Just as Israel seems to be escaping some pressure from Egypt troubles come from others.
Israeli officials on Tuesday July 16 slammed an EU directive that will bar all 28 member states from dealings with Jewish communities located beyond the 1949 Armistice lines, including eastern Jerusalem. This is incredible economic pressure on Israel to surrender the Judea, Samaria, the Golan Heights and East Jerusalem to the Palestinians.
If there was any hope of the Palestinians making concessions at the negotiating table it is now gone. Why should they negotiate when the EU has declared that everything the Palestinians want is to be given to them? No provision for Israel’s security is now possible in any agreement. I suspect that if the present negotiations are fruitless that it will not be long before the US and the UN will follow the EU line.
The Obama administration has shown its displeasure with Israel for acting independently in the matter of Israel’s bombing of Russian missiles in Syria. Apparently Obama likes to keep Israeli hands tied against those who would attack her and retaliates against Israel when Israel acts in her own interests. The US administration revealed that Israel had indeed been the one who bombed the Syrian weapon depot. This was a deliberate spiteful act against a so called ally.
Obama has now openly become the patron of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Debkafile’s military and Washington sources report: Israel was accused of independent military action against Syria, and also accused the Egyptian army of persecuting the Muslim Brotherhood after deposing President Mohamed Morsi.
Washington is also highly displeased with the campaign the Egyptian army launched after the coup, with Israel’s active support, to root out the Islamist terror blighting the Sinai Peninsula. US warships and marines are now parked off Egypt’s Red sea coast as a deterrent to the generals in Cairo.
It is now clear that Obama is supporting, promoting and assisting Islamic radical fundamentalists all across the Mideast. He has reacted against those who would be his allies in the Mideast. He is alienating Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States as well as working against Israel.
The Jewish people are always under pressure but when it comes from their own government and their own police force it must be discouraging. Jewish worshippers hoping to ascend the Temple Mount in commemoration of Tisha B'Av were bitterly disappointed as; once again, police prevented them from ascending.
It was reported, “Hundreds of Jewish worshippers who waited on a Tuesday morning to enter the Temple Mount were turned away by the Jerusalem Police, who informed them that the district commander had ruled that entry to the Mount is forbidden to Jews (at least during Ramadan).”
However there is a positive side to the situation. The Jewish people are now visiting the Temple Mount in ever increasing numbers. Interest in building the Third Temple is growing for the first time. It is reported that 30% of Jewish people are now in favour of rebuilding the Temple. Another first occurred last week as a member of the Knesset called for the rebuilding of the Temple. This is new development and seems to be an indication of the lateness of the hour in which we are living.
The most disappointing turn of events is the response of Israel's leaders to US Secretary of State John Kerry's peace talks. Prime Minister Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders have demonstrated cowardice in bowing to the demands of PA leader Abbas. They have for no reason agreed to release 104 Palestinians who have brutally murdered Jews. All of this grovalling just to get the Palestinians to come to the table and demand Israel's total surrender. They seem willing to surrender to all of the Palestinians demands.
These men have no faith in the God of Israel, nor do they even seem interested in knowing and doing His will.
The frightening thing is their proposal for a referendum on any decision made at the negotiating table. This is a shocking repeat of the sin of unbelief expressed by Israel at Kadesh Barnea.
At that time God had proven Himself to Israel by defeating their enemies and meeting their every need. God promised them that He would give them the victory if only they would trust Him and move in to possess the land. Their reaction is a parallel to this present situation. They decided to vote on the question and the vote was no. No, we can't trust God to keep His Word to us and make us victorious.
The ultimate result was the chastening hand of God on them in very severe way. Israel seems to have come full circle and they are standing on the threshold of the chastening of Zechariah 13:8. "And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein."
But God loves Israel and will work patiently to yet bring Isarel to the place of blessing.as found in Zechariah13:9 "And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God."
