O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. Pslam 65:2
The doorway into the secret place of the most high is always open to the soul in need. Prayer puts us in contact with God.
Someone has said, "Prayer is a conversation between the soul and heaven." It has been likened to a two way telephone conversation. I have noticed that when a person makes a call from a telephone booth he usually closes the door so that he can hear clearly. He deposits his money before he is connected to the line. Then he hears the dial tone and dials the number. The connection is completed and the business is transacted.
In our prayer time with God we need to close the door to the things of this world so that we can hear him speak. "But thou, when prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is secret." However, before we can dial the number, the price must be paid. God through His Son, paid the price that we might have access to His presence. Jesus said, "No man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6). We must accept Jesus as our personal Savior before we have the right to "dial" heaven.
We must dial correctly. There are certain prayer conditions to fulfill. "And whatever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight" (1 John 3:22). Also read Mark 11:24; John 14:14; 1 John 5:14,15.
There is an open line to heaven for us. When we have accepted God's price and fulfilled His conditions for prayer, then we can dial with confidence, knowing that God is on the line ready to hear and answer us. -- M. Stamm
