"I am the true vine, my Father is the husbandman" - John 15:1
There are three involved in this scenario, the "Vine" is the Lord Jesus Christ. The husbandman (the farmer) is God the Father. In verse two we have the branch who is the believer, the one who is in Christ as the branch is in the vine.
In verse two we see the work of the Father, the Father is working to ensure that the believer brings forth fruit. He is also working to cause the believer to bring forth more fruit, and then much fruit. We see the Father pruning the branch to accomplish His purpose. The interesting thing is that the Father is committed to the branch, the Father takes total responsibility for the sanctification of every believer, the responsibility of conforming the believer to the image of Christ.
Believer, sanctification is not an option, God the Father will bring about your sanctification. He will prune your life, His knife is very sharp. He will spare no pain, no trouble, no chastening, no sorrow, no tribulation to sanctify you. He has a million ways and means to accomplish His purpose. If you cooperate with your heavenly Father, the process can be a sweet and wonderful experience.
Believer you are here in this life to be sanctified. How are you making out? Can you see the Father working in your life? Paul said,"Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is" - Eph. 5:17. Brother believer, do not go through life with your eyes closed, your Heavenly Father is working in your life, be alert, be sensitive, be quick to respond, be quick to learn and you will grow in grace and become more Christlike. - Art Sadlier
