“Peace and Safety”

In Daniel 9:27 we are told that someday the Roman Prince, the antichrist, will come upon the world scene and sign a Peace treaty with Israel and “with many”, the whole world. We know from 1 Thess. 5:3 that this will be a short lived peace, that for Israel will last 3 ½ years.

Today the stage is set for this event to take place, the stage is set in a way we have never seen before as the following account explains.

At this moment the whole world is set against Israel, with President Obama leading the charge. The world is demanding that Israel surrender Judea, Samaria, the Golan Heights, Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. Through this sacrifice of Israel, the world hopes to appease Islam and bring about world peace. Because the world is blinded by selfishness, caring only about their own personal peace and prosperity, they cannot understand what they are doing. Another demand that the Muslim world is making, is the right of millions of Palestinian refugees to return to Israel proper. President Obama has endorsed this demand, a demand which would allow terrorists to work in the very midst of the Jewish people. The plain fact is that such a move would allow the Palestinians to vote Israel out of existence.

What the world is really demanding is the termination of the state of Israel. Israel is powerless to prevent such a fate. They do not seem to have the faith to trust and believe God to deliver them.

Today, Israel stands on the brink of extermination. The scripture gives us a different scenario, the scripture reveals that in this crisis someone will come to the rescue of Israel. Who that someone is may surprise you. Our text tells us the one who comes to Israel’s rescue is none other than the antichrist, Satan’s man.

Satan needs Israel, at least until the mid-tribulation point. Understand, Satan has always had a burning ambition to be worshipped. That ambition brought about his fall, we read about it in Isaiah 14:13-14, “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exhalt my throne above the stars (angels) of God....I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most high.”

Satan wants to be worshipped as God is worshipped. Satan wants to be worshipped instead of God and Satan wants to be worshipped in the very place that God has been worshipped, in the Temple in Jerusalem. Paul tells us about that in 2 Thess.2:4, “.....so that he (antichrist) as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God”. To accomplish that antichrist needs Israel to rebuild the temple and re-establish Temple worship. That is what is behind the Peace Treaty.

Today the world is aggressively seeking to force Israel to do that which will bring about her destruction. The stage is now set for antichrist to come to Israel’s seeming rescue and a sign the Peace Treaty.
