“Violence is filling the earth”
by Art Sadlier
December 17th, 2007

Jesus gave us some signs that would appear in the world just prior to His return. One of those signs is recorded in Mt.24:37, "But as the days of Noah were so shall also the Coming of Son of Man be."

When we examine what the world of Noah's day was like, we discover that violence was a major characteristic of that time. We read in Gen. 6:11, "The earth was filled with violence." This is repeated in verse 13. "The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence." The message is clear, violence moves the Hand of God to bring judgment upon the world.

The earth has always endured violence to greater or lesser degree. Today the level of violence in the world is unprecidented. Television screens are filled to overflowing with violence, and that violence is the major source of our societies' entertainment. Videos and Video games are filled with unimaginable violence, and again it is a major source of entertainment. Murder and rape and cruelty are viewed via T.V. in our homes hour after hour, now in High Definition. School shootings, church shootings, and shooting police officers.

In the last decade Islamic Extremists have brought violence to a level the world has never seen before. Suicide bombers, car bombs and truck bombs have killed and maimed thousands of innocent people. Aircraft blown out of the sky, killing hundreds at one time.

Genocide in Kosovo, Sudan and the Darfur Region are shocking in the extreme. The rising level of violence goes unnoticed as the world becomes more and more insensative to violence.

I would challenge you to consider the hour in which we live, the hour of violence. It is to such an hour as ours, that Jesus said, "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads for your redemption draweth nigh." Luke 21:28.

The redemption of believers (not unbelievers) in the Endtimes, refers to the Rapture of the Church. (see 1 Thess. 4:13-17 -1Cor. 15:51- 52 - John 14:2, 3.) All living believers will be caught up to heaven when the rapture takes place. Unbelievers (the unsaved) will remain on the earth to go into the awful Day of the Lord judgment that will fall upon this world.

Are you ready for that day? Are you saved? Have you ever been Born Again? If you would like to know how you can be saved, go to the Menu on this website and click on, "Have You Considered?"
