the tribulation period that God will allow Satan to be totally unrestrained and sin will reach its final and full potential. We see this in 2 Thessalonians 2:6-7, “And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth (restraineth) will let, until he be taken out of the way.” We are nearing the hour when sin will be totally unrestrained. Jesus said that in the last days evil would grow and expand. “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold” (Matthew 24:12).

We are living in the days that evil is expanding and growing. All around us sin and rebellion against God and His Word is exploding. Paul told us about this hour, he told us that iniquity would abound in these last days and evil men would grow worse and worse deceiving and being deceived.

Today we are seeing evil men not only practicing evil but forcing evil upon others. The Ontario government is forcing upon children a program that exposes all school children to sexual perversion.

The Peel Board of Education has declared that there will be no exemptions to opt out of gender identity classes. Evil people in high places are forcing evil upon the children of Ontario. They are usurping the rights of parents and forcing perversion on the children of others. The sweet liberty we once enjoyed is now gone, people in days gone by came to this land to escape the tyranny of abusive governments.

In Quebec it is the same story as the province introduces the same kind of program with the statement that there will be no exemptions. They are usurping the rights of the people.

In other areas people are being forced to accept gay marriage or suffer under the law which has been perverted.

To show the extent of this whole scenario we learn that in the current federal election campaign the leader of the New Democratic Party, Thomas Mulcair, has stated that evangelical Christians are un-Canadian because they do not support gay marriage. The forces of evil cannot tolerate those who resist evil.

Evil is like yeast, it grows and grows until it fills the pan or it fills all of society around it. That is what is happening in our land today.

In every area of our nation evil is exploding. As we watch the news on TV the commercials flash before our eyes. We see violence, killing, war, sensuality, immorality and perversion. We are reminded of Romans 1:32, “Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”

How we have watched in dismay as we have witnessed this growth of evil in the lives of men and families, societies and of nations. I repeat that sin is primary and most destructive force in the universe.

Sin will cost you more than you ever thought you would pay..

Sin will keep you longer than you ever thought you would stay..

Sin will take you farther than you ever thought you would stray.

This is sadly true of our many in our beloved land of Canada.

Have we as a nation arrived at the place of reprobation where we can no longer discern between good and evil?
