Brazil riots: A 10000-strong protest by teachers over pay sees fire bombs
A teachers’ protest over pay turned violent in Rio de Janeiro, with masked anarchists pelting police and buildings with fire bombs and breaking into banks in scenes that will raise questions about the security of the 2014 World Cup. Teachers in Brazil have been on strike demanding better pay for almost two months and on Monday thousands of them - joined by students, anarchists and civil rights groups – marched in support of the action.  

Boehner slams ObamaCare after other GOP leaders sidestep it
Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Wednesday criticized the first week of ObamaCare as a system that threatens to fine people for failing to buy health insurance on websites that don't work.

 “How can we tax people for not buying a product from a website that doesn't work?” he asked on the House floor.

White House, IRS exchanged confidential taxpayer info
Top Internal Revenue Service Obamacare official Sarah Hall Ingram discussed confidential taxpayer information with senior Obama White House officials, according to 2012 emails obtained by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and provided to The Daily Caller. Lois Lerner, then head of the IRS Tax Exempt Organizations division, also received an email alongside White House officials that contained confidential information.

The unnamed officials were cited by Israel Radio, and spoke following high-level discussions earlier in the day between visiting British and French officials and their counterparts in Israel.

Fukushima radiation levels hit 2-year high
Seawater just outside one of Japan’s damaged Fukushima Daiichi reactors registered radiation levels on Wednesday 13 times the previous day’s reading, the operator of the crippled nuclear plant said on Thursday. Japan’s Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), said combined Cesium-134 and Cesium-137 readings just outside the damaged No. 2 reactor jumped to 1,200 becquerels per liter on Wednesday, the highest levels recorded since late 2011.  

California's Brown Signs Bill Permitting Non-Physician Abortions
The legislation, which had been pushed vigorously by Planned Parenthood, had been strongly opposed by pro-life groups and some physicians, arguing that it amounted to legalizing back-alley abortions for profit.  

Egypt condemns US decision to suspend military aid
Egypt has criticised a decision by the US to suspend a large part of the $1.3bn (£810m) in aid it receives. Foreign ministry spokesman Badr Abdelatty said the decision was wrong and Egypt would "not surrender to American pressure and is continuing on its path towards democracy".  

Closing Israeli consulate in US in order to open mission in China?
No decision is imminent on closing the Israeli Consulate in Philadelphia, or a consulate or embassy in another country, to make possible the opening of a diplomatic mission in Chengdu, a spokeswoman for Deputy Foreign Minister Ze’ev Elkin said on Wednesday. ...Elkin disagreed with senior ministry staffers who wanted to keep Philadelphia open and – if need be for budgetary purposes – close a consulate or even an embassy elsewhere.  

Poll: Majority of Israelis believe US projecting weakness on Syria, Iran
Two thirds of Jewish Israelis believe that US president Barack Obama will fail to keep his promise to prevent Iran’s development of nuclear weapons, while only 27% believe he will succeed, according to the monthly Peace Index poll taken by the Israel Democracy Institute and Tel Aviv University, which was released Thursday.
