Cleric in Egypt vows: ‘Islamic flag will be raised above the White House’
A video of a Friday sermon before hundreds in Egypt capture this promise from a leading cleric: It’s only a matter of time before the flag of Islam flies above the White House. The video, reported by The Arab World, quoted the cleric as saying this: “I swear to Allah almighty Sharia will be implemented, I tell you, not only in Egypt. Sharia will be implemented in and govern the entire world.”  

'Haniyeh in Cairo to complain of Israeli violations'
Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh traveled to Cairo on Saturday to discuss complaints the movement has regarding Israel's compliance with the truce brokered by Egypt following Operation Pillar of Defense, AFP reported. According to the report, the Hamas administration's spokesman Taher al-Nunu said Haniyeh would be discussing "Israeli violations of the truce."

It appears, given news from Italy today, that European depositors are increasingly coming to the realization that deposits in their local bank are not 'safe' places to put their spare cash, but are in fact loans to extremely leveraged businesses. In a somewhat wishy-washy, 'hide-the-truth'-like statement on Monte dei Paschi's website, the CEO admits to, "the withdrawal of several billion in deposits."

Pope Francis is set to celebrate his first Easter Sunday since his election with an open-air Mass in St Peter's Square. He will then deliver a speech to Rome and to the world - the "Urbi et Orbi" address - from a balcony of St Peter's.

1 injured after suicide bomber attacks Mali's Timbuktu
A military official says a suicide bomber has driven a car loaded with explosives to a checkpoint on the outskirts of Timbuktu, blowing himself up at the western gate of the city. It was the second suicide attack on the town this month.

Syrian rebels pushed into a strategic neighborhood in the northern city of Aleppo after days of heavy clashes, seizing control of at least part of the hilltop district and killing a pro-government cleric captured in the fighting, activists and state media said Saturday.
