Sunspots facing Earth may trigger blackouts
The area, referred to as 2205, spat out an x-ray flare that produced a moderate radio blackout today, according to the centre's website. Earlier this week, it let loose several coronal mass ejections, explosions of magnetic fields and plasma from the sun's atmosphere that can knock out power grids and disrupt navigational systems. Most of the material in today's flare, along with the earlier eruptions, was pointed away from Earth, thus sparing the planet severe storms.  

HIGH SOLAR ACTIVITY
Solar activity is intensifying. Sunspot AR2205 has unleashed at least 4 strong M-class solar flares in the past 24 hours (Nov. 5-6), and it appears that stronger explosions could be in the offing. NOAA forecasters estimate a 25% chance of X-flares on Nov. 6th.  

The mysterious ‘Big Circles’ of Mideast deserts
Containing low walls of uncut boulders, most of the circles are between a few meters and about 50 meters in diameter, though some are as big as 100 meters in diameter, Kennedy wrote. A swarm of earthquakes in a sparsely populated area of far northwest Nevada that began on July 12, 2014, has increased in intensity over the past several days. This activity is located about 40 miles southeast of Lakeview, Ore., and 40 miles northeast of Cedarville, Calif. During the past three months the Nevada Seismological Laboratory, in collaboration with the U.S. Geological Survey and seismic networks in Washington and Oregon, has recorded 42 earthquakes larger than Magnitude 3...  

Israel 'on brink of third intifada' after new car attack
Israel was feared to be descending into a third intifada on Wednesday night after a police officer was killed and 14 people injured in a car attack... A Palestinian member of the militant group Hamas rammed a truck into a crowded light rail station, backed out and then continued to drive, hitting several cars and injuring passengers and pedestrians on the street.

The former communists who ruled East Germany are set to return to power – just days before the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The Left Party, widely seen as the successor to the SED, East Germany's communist party, is expected to head the government of a German state for the first time since reunification, after the Social Democrats voted to enter a coalition with them in the state of Thuringia.  

IRS Commissioner Predicts Miserable 2015 Tax Filing Season
Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen warned that close to half the people trying to reach the IRS by phone might not get through during the upcoming 2015 tax filing season. ...Congress keeps passing laws that the IRS has to implement, namely the Affordable Care Act (“ACA”) and the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (“FATCA”)...Koskinen said the IRS requested $430 million in 2014 from Congress...but got zero...  

Ukraine crisis: Children die in Donetsk shelling
Two teenagers died and four were wounded when an artillery shell hit a school playing field as they played football in eastern Ukraine. The attack in Donetsk came as both sides in the Ukrainian conflict accused each other of tearing up a peace deal. A fragile ceasefire has been in place since 5 September, although hundreds of people have been killed since then.

Jordan complained to the United Nations Security Council about a raid by Israeli security forces on Wednesday on a sacred compound in Jerusalem housing the Al Aqsa mosque and said it would "take lawful steps and measures" to stop further attacks.  

Pakistan arrests at least 43 over 'blasphemy' killings
..at least 43 suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of a Christian couple on Tuesday. The pair were beaten to death for allegedly desecrating a copy of the Koran, before their bodies were burned in a brick kiln. Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif described the murders "an unacceptable crime." The only information given about the two victims was that they were married and named Shama and Shehzad.
