Joe Biden to press Turkey over Islamic State role
US Vice-President Joe Biden is in Turkey to meet President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, aiming to push for a bigger Turkish role in the fight against Islamic State (IS). Turkey has said such a role would have to be linked with plans to remove Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Turkey has pressed for a no-fly zone in Syria but has not won US backing.  

Benghazi consulate attack: Report clears US response
A US investigation has found no wrongdoing by the Obama administration in responding to the deadly 2012 attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya. The inquiry by the Republican-run House Intelligence Committee also said there was no intelligence failure and no delay in sending a CIA rescue team. The Obama administration had been accused of mishandling its response.  

Madagascar plague outbreak kills 40, says WHO
An outbreak of plague in Madagascar has killed 40 people and infected almost 80 others, the World Health Organization has said. The WHO warned of the danger of a "rapid spread" of the disease in the capital, Antananarivo. The situation is worsened by high levels of resistance among fleas to a leading insecticide, the WHO added.  

Obama to press ahead on immigration, amid Republican anger
US President Barack Obama has said he will press for further immigration reform, after Republicans condemned his use of executive powers on the issue. Mr Obama said he had no choice but to act, accusing the Republicans of blocking a bill in Congress, and vowed to make permanent reform a reality.  

HRW: Israel's demolition of Palestinian terrorists' homes is 'war crime'
Human Rights Watch on Saturday blasted Israel's policy of demolishing the homes of suspected Palestinian terrorists as "collective punishment" and a "war crime"... The organization called for an immediate moratorium on home demolitions, saying the action leaves the families of suspected terrorists in Palestinian territories homeless and "unlawfully punishes people not accused of any wrongdoing."  

Ukraine crisis: Joe Biden warns Russia faces 'isolation'
US Vice-President Joe Biden has warned Russia faces "rising costs and greater isolation" if it fails to respect the September peace deal in Ukraine. Mr Biden, on a visit to Ukraine where he met President Petro Poroshenko, called on Russia to withdraw its military forces from Ukraine.  

US Warns Citizens To Avoid Resort Of Acapulco
The U.S. Embassy in Mexico has issued a security message warning U.S. citizens to avoid the Pacific resort of Acapulco because of violence and protests.  

Israel May Be Willing To Cede Parts Of East Jerusalem To The Palestinians
Israel’s deputy foreign minister intimated Friday that Israel would be prepared to cede sovereignty over Arab neighborhoods of East Jerusalem, which it annexed after capturing the area from Jordan in the 1967 war, as part of a permanent accord with the Palestinians.  

Nuclear talks: Iran says 'no new ideas' on table
Iran's foreign minister has said he heard "no new ideas" as talks on Tehran's nuclear programme stretched into the evening in Vienna. Mohammad Javad Zarif said he had received "no remarkable proposals to take to Tehran" after meeting US Secretary of State John Kerry for the third time in 24 hours.  

Israel says Hamas planned to assassinate Lieberman in West Bank
Israel has arrested four Palestinians suspected of planning to kill Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman with an anti-tank rocket while he drove to his Jewish settlement in the occupied West Bank, Israeli officials say.  

World War 3: Would Russia Win?
If the world really is on the brink of World War 3, which country would come out on top? An expert said not that long ago that the U.S. would lose to Russia, and with all of Russia’s shows of military strength, it appears as if Moscow thinks they can win too. Even U.S. officials appear to be concerned that Russia has surpassed Washington in nuclear capabilities, according to Forbes contributor James Conca.  

Dutch move 122 tons of gold out of US
The Dutch Central Bank says it has recently shipped 122.5 tons of gold worth around 4 billion euros ($5 billion) from safekeeping in New York back to its headquarters in Amsterdam.
