“South Texas Student Allegedly Told not to Read Bible in Class”

A teacher in south Texas has been accused of telling a student she’s not allowed to read the Bible at school.

During reading time at Hamilton Elementary School in Cypress, a young girl claims she was told that she wasn’t allowed to read the Bible and isn’t even allowed to bring one to school.

Michael Berry, an attorney with the Liberty Institute who is representing the family, says the family would like to remain anonymous.

“Those are serious allegations when it comes to our students’ constitutional rights,” said Berry. “That would clearly be a violation of the constitution, federal law and Texas state law.”
