“More Beginning Signs”
by Art Sadlier
January 2nd, 2011

In  Matthew 24 Jesus gives a number of signs that will appear in the world as the tribulation period is about to dawn upon the world. Our Lord states that these are the beginning signs, verse 8, “All these are the beginning of sorrows.” In Luke 21:28, our Lord, in reference to these signs says, “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption (Rapture) draweth nigh.”

These signs are things that have always appeared in the world, but in the last days they will appear more frequently and more intensely. Today the world is seeing an intensifying of these beginning signs, though some scoff at this suggestion. We remind you, that none are as blind as those who will not see.

Today major earthquakes are on the increase, they are occurring almost daily, though, they are not always  reported in the major news media.

The threat of war is stalking the globe. There is a threat of war in Sudan, in the Korean Peninsula, Lebanon, Gaza, and with Iran. Add to this the report that Saudi Arabia has obtained two nuclear weapons from Pakistan, and the fact that Iran is close to developing their own nukes.

In the UK they are experiencing the coldest winter in a 1,000 years. In China, thousands are being evacuated from their homes because of the extreme cold. There are major floods in Australia, China, and the UK. In Australia the area covered by water is larger than the province of Ontario.

The threat of financial collapse is threatening Europe, a collapse which could bring down the world economy. The US is now 14 trillion dollars in debt, it took just 7 months for the debt to go from 13 trillion to 14 trillion dollars. Many American states are in danger of bankruptcy. We are told that triple digit oil prices could appear and bring havoc to the world`s economies.

Another alarming fact is that the sun is building toward a solar max. At its angriest, the sun can vomit forth tides of electromagnetic radiation and charged matter known as coronal mass ejections, or CMEs. Forecasters tell us, “They can unleash static discharges and geomagnetic storms that can disrupt or even knock out the electronics on which our urbanised internet-obsessed, data-saturated society depends.”  Some scientists warn that our society could return to the dark ages overnight.

In Mexico the drug wars killed 30,000 last year, and  police forces are being exterminated with some towns now having no police at all.

Within the last few weeks we have heard of a new situation, which I believe is another warning sign to our world. Recent headlines tell us about mass deaths of animals, birds, and fish. There have been at least nine incidents of mass animal deaths across the globe. 8,000 turtle doves fell to the ground dead in Faenza, Italy, and were found to have a blue stain around their beaks. The bodies of two million spot fish have washed up on the shores of Chesapeake Bay, Maryland. Thousands of dead fish have washed up on the shores of Spruce Creek, Florida. 450 red-winged blackbirds, brown-headed cowbirds, grackles and starlings were found littering a highway in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. 3,000 dead blackbirds were found on roofs and roads in the small town of Beebe, Arkansas. Thousands of 'devil crabs' washed up along the Kent coast near Thanet. Thousands of drum fish washed up along a 20-mile stretch of the Arkansas River. Hundreds of snapper fish were found were dead in New Zealand. Scores of American Coots were found dead on a Texas highway bridge. In Falkoping, Sweden, dozens of jackdaws were found dead on the street.

I am reminded of Romans 8:22-23, “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.” I suspect we are hearing the groaning of creation growing louder as we near time of redemption.

Another sign is the violence that is sweeping our world. The persecution of Christians has now reached epidemic proportions all around the world. The Religion of Peace (Islam) website reports that for 2010, there were 1,987 jihad attacks in 46 nations resulting in 9,175 deaths and 17,436 injured.

The natural man cannot perceive the fact that the Bible is the Word of the living God. Therefore, when the prophetic scriptures speak about end time events, the natural man cannot believe it when those scriptures are fulfilled. Paul said to believers at Thessalonica, “But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief” (1Thess. 5:4)  We are able to understand the signs of the times.

The writer to the Hebrews said, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. We are the generation which is seeing the day approaching. Because we understand what is happening in the world around us we are accountable for that understanding. We are exhorted to watch and occupy until He comes.
