Since the rioting that took down the dictatorship in Tunisia a few weeks ago, the Arab dictators of the Mideast have been walking on eggs. The unrest has spread to several other countries such as Algiers, Yemen and Egypt. One success breeds the next attempt. We are reminded of the domino effect that took place in the former Soviet Republics when the streets caught the fire of revolution.
On Wednesday, Jan. 26, Egypt had to place its security and intelligence services on Level D, the highest ever for the close to a million officers serving in these agencies, to control the violent anti-government riots shaking the regime since Tuesday from cities across the country. Armoured divisions are already on emergency standby as the street battles flared in Suez, the main port town of the Suez Canal, and in Cairo. It carried over Thursday to other cities; Alexandria and Ismailia and for the first time crossed the Suez Canal to ignite the Sinai mining town of Bir Sweid. At least one death was reported and several other casualties.
If President Mubarak were to step aside, the Muslim Brotherhood Party would almost certainly take over the country. Such a move would place the most radical of Muslims in control of Egypt. The consequences for Israel would be disastrous. It would be comparable to having another “Iran type” regime on its southern border.
Where will this movement toward revolutionary change in the Arab world end? Could Saudi Arabia be immune from such a possibility. It is doubtful. These are days of monumental change in the Mideast.
In another ominous development, Hamas are calling for Palestinians to overthrow Mahmoud Abass and his regime in the West Bank. Hamas would almost certainly take over the West Bank and create an unimaginably difficult situation for Israel.
In another area of pending change, we see both America and Europe facing a coming economic and financial earthquake. The cards could be quickly reshuffled in Europe, and Europe could fall in line with the end time scenario recorded in the books of Daniel and Revelation. America could be suddenly removed from the end time equation through economic collapse which seems to be pending. America has no place in the end time scenario.
We seem to forget the swiftness with which these momentous changes can take place. It seems to me that the climate for the world-wide peace treaty of Antichrist could be brought about by a Mideast war. This would be war in which Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Palestinians would almost overwhelm Israel. This war would have catastrophic effects, with the possible use of weapons of mass destruction. This would be the war of Psalm 83, and it would bring the nations and the people to cry out for peace.
“Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh” (Matthew 25:13).
