 Iran earthquake felt in UAE and Arabian Gulf  -  Al Ain: Aftershocks of a powerful 6.1 magnitude earthquake near the port city of Bushehr were felt in many parts of the UAE, including Dubai, Sharjah and other emirates on Tuesday afternoon.  

US navy laser cannon shoots down drone during testing
(Video) Footage released by the US navy shows a powerful laser cannon shoot down a drone aircraft during testing. The new weapon, known as the Laser Weapon System or Laws, is being billed as a step towards transforming warfare and will be deployed on US navy ships.

Pyongyang warns foreigners to evacuate S. Korea, threatens ‘thermonuclear’ war
Pyongyang has issued a warning urging foreign nationals to evacuate South Korea, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported. The statement was followed by threats from North Korea of “thermonuclear” war on the Korean Peninsula.

Israeli – Turkish reconciliation talks postponed
Israel may have apologized, but it seems that normalization of relations is still far off. A few hours after the families of Marmara fatalities announced they would not drop their suit even if they receive compensation, it turns out the meeting between the Israeli and Turkish delegations, who were set to discuss several central issues for the return to normalization, will be put off till April 22, at the request of the Turks.

Radioactive water leaking from pits near Fukushima nuclear plant
Radioactive water is leaking from at least two of the temporary pits dug close to the Fukushima nuclear reactors, with experts warning that the latest crisis at the plant indicates just how precarious the situation remains. Tokyo Electric Power Co has said that it is transferring contaminated water from the two underground reservoirs and the procedure should be completed by Friday...

Iran unveils uranium activities at Saghand and Ardakan
ran says it has begun operations at two uranium mines and a uranium ore processing plant, furthering its capacity to produce nuclear material. Low-grade uranium ore will be extracted at the Saghand mines and turned into purer uranium, known as yellowcake, at nearby Ardakan. It can then be enriched - a process which the West wants Iran to curtail.  

North Korea: Foreigners should evacuate South Korea
North Korea has warned foreigners in South Korea to take evacuation measures in case of war. This comes amid growing concern that the North may be about to launch a missile test. Pyongyang has been making bellicose threats against South Korea, Japan and US bases in the region.  

Israeli official: Hagel to visit this month
US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel will pay a first visit to Israel since taking office later this month to bolster the allies' cooperation in the Middle East, an Israeli official told Reuters on Tuesday. Hagel and his Israeli counterpart, Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon who is also newly appointed, discussed the visit by phone last month... The official said Hagel would visit between April 21-23.  

Kerry in Israel: No 'open-ended, endless' Iran nuke talks
US Secretary of State John Kerry said Tuesday morning as he met with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu that Iran will not be able to drag out the negotiations over its nuclear program indefinitely. "The United States of America has made clear that we stand not just with Israel, but with the entire international community...we are open to negotiation, but it is not an open-ended, endless negotiation," Kerry said...
