"And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night." Revelation 12:10. Last week we saw how Satan was defeated and cast out of heaven.
It is amazing how God could and would allow Satan to stand before Him in heaven for thousands of years. During all of those years Satan was constantly accusing God's people of their sin, standing in the presence of God and railing against us. We have a grand insight into the patience and longsuffering of God. We have an insight into the heart of sin, refusing to repent no matter how much grace of God is extended, that is why hell is forever. We have a reminder that God's purposes will be carried out in God's time.
We remind you that there are three heavens. The heaven which is the dwelling place of God, the heaven of the heavens. There is the stellar heavens and there is the atmospheric heavens, Satan is cast down out of all three, he is cast into the earth. At this point, the mid-trib, Christ now reigns supreme in all three heavens. The battle for the earth is now about to begin, it will last 3 1/2 years and Satan will then be cast down into the lake of fire.
"Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God", what rejoicing in heaven, at long last God is now moving to terminate the kingdom of darkness. The war is now in its final battle, victory is now unfolding, men and angels are beginning to see what God saw from the moment that Satan usurped God's authority. Oh that men today might see and realize that they are on the losing side.
Today, the men of this world are in a rage against God and His Word, everything God says in His Word men rebel against. They mock what God says about sin and about judgment, there is not a jot or a tittle of God's Word that they do not defy. God has a payday and it is not on Friday, we are called to be patient unto the coming of the Lord.
In verse 11, we see the saints in heaven rejoicing as Satan is cast out of their presence, this fills them with great joy. In their rejoicing they are reminded how they overcame the evil one. "They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb," this is the only way sin can be overcome, apart from the blood of Christ being applied to the heart by faith, there is no escaping fires of hell.
There is another escape involved in this text, an escape other than an escape from the eternal punishment for sin. There is an escape that every true believer longs for, it is escape from the power of sin in our daily lives. Two things are listed as being the way to victorious living.
FIRST- The word of their testimony. To live a life that is open and honest before the world, a life that is Holy. Such a life will move the Holy Spirit to empower us to walk in victory.
SECOND- Jesus said that a man cannot be His disciple unless he is willing to die to himself and live for Christ. To live in such a way that one would rather die that disobey or dishonour his Lord.
My friend, do not go running around looking for the secret of the victorious life, it is found in great power in these two simple things and in what they entail.
