Plague in China confirmed as 2 cases of highly-infections disease treated in Beijing
Two people in Beijing have been diagnosed with the pneumonic plague, a rare instance of the highly-contagious disease that is fatal if left untreated. The two individuals were being treated Tuesday at a hospital in China’s capital city, which is home to more than 21 million people, local authorities said. Pneumonic plague can prove fatal within 24 to 72 hours and is the “most virulent form of plague,” according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), while the bubonic form is less dangerous.

Alabama ISIS bride blocked from returning to US; judge rules ‘not a US citizen’
A federal judge ruled Thursday that an Alabama-born ISIS bride did not have valid U.S. citizenship, undercutting a key part of her efforts to return to the U.S. from Syria. Hoda Muthana, 25, is the daughter of former Yemeni ambassador to the United Nations, Ahmed Ali Muthana. According to the National Review, Judge Reggie Walton ruled that because Hoda was born while her father only had diplomatic status in the U.S., his current U.S. citizenship does not extend to her.

Hong Kong in first recession for a decade amid protests
Hong Kong has confirmed it has entered its first recession for a decade as it continues to be gripped by protests. Its economy shrank 3.2% in the July-to-September period compared with the prior quarter, figures showed, confirming earlier preliminary data. It means the economy has contracted for two quarters in a row, which is the usual definition of a recession.

Sirens sounded in Sderot and the Gaza border community of Shaar HaNegev at around 10pm. The Iron Dome missile defense system brought down two rockets over Sderot.
