Mohammad Al Momani, Jordan's Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications, says that official media in his country is dedicated to "extensively" covering Israeli "violations", and that this coverage generally takes up to 70% of the reports, says official Jordanian news agency Petra.

Momani met on Saturday with top officials of the political parties in the kingdom, and said the official Jordanian media is "doing its best for the Palestinian cause."

He said that Israeli "violations" – Petra did not specify of what – in Jerusalem, Gaza and "Palestine," take up to "70 percent of space in most cases in the news bulletins and programs, in coverage by the Jordan News Agency (Petra) and on Jordanian television."

He noted that the Jordan ambassador to Israel is still in Amman for "consultation." Jordan withdrew its ambassador from Israel last week, following violent Arab riots on the Temple Mount.

Momani said that the party officials he met praised the kingdom's recall of the ambassador from Israel. They demanded action to ensure that the Arab and Islamic nations understand their responsibilities regarding what is happening in Jerusalem "because [Jordan] cannot shoulder the responsibility on its own."

Momani said that Jordan is witnessing a media revolution, and that there are currently about 700 radio, television station and news websites. He pointedly noted that some of them are "professional, accurate and honest," while others "do exactly the opposite of that." He said that information must be acquired "from the right place."
