When voters in Colorado's Weld County head to the polls in November, they'll be asked to consider a proposal backed by several counties to form a new state called North Colorado. Weld County commissioners unanimously voted Monday morning to place a 51st state secession initiative on the ballot, The Greeley Tribune reported.

U.S. Treasury bond yields rose to their highest level in two years last week.

For the first time, researchers have teleported 10,000 bits of information per second from point A to point B across a distance of about six millimeters and inside a solid state circuit, similar to a computer chip.  

Clinically dead woman revived after 42 minutes
Doctors say Vanessa Tanasio, 41, a mother of two from the suburb of Narre Warren, needed numerous defibrillator shocks, including one in the ambulance on her way to hospital. In a telephone interview from the hospital, she said she was eager to get home. "I'm feeling excellent. For someone who has been dead for nearly an hour of this week I am feeling tremendously well."

Terrorists ‘aim to hit Israeli, Jewish targets worldwide’ in coming weeks
Israeli and Jewish targets all over the world are likely to be sought out by terrorist organizations in the coming weeks, the Israeli government’s Counter-Terrorism Bureau warned in strikingly strident tones on Monday, listing dozens of countries where it said it had “concrete” indications of a terrorist threat.  

TSA to purchase 3.5 million rounds of ammunition
Although TSA agents in airports are currently unarmed, last month the TSA announced its plan to hire the use of a firing range within a 20 mile radius of LaGuardia Airport in order to train TSA workers. The Transportation Security Administration is set to purchase 3.5 million .357 SIG caliber bullets, enough for its agents to fire 9,400 rounds a day, every day of the year.  

Fukushima nuclear plant: Radioactive water leak found
Radioactive water has leaked from a storage tank into the ground at Japan's Fukushima plant, its operator says. Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco) said the leak of at least 300 tonnes of the highly radioactive water was discovered on Monday. ...A puddle of the contaminated water was emitting 100 millisieverts an hour of radiation, Kyodo news agency said.  

Egypt Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohammed Badie held
The most senior leader in Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, Mohammed Badie, has been arrested at a flat in Nasr City, Cairo, say officials. Mr Badie had been on the run since an arrest warrant was issued over alleged incitement to violence and murder. A state of emergency is in force amid a crackdown on Islamists opposed to the army's ousting of Mohammed Morsi.

New Zealand volcano lets off steam
A volcano off New Zealand sent a plume of steam two kilometers (1.24 miles) into the air Tuesday, although volcanologists described the eruption as small and said it was over in minutes. The GeoNet monitoring service said White Island, an uninhabited landmark off the North Island’s Bay of Plenty, erupted at 10:23am (2223 Monday GMT).  

Erdogan: Israel orchestrated Morsi overthrow, Egypt unrest
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Israel of orchestrating the Egyptian military’s overthrow... Morsi. “Israel is behind the coup in Egypt, we have evidence,” Erdogan was quoted as saying... The Turkish premier cited a conversation he had with a “French Jewish intellectual” who predicted that the Muslim Brotherhood would not be permitted to rule even if it won an election “because democracy is not the ballot box.”  

Newly Discovered Ocean Plume Could Be Major Source of Iron
Scientists have discovered a vast plume of iron and other micronutrients more than 1,000 km long billowing from hydrothermal vents in the South Atlantic Ocean. The finding, soon to be published in the journal Nature Geoscience, calls past estimates of iron abundances into question, and may challenge researchers' assumptions about iron sources in the world's seas.
