An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit the coast of Andaman islands Tuesday but there was no threat of a tsunami, officials said. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the “moderate” intensity quake hit the north Andaman island coast at 12:37 p.m.  

Small overnight quake shakes parts of Puget Sound region
A small earthquake rattled parts of the Puget Sound region overnight. The 3.5 magnitude quake struck at 4:04 a.m. It was centered three miles east of Belfair, about 13 miles deep.  

Earthquake in north-central Oklahoma felt in Tulsa area
Preliminary data indicates that a 4.0-magnitude earthquake occurred about 15 miles west-southwest of Medford just after 9:45 p.m. Monday. An Internet intensity map published by the agency shows that tremors were felt from as far away as Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Wichita, Kansas.  

Moderate 5.8-magnitude quake strikes Papua New Guinea— USGS
The quake struck at 9:00 a.m. local time (2300 GMT) at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) 70 kilometers southwest of the nearest city of Ialibu, the United States Geological Survey said.  

Early morning earthquake shakes Dillon
We immediately confirmed the 3.6-magnitude quake through the U.S Geological Survey. Monitors said the earthquake was centered about 8 miles north of Dillon. Scientists at Montana Tech said they received reports from as far east at Ennis and as far west as Salmon, Idaho.

US says Russia violated arms treaty by testing cruise missile
The United States has found that Russia violated a 1987 arms control treaty by testing a ground-launched cruise missile... The finding comes in a 2014 report that concluded Russia was in violation of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, which barred it from possessing, producing or flight-testing such cruise missiles with a range of 500 to 5,500 kilometers, the official told AFP.

IDF hits over 70 Gaza targets in overnight strikes
The IDF struck over 70 targets in Gaza overnight between Monday and Tuesday, including the home and offices of Ismail Heniyeh, head of Hamas's political wing. Both buildings were used as a command center to manage terrorism, the IDF said. Four mosques used to store weapons, a terrorism tunnel, and an underground rocket launcher located near a mosque were also attacked, the IDF added.  

Gaza's sole power plant ablaze, Palestinians blame IDF
Palestinian witnesses said Israeli tank fire hit the fuel depot of the Gaza Strip's only power plant on Tuesday, cutting electricity to Gaza City and many other parts of the Palestinian enclave of 1.8 million people. A thick column of black smoke rose from the facility, which supplies the territory with two-thirds of its energy needs, and the fuel containers were in flames.  

More Americans blame Hamas over Israel for violence, poll finds
About 4 in 10 Americans say that Hamas is most responsible for the violence while 2 in 10 put most of the responsibility on Israel, the new survey by the Pew Research Center shows. An additional 14% of respondents blamed both sides and about 3 in 10 said they did not know.  

N. Korea threatens nuclear strike on White House
A top-ranking North Korean military official has threatened a nuclear strike on the White House and Pentagon after accusing Washington of raising military tensions on the Korean peninsula.
