The following news item appeared this week.
"Scientists in the US are preparing for the dramatic moment when the world's most powerful laser unleashes the nuclear force that lights up the sun and achieves ''ignition''.
At that moment, 192 laser beams housed in a building the size of three football pitches will focus on a target the size of a peppercorn to trigger a self-sustaining fusion reaction.
If all goes according to plan, this could be achieved in October. Although no more than a test of the technology, it could mark the start of a revolution that will change the science and politics of energy for ever.
Scientists have spent decades chasing the dream of fusion power, which holds out the promise of producing unlimited amounts of clean energy from hydrogen, the most abundant element in the universe."
In recent years we have heard a great deal of hand wringing that the earth cannot sustain the present population. We can't find enough energy to sustain the population, oil supplies are depleting, pollution cannot be solved. We need to reduce the earth's population, is their conclusion, but that is not God's purpose. Some have even suggested that the earth's population should be reduced to a billion people. One Canadian news columnist suggested last week that Canada should adopt a one child per family policy.
God has commanded man to "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replentish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over it:" God created the earth as a home for man and he foreknew what man would need and has placed in His creation provision for those needs. God's creation can sustain an unlimited number of people.
The above story is but one prospect of God's supply for man. Man's problem is not that adequate provision has not been placed in the earth by God, rather man's problem is his rebellion against God. We read in Amos 4:6-11 that God withdraws His hand of blessing from men because they refuse to repent and turn to Him.
Naturally the evolutionist and the atheist cannot believe or understand that God has provided within creation and that He will make provision for those obey Him. They must seek an alternative to God's program, that alternative will be a disaster.
