“The End of the Age”
by Art Sadlier
October 2nd, 2013

The world, as we know it, will pass away. Our world is changing with lightening speed. Scripture teaches and Jesus said that this present age will someday come to an end. Daniel used the terminology, “The time of the end.” Jesus said, “Then shall the end come.” Paul said, “In the last days.”

The Bible is filled with the message that someday the world as we know it will be terminated by the judgment of God. The flood of Noah’s day is a forewarning of the coming judgment of God on this present world. Scripture says, “But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”

The scripture also tells us that prior to this coming judgment, the Lord Jesus Christ will come to the clouds of the sky and with the sound of the trumpet call His followers to be with Him in heaven. Jesus promised this to His disciples in John 14:2-3, “In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

The apostle Paul also describes this scene in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

May I ask you an interesting question, a question I suggest you ponder as you read this pamphlet? Where will you fit into this coming end time scenario? Will you be numbered among the followers of Christ or will you remain on earth at that time to be engulfed in the judgment of God?

The scriptures tell us that as the end times descend upon the world there will be a number of signs that will indicate the nearness of Christ’s coming. Jesus said in Luke 21:28, “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”

Today we are seeing those signs beginning to be fulfilled all around us. No doubt you have noticed that we are living a world that is headed for a cataclysm of great proportions. In the last two decades we have seen 9 out of 10 the costliest insurance events in history – 6 of the 7 costliest hurricanes in US history – 3 of the largest tornado out breaks in US history – 9 of the top 10 natural disasters in US history – 2 of the largest terrorism events in US history. There is no way one can say these are just common events.  We are at the point that an end time watcher has the luxury of sighting occurrences that come with labels such as "historic", "worst" or "record".

Get Ready, Jesus is Coming

You don't have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind is blowing.  In the Book of Luke, Jesus used a weather analogy to highlight how people failed to realize that they were about to witness the revelation of the Messiah.  Their error resulted in the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Today, people are making an even bigger mistake by not comprehending that this is the generation that will see the fulfillment of the end time events.

"And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, there cometh a shower; and so it is.  And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, there will be heat; and it cometh to pass. Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?" (Luke 12:54-56)

Dr. Bill McGuire who has a PHD in Volcanology and served as a Professor of Geohazards at University College, London, England, made the following statement: "The greatest fear of Hazard Scientists and Disaster Managers is that we will shortly be faced with Global natural catastrophe of unprecedented size!  The threat of an Asteroid or Comet impact is now understood, but few appreciate that we are overdue for a Volcanic Super-Eruption big enough to freeze the planet. Other tectonic threats include earthquake "storms" powerful enough to devastate a Continent, and giant Tsunami (huge sea waves, normally generated by earthquakes) - capable of obliterating entire cities around the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans."

Scientists, Doctors and the Media, are warning of scenarios the Bible describes for the end times!

The hour is late; may I ask again, where will you fit into this end time scenario?

Please let me share the gospel with you. There are five facts from scripture you must understand in order to be saved.

Fact 1 – All men are sinners   Romans 3:23 says, “All have sinned.” 1 John 3:4 says, “Sin is the transgression of the law.” James 2:10, says, “Whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, is guilty of all.”

Fact 2 – Salvation is a free gift   Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:9, “Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Romans 6:23, “...the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Fact 3 – God is Holy and Just   Romans 1:18, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness, and unrighteousness of men...” Hebrews 9:27, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”

Fact 4 – Christ   1 Peter 2:24, “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” 1 Peter 3:18, “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.”

Fact 5 – Faith  John 3:36, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” Understand that faith involves repentance.

Both faith and repentance are heart attitudes toward God which result in actions. Faith responds in obedience toward God. Repentance responds by turning away from disobedience.

Revelation 3:20 tells how to receive Christ as your Saviour, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

Will you right now, in repentance and faith, receive Christ as your Saviour and Lord?
