“Seven wonderful promises pt. 2 - Exploring Revelation”

Last week we discovered that the Lord gave Seven Wonderful Promises to the Seven Churches of Revelation chapters two and three. We also discovered that all seven promises are for all believers.

The first promise was Physical Eternal Life. The second promise involves Eternal Spiritual Life. The third promise has three parts to it, we have looked at the first two parts.

This week we begin by looking at the third part of the Third Promise.

A NEW NAME - "In the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving He that receiveth it."

At the Judgment Seat of Christ, we will give an account of our stewardship. We will lose rewards for our failure to be and do what our Lord required. We will receive rewards for our faithfulness in doing what our Lord required. Every believer will receive some rewards and hear our Lord say, "Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter into the Joy of Thy Lord." 1 Cor. 4:5.

Then as we stand before our Lord, He will give us a White Stone . "Notice what is on that stone, a new name written." God is in the business of changing names. He changed Peter's name, He changed Jacob's name, He changed Abraham's name and Paul's name. Each name change has to do with a change of character and ministry. Each new name described a new character, the name change reflected what was seen to be valuable in the Lords eyes.

The Lord is going to give to you and I who are His children a New Name That name will convey to me FIRST a character that is precious to Christ. SECOND, a purpose of Christ for me in Eternity.

All of that speaks of an intense personal relationship. "WHICH NO MAN KNOWETH SAVING HIM THAT RECEIVETH IT." The Lord and I are going to share this intimate secret, we will share this special purpose He has for me in Eternal Ages. We see an intense personal relationship that will go on for all of Eternity.

Do you know what that creates in my heart? That creates in me here and now a desire to enter into a sweet, intimate relationship with Jesus.

PROMISE NO. 4

WE WILL REIGN WITH CHRIST.

"TO HIM WILL I GIVE POWER OVER THE NATIONS" Rev. 2:26 "If we suffer, we shall also reign (have authority) with Him." 11 Tim.2:12 "And hast made us unto our God Kings and Priests: and we shall reign on the earth." Rev.5:10 During the Millenial Kingdom we will be given authority over nations, cities or towns. We will reign on the earth with Christ.

The world which has despised and killed God's people will see who is on the right side after all. Don't be discouraged about what is going on in this world, our day will come. "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty Hand of God, that He may exhalt you in due time." 1 Pet. 5:6

Those who are ruling the world today are making a mess of it. As we rule with Christ the world will be made right. What a wonderful promise to rule and reign with Christ!

PROMISE NO. 5

We will be presented to the Father as Christ's Bride. "I will confess His Name before my Father, and before the Angels" Rev.3:5 The Lord Jesus is going to dress us up and present us to the angels and to God the Father. Jesus will say, "this is my bride - I have purchased her with My blood - She is Holy and without blame - I love them - they are precious to Me.

When we got saved we had no idea of the glory and wonder and blessing of what we had entered into!! Have You Been Saved?

PROMISE NO. 6

Please read Rev. 3:12. We are now dealing with truth that our finite minds cannot fully comprehend, we cannot grasp the Glory that awaits us. Please read 2 Cor. 12: 2,4 What Paul saw could not be told, there are no words to describe the Glories of Heaven. "A pillar in the Temple of my God, a pillar in the Heavenly Spiritual Temple! You can think of that until your mind has to back off.

"He shall go no more out," Eternal Glory. The High Priest couldn't remain in the Holy of Holies, which was just a type - but we will remain in God's presence for Eternity!

Then follows three wonderful things. Upon our garments will be emblazoned three marks of Glorious Identification:

@THE NAME OF OUR SAVIOR

"And I will write upon him the name of my God", We will be His precious treasure, He will cherish us. Think of that!

@OUR HEAVENLY CITIZENSHIP "and the name of the city of my God" We won't be visitors, we wil be home, heaven will be ours.

@OUR OWN NEW NAME, "and I will write upon him my new name" Our own distinctive new name selected and given by Christ Himself. Then the secret will be revealed, the whole of heaven will see it, but only Christ and I will know all of the meanng and purpose and love behind it.

Heaven will be a Marvelous Place far beyond our human comprehension. 1 Cor. 2:9 Oh the wonder of it all!!

PROMISE NO. 7

TO SIT WITH CHRIST ON HIS THRONE. "sit with me in My throne" vs.21 It just keeps getting more amazing - wonderful - profound - incredible.

To sit with Christ on his throne, that defies the imagination. We are talking about the Creator of the Universe, The Lord of all the vast creation. (see Heb. 12:2 - Eph. 2: 5,6.)

We have such a High, Holy, Heavenly calling - it ought to be reflected in our lives in the here and now! God's Program is the separation of His people - separation from the world - separation unto Himself. That's our calling here and now in this world..
