According to first reports, Al Qaeda gunmen stormed the campus of Anbar University in the provincial capital of Ramadi northwestern Iraq Saturday and are holding dozens of Iraqi students hostage inside the university dormitories. Some reports suggest that up to 1,000 students and teaching staff may be held. The situation is still unclear. Parts of Ramadi and Anbar province have been held by Al Qaeda's Islamic State in Iraq and Levant (ISIS) and other Islamist militants for months against the Iraqi army.
