“America, What is Going On?”

There are warning signs of coming disaster for America, and they are popping up all over the place. Look at a few of the major disasters that are troubling America.

1 – The Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill – They tell us that the oil is gushing out of floor of the Gulf of Mexico at a rate of up to 25,000 barrels a day. There are various estimates as to how long it will take to cap this well, possibly many months. The cost to an already strained economy is estimated as possibly as much as 14 billion dollars. The Louisiana fishery could be wiped out and hundreds of thousands of people could lose their livelihood. The Florida tourist industry could be badly damaged as beaches are fouled with oil all over the State. We are also warned that the oil could drift up the US eastern seaboard.

2 – The disappearance of the Honeybees – For the fourth year in a row in the US, more than a third of honey bee colonies have failed the winter. The magnitude of this problem is seen when we realize that one third of all the food we eat is cross pollinated by honeybees.

According to WorldNetDaily, the following is a list of just some of the crops that depend on honeybees: almonds, apples, apricots, avocados, blueberries, boysenberries, cherries, citrus fruits, cranberries, grapes, kiwi, loganberries, macadamia nuts, nectarines, olives, peaches, pears, plums, raspberries, strawberries, asparagus, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers, cantaloupe, honeydew, onions, pumpkins, squash, watermelon, alfalfa hay and seed, cotton lint, cotton seed, legume seed, peanuts, rapeseed, soybeans, sugar beets and sunflowers.

To make a bad situation worse, scientists do not know the cause, nor the solution to the problem, and we are running out of time.

3 – Storms and Tornadoes - Are taking a toll on the economy and the resources of the country. These storms eat up billions of dollars of resources in a time of economic distress. Recent storms have left 12 people dead in the South.

4 – The Drying up of the Ogallala Aquifer - The Ogallala Aquifer is a gigantic underground lake that stretches from southern South Dakota all the way through northern Texas, covering approximately 174,000 square miles. This underground lake is the source of much of the irrigation used in the plain states, without this resource much of the plains could turn into a desert. Much of the food production of this area could be lost. We are now being told that this massive aquifer is drying up. America’s troubles are growing.

5 – The Threat of Nuclear Terror – We are hearing constantly of the imminent threat of nuclear bombs being used against the American population. People in high places are telling us it is not a matter of if? But of when and where. A well placed nuclear bomb could not only devastate the economy but bring chaos to society. The effects of an EMP explosion could put America back in the dark ages.

6 – The Looming threat of Economic Collapse – Today many Americans are saying that America is on the verge of an economic collapse. The nation is so deep in debt that it is now absolutely impossible to recover. Many are saying that the coming economic collapse will bring the collapse of society, with crime, violence, riots and unrest. If you doubt the seriousness of the possibility of this scenario listen to the following item. According to a report on sovereign debt by Moody's, the world's five biggest AAA-rated countries (including the United States) are all at risk of soaring debt costs and will have to implement austerity plans that threaten 'social cohesion'.

7 - Other Threats of Possible Disaster - The recent frequency of major earthquakes has suggested the possibility that the great west coast earthquake could be near at hand. Yet another terrifying scenario is the danger posed by the Cumbre Veija  mountain on the Canary Islands. In 2001, U.S. and British scientists warned that a major eruption of Cumbre Vieja could cause the entire western flank of the volcano to fall into the sea, creating a "mega-tsunami" in the Atlantic. Traveling at 500 miles per hour, it would wipe out Florida, the eastern seaboard of the US, coastal Brazil, and parts of Europe with waves up to 160-feet high. These two things are just possibilities of how God might bring judgment on America.

None of the above things are the real problem of America, they are the consequences of the real problem.  America’s real problem is her turning away from God. No nation on earth, bar none, has had as much of the truth of God’s Word opened up to her as America has had. Even Israel did not have the full orbed truth of the gospel.  No nation, except Israel, has so turned away from the truth of God, as America has. Unless America turns back to God in deep repentance and contrition, the above situations are only harbingers of what is yet to come.
