“Revelation 5:1 - Exploring Revelation”

Chapter four is the Throne Room Chapter of the Bible. Heaven is opened for our gaze. We see a throne set in heaven, on that throne we see the Almighty, Everlasting God. Understand, that before God lets us see the awful cataclysmic events of Revelation 6 to 19, He wants to remind us that He is still on the throne. We need that perspective before we go on.

I suspect that the Tribulation Saints will go back to Revelation 4: over and over again. I think they will live between Romans 8:28 - Revelation 4: - Psalm 11.

We need to make an application here, how do you react to the situations and circumstances of life? Do you go from sorrow to despair to discouragement to defeat? We, who are Christians, ought to live in Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God." Is there indelibly etched on your mind a picture of a Loving, Almighty, All Wise Sovereign God on His throne?

With that background we come to Chapter 5: verse one. "And I saw in the right hand of Him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals." Simply stated, God is on His throne,He has a Book in His Right Hand. This Book is filled with writing on the frontside and on the backside it is sealed with seven seals.

This Book contains information, as we shall see, about the future, about what lies ahead from chapter five onward. The message is clear, God knows things about the future that no-one else knows.

God is sometimesa revealer of Secrets, of Knowledge, and sometimes He is the Concealer of Knowledge.

In Ephesians 3:5, Paul talks about how God, in the Old Testament Era, concealed the knowledge of the church. Through Paul, in Ephesians, God reveals the knowledge of the church that had been hidden in Old Testament Times.

In Revelation 5:, God is seen as both a Concealer of knowlege and a Revealer of knowledge. I'm glad God is a Concealer of knowledge. God conceals the future from me, God knows how much of the future events and happenings of my life I need to know. God knows it would not be good for me to know all about the future events of my life, so He graciously covers my future with a veil to hide them from me, otherwise, I would not be able to live in the present, the future would be a total distraction.

We have in Rev.5:1 a Book in God's right hand, a book that is sealed, a book that holds information about future events. I want you to see that this Book appears away back in the book ofDaniel.

Daniel was a prophet and God revealed some hidden things, secret things , to Daniel. In Daniel 2:47, God is called the "Revealer of Secrets". The Book of Daniel, has a record of God's Revelation to Daniel, a recordof events that were yet future in Daniel's Day.

Read Daniel 12:1, God is revealing to Daniel knowledge of events that will take place in the End Times. Then, we read in Daniel 4:4, "but thou, O Daniel, shut up the Words, and Seal the Book, even to the time of the End." In other words, Daniel, some of the knowledge of the End Time Events that I have revealed to you,is not to be passed on to other men at this time," shut up the words of and seal the Book.

Daniel, I am not ready to reveal to Israel and the world, the knowlege of many End Time Events. As we come to Revelation 5: the time for that revelation has finally come.

In Daniel 10:1 we learn that the things revealed to Daniel here, were a long way in the future. In Daniel 10:2,3, Daniel sought the Lord for more information about what he had learned. In verse 4, an angel is sent to reveal to Daniel what will happen to Israel in the latter days.

This revelation concerned the events of Revelation 6 to 19, The Great Tribulation Period, the events sealed in the Book in God's Right Hand, in Revelation 5:1. Notice in Daniel 10:14 "For yet the vision is for many days", Daniel, these events are a long way in the future from your own day.

In Daniel 12:9 we read, "And He said, go thy way, Daniel , for the words are closed up and sealed 'til the time of the end." Again, that is the same book sealed in the right hand of God in Revelation 5:1.

Next w eek we will learn that the Book is also the Title Deed to the Earth. The events recorded in the Book are the events which will lead to the Restoration of the Earth to its rightful owner.
