“Netanyahu is a cold-blooded killer of modern times,” Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu tweeted on Sunday as a war of words between the two countries erupted over the weekend. In a series of tweets in both Turkish and English, Causoglu repeated a number of accusations against Israel, that were first made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday as he spoke to a youth conference.

Netanyahu: IDF may expand activity against Iran in Syria after U.S. exit 
Israel may expand its operations against Iran in Syria if necessary, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the government…as he continued to try and calm fears about the pending US troop pullout from Syria. “The decision to remove the 2,000 US troops from Syria will not change our consistent policy: We will continue to act against Iran’s attempt to establish military bases in Syria, and if necessary we will even expand our operations there,” Netanyahu said.

Hundreds of Lebanese are protesting against deteriorating economic conditions as politicians are deadlocked over forming a new government. The protesters marched Sunday to the government building in central Beirut, carrying placards that called for an end to the deadlock and corruption. Some protesters sported the yellow vests worn by anti-government protesters in France.

Al-Qaeda is resurgent and seeking to carry out new terrorist atrocities against airliners and airports, the security minister Ben Wallace warned last night. The terrorist group behind the 9/11 attacks in 2001 poses a growing threat that is keeping ministers “awake at night”, he told The Sunday Times. Wallace said intelligence had revealed that al-Qaeda was developing technology to bring down passenger jets.

Ambassadors from Asia and the Pacific meet in Jerusalem 
Ten Israeli ambassadors and consuls general in Asia and the Pacific met Monday with their foreign counterparts in Jerusalem. The meeting, held as part of a diplomatic conference organized by the Foreign Ministry, was attended by senior diplomats from China, Japan, India, Vietnam, Nepal, Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Australia and Myanmar.
