“The Pressure Continues to Build”
by Art Sadlier
January 8th, 2012

This week, US, Russian, French and British air and naval forces headed to the Syrian and Iranian coasts on guard for fresh developments at the two Middle East flashpoints.

Debkafile's military sources report a build up in the last 48 hours of western naval forces opposite Iran in the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea in readiness for Tehran to carry out its threat to close the Strait of Hormuz.

The threat to cut off the West’s oil supplies brings immediate response that far supersedes the threats to Israel.

US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta warned of a quick, decisive and very tough American response to any Iranian attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz.

In another significant development the US has deployed an estimated 8-9 thousand soldiers in Israel. This is in addition to 5-7 hundred already in Southern Israel. It has been suggested that this is preparation for an attack on Iran and to defend Israel from Iranian counter attacks. This could also end up being a problem for Israel, the Americans have sought long and hard to influence and control Israel's actions.

Looming on the horizon is Iran’s procuring of a nuclear weapon. One can only imagine the intimidation and outright blackmail that Iran will indulge in.

More disconcerting is the thought of Iran using their nuclear bombs to destroy Israel. Generals, politicians and analysts are all saying that Iran has been acting in a totally irrational manner in recent months. They have been acting in a way that is often against their own best interests; at best they are concluding that Iran is totally unpredictable.

The US president has been consulting with Saudi Arabia which is demanding (according to debkafile) that the Americans deal decisively with the Iranians.

It also seems that President Obama is unpredictable; he has often seemed to act ways that are not in America’s best interests. He has created the impression that America is now paper tiger, at least in the minds of the Iranian leaders.

It seems we have arrived at a point where situations are out of control, everyone is just reacting to the changing situations. I get the decided feeling that there are higher powers that are moving the situations and scenarios as pieces on a chess board. "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Ephesians 6:12).

The pressure continues to mount, an explosion could occur at any moment. Be assured that the sovereign Lord of the universe is working out His purposes.

"Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh" (Matthew 24:44).
