IDF fires artillery shells towards Shebaa farms in Lebanon – report 
Israel fired artillery shells towards the contested Shebaa farms along the border with Lebanon on Sunday… According to the report, several shells were fired causing fires on the Lebanese side but no injuries. Israel’s Northern Command has been on high alert since last week expecting a limited strike against military targets and on Saturday a convoy of artillery was seen being moved north.

Iran unveils another new drone as part of growing arsenal 
Iran publicly unveiled yet another new drone on Sunday, part of its growing arsenal of locally produced drones and munitions. Iran has been on a surge recently in terms of showing off new military technology. It showed off a new missile defense system on August 22 and a new radar on August 10. The new drone is called Kian and is supposed to be able to carry out precision strikes against “distant targets.”

Russia says U.S. strikes in Syria’s Idlib put ceasefire at risk – reports 
The Russian military said the United States carried out air strikes in Syria’s Idlib de-escalation zone in breach of previous agreements, inflicting numerous casualties and endangering a ceasefire, Russian news agencies reported on Sunday. TASS news agency, citing the Russian defense ministry, said the United States had forewarned neither Russia nor Turkey about the strikes.

Riot police have clashed with suspected protesters in Hong Kong’s metro system after thousands marched in defiance of a ban. Protesters lit fires, threw petrol bombs and attacked the parliament building. In response, police used tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannon to disperse crowds, and fired live warning shots as they tried to clear the streets.

Trade war: US hits China with new wave of tariffs
The US has imposed fresh tariffs on $112bn (£92bn) of Chinese imported goods such as shoes, nappies and food. The new tariffs are a sharp escalation in the bruising trade war, and could cost households $800 a year. The move is the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s latest plan to place 15% duties on $300bn of Chinese imports by the end of the year.
